5 years old, these videos still make me smile as I enjoy the hard work you do to produce them. I love your country wisdom and the details you say about what you do. Happy subber who waits excitedly for the next adventure. Thanks so much! :)
Dennis I really enjoy watching all your videos.. it doesn't matter if you're farming doing construction mowing it's all very interesting to me!! Thanks for all you do in your postings.. I Wish TV was this interesting!!!
I know they say for everyone to stay home so that you can do your job. This video is great because now drivers can see how difficult it is at times for you to see and with your large plow blade, you take up some serious real estate on the road. Great video.....thanks for posting.
great video Dennis. Brings back lots of memories of my life growing up as a kid living in the country in the 40's and 50's in Ontario Canada. Seen the snow like you are showing many many times sometimes and you might wait two days for a plow to plow your road and you couldn't even walk out it was so deep. The Late 50's I moved to the big city of Toronto Ontario Canada I grew up here as a teen and still live here now. Seen many big storms like you are plowing in the city. Thing is in the city you have nowhere to put the snow. It has to be hauled away. would cost several million dollars over a bad winter. You are doing a great job sir stay safe.
I hope you don't get sick of making these videos mate, they are awesome, especially these snow and ice ones, Tasmania gets bugger all snow really, a little bit up in the high country but most of the place never really sees it, I have never actually seen a plow working so it's pretty interesting. I can relate to your hay and earth-moving stuff though and I like the way you do things. Keep up the good work bud.
Yep, you guys got the snow, that's for sure. We just got the colder temps when all of the snow hit you. That heated wiper blade looks to work great. Thanks for the ride along. Stay safe.
Dennis, I am glad you took that snow bullet for us! Today I have been digging a ditch from our underground propane tank to our backup generator. The top 6" of the ground is frozen, had to use a backhoe to get that removed and dig the rest by hand. So I didn't have to deal with all the snow that you took for us, so thanks!
Wow, what a video. I could hardly see there in the early morning dark. It was better than watching TV. Enjoyed the ride, that tractor goes fast. Be careful driving out there. Thanks for taking your time to upload and edit all this footage. Looking forward to part 2. Colorado, Denver, is sunny and clear no snow here. Again thanks 🙏.
Here in WI, they use a Town dump truck (Freightliner) to do basic highway/road snow plowing. If we get heavier snow, they break out the fairly new big Oshkosh truck with snowplow (very long wings) & sand/salt spreader on the dump bed. NOW it the snow is really bad, they will use the big Cat road grader with a big V-plow drift buster on the front, the blade w/ long wing on the side. After each big storm, that thing will go up & down the roads and push the snow way back from the road up to 8' over. Take care!
Great video bud!!! Changing out snow plow bits is no fun. We sure could use a little of that white stuff along the front range in Northern Colorado. Very dry and mid 50's where we should be 8" of snow on the ground and low 30's. Stay safe and stay warm!
Dennis i dont know how the heck you kept that tractor between the ditches with all that snow flying around i would of been plowing the mail boxes the trees and the middle of the fields. a few times there you had me getteing juice outa my arm rests. Another great video, cant wait for part 2 stay safe...
Man y'all did get some snow! I have family in northern Georgia mountains and when they get snow like this they call it the snowapocalypse. The crazy thing is during the first snow they run around the house in shorts and no shoes lol. It's an annual thing they do.
Nice Video I work for VDOT in Fairfax myself and 10 others where sent to the Hillsville Area Headquarters to help out with the storm . We were there from Saturday until Tuesday.
Yep, I'd called that snowed-in. Luckily all it just missed us but; we going to get rain for the next three days. But I'll take mud over snow any day. I use to have to scrape snow at my old job (airport maintenance); we had a rubber belt on the top of the blades that hung down (about 8 inches), that really helped keeping the snow from blowing back at the windshield. Be safe out there.
Just a piece of advice you can take or not. Lol. Where snow is drifting try to roll and push as much as you can to the downwind side and as little as possible upwind. Big piles upwind at the edge of the road make an area of low pressure that lets the blowing snow drop out of the wind and fall on the ground, if there is no pile it will keep blowing across the road and tend to rise up over the larger pile on the other side then drop snow on its far edge. Our area still uses snow fencing in places to kind of do this same thing. Great video, can't wait for part 2.
Around here in Maryland we call that white gold pay is great with a state of emergency We got nothing out of that storm up here Biggest problem with snow storms we lose all our grade stakes on the job site and when plowing we caught hell by them manholes lids sticking up just a little bit Hammer down and keep them videos rolling
That plow does a good job! We are plowing a commercial lot this year, and it is pretty rough- hard to plow things down nice when there are pot holes and man hole covers everywhere!! lol
man I love that plow. Makes me jealous to see every vid with you using it. Too bad this snow stayed south for you guys and didnt come up to PA for us to have some fun too. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video & really am ready for your next one part 2! A lot of hard work & many long man hours to keep those mountain roads passable to drive on I imagine. Stay safe out there & take care of yourself.
I know what your going through. I work for the department of transportation in Kentucky. Got pretty lucky and didn’t get as much snow off the storm that y’all got. Be safe out there.
Spent many storms looking at snow through a 950 windshield. You might try pushing those drifts to the leeward side of the road. Thanks for the extra video work.
Thanks for the ride !!! I would imagine it gets kinda hairy when traffic starts moving. At least here in Monroe NC it seems like a lot of folks have little respect or time for equipment on the road. Pass at all cost seems to be their motto.
nobody has winter on their cars so who in their right mind would be out when it snows,,,idiots. I live in Quebec Canada and we have winter tires from dec 1st until march 15th compulsary.. lot less troubles and ditches cars, should be a must in all states or provinces where they get snow, reduce accidents and deaths
thanks for taken us along for the ride, i had to laugh at 23.28 you had her on a lock then she got a grip i was waiting for oh s**t lol just got to wait for part 2 now, i hope there is never a stone come up in that snow and hit the front screen or it would be bang
Great videos and commentary! I also love that HLA blade. Unfortunately my tractor is too small for a beast like that. I run a 7' HLA 2000 straight blade for residential work only. Keep up the good work!
They tried rubber edges around here and they left too much snow on the roads. You've had much more snow than we've had in Northern Wisconsin. We've had about 4 inches so far this year.
i have two uncles that live in Danville , I've worked in Roxboro and the next town over i can't remember the name but I've worked at both of the power plants in Roxboro many times i guess that's the state line
Heated wipers should be mandatory in winter climates. I’m a truck driver in Wisconsin and run everblades on my big rig. Definitely a life saver. You need to put a led light bar on the roof facing forward it’ll be so much better than the factory lights which are mostly blocked by the blade.
I looked up sum history of the Talbott dam and the impressive 70 inch 5,400-foot-long WOOD penstock, you get any photos or remember the wooden penstock replacement for the hydro plant
ok, after my ADD stopped I looked again and your right. does the talbott dam discharge into the dan river and then into the townes dam where this penstock is at
I enjoy watching your videos. I have a suggestion. To help keep some of the slush and snow off of your windshield you may want to look into putting some belting on the top of the blade. Of you build a even angeling it forward would be better than nothing but angeling down would be the ticket. Even on the angels on the sides would work because it's flexible.
The road I grew up on had a spot by a wide open field that would always drift across the road when the wind was right. Someone planted a grape vineyard there, (lots of those around the area), and that put a stop to the drifting. I had a tractor to plow my driveway and the neighbors with and I got tired of the maintenance, so I sold it and I pay someone 25 dollars a crack to plow it and it's way less expensive that way and I don't have to do anything.
I can see why you use carbide cutting edges. It is interesting to see where you are, it looks like VDOT also maintains county roads. Here in AZ the county maintains their own roads and the state maintains their roads.
Another brand to look into for your tractor is Metal Pless. Dirt ninja has many videos on it and it cleans right down to the pavement. Just a thought. Hopefully you get compensated nicely for your work.
You do a lot of great videos. Too bad that camera you on the blade didn't work out as that was a great shot of the blade working. Thanks again for sharing.
this beats tv any day hehe. i hear people getting god results on Alliance 550 tractor tires, good grip on snow and dont wear fast. Nokian tires dont last as long i hear, and costs more. heated wipers works really good, need to get me some of those. can get heated front windows also, but if its cold they dont work as good.
You say you cant see,its normal your light are right at blade level. If you install on tge hood a 20 inches light bar and also one over your windshield a 50 inches it will be safer and much brighter being able to use either or both.. Nothing better than sitting in your warm kitchen, watching someone else pushing snow. Thank you for your effort bringing this to us!
Lol your welcome
I find snowplow videos really therputic, so I was glad to stumble upon these videos. Also, you have a calming voice.
Awesome glad you like it.
Dennis I really enjoy watching all your videos.. it doesn't matter if you're farming doing construction mowing it's all very interesting to me!! Thanks for all you do in your postings.. I Wish TV was this interesting!!!

great video Dennis. Brings back lots of memories of my life growing up as a kid living in the country in the 40's and 50's in Ontario Canada.

Thanks 👍 seems like hauling all that snow would take forever but I understand they have no choice.
I hope you don't get sick of making these videos mate, they are awesome, especially these snow and ice ones, Tasmania gets bugger all snow really, a little bit up in the high country but most of the place never really sees it, I have never actually seen a plow working so it's pretty interesting. I plan to keep making them for a good while.
Thanks for sharing your days with us, better than anything on the old TV... Peace to ya my friend...
Glad to hear that!
Yep, you guys got the snow, that's for sure. We just got the colder temps when all of the snow hit you. That heated wiper blade looks to work great. Thanks for the ride along. Stay safe.

Sure am glad you put me back in the cab at the 23:00 mark. It was getting dang cold out there.
Haha sorry
I am sure snow causes a lot of problems and delays and frustration, but it still is a beautiful scenery with all that snow!! Be safe!!
It don't bother us mountain folk to much the store and restaurant we're open on schedule.

Awesome glad you enjoy it.
You have had some wild weather this year there!! Ice storm, now a lot of snow!!
Thanks for bringing us along!!
Yes it's a very unusual December. Actually it's been an unusually wet year altogether.
one of the best snow plowing videos I have seen thanks for sharing Dennis
Glad to hear that!
Great video Dennis! Thank you for the ride, looking forward to the next one. Stay safe
It will be ready soon
@@DLHFarms Hurry up! Lol ! Just kidding ! I'm sure you have been busy.
I appreciate you.
Yes very busy
Wish I lived closer, I would come give you a hand!😊
We could use it when it snows
Mt Arie that’s Mayberry. Got to love the Andy Griffith show. Have a good one
He named the town in the show Mayberry after a place right here in Meadows of Dan called Mayberry

Lol that's funny! Sorry for stressing you out.

Thanks 👍. I switched over to the T5 to do snow blowing and driveway clearing and sure did appreciate that steering knob
@@DLHFarms I hope you gave it a good workout.
Oh yeah
Just a piece of advice you can take or not. Lol. Where snow is drifting try to roll and push as much as you can to the downwind side and as little as possible upwind. I agree with you but I can only do so much with a big pile of snow.

Hey Dennis I'm back watching your snow videos again. Won't be long now for some new ones, hopefully.
We have snow in the forecast on Wednesday! 😀
That plow does a good job! We are plowing a commercial lot this year, and it is pretty rough- hard to plow things down nice when there are pot holes and man hole covers everywhere!! lol
I know that feeling its a pain
You got alot more snow than we have here in my area of Iowa this has been a crazy year for weather that's for sure. Keep up the great videos
I agree crazy!
All us northerners moved to your neck of the woods, that is why you are getting hammered with all the snow.😁
Well thanks LoL
man I love that plow. Makes me jealous to see every vid with you using it. Too bad this snow stayed south for you guys and didnt come up to PA for us to have some fun too. Keep up the good work.

Yes I pushed 38 hours straight only stopped to eat
I like to apply rain x on the windshield, that tends to help out also.
Yes it helps for a while
Nice job Dennis. We got 12 inches down here in Greensboro.
That's a lot for down there
Keep up the good work Dennis, we're the opposite of you guys here in New Zealand, currently sitting under the a/c, keep warm mate.
You keep cool 👍
Carbide blade sound expensive. Good job, it is funny living in a hot country and watching snow videos. Must be hard to get any work done.
Yes a carbide edge for a blade is about $100 per foot this blade is 16 foot total.
Great video! Keep 'em coming.
👍
Man I love plowing snow. Great work.

33 minutes of plowing and not one car on the road. It must be nice plowing around there!
Yeah it's not bad

Yes it does!
They tried rubber edges around here and they left too much snow on the roads. You've had much more snow than we've had in Northern Wisconsin. We've had about 4 inches so far this year.
That's interesting
Where possible I always plow to the leeward side of prevailing winds so you don't get taller drifts the next time. Easy to do with that great plow.
I've tried it both ways it doesn't help when the wind is blowing you can't stop it from drifting.
@@DLHFarms We usually plow roads at night when the wind has died down. It is satisfying work.
The wind seems to be worse here at night but it varies
i have two uncles that live in Danville , I've worked in Roxboro and the next town over i can't remember the name but I've worked at both of the power plants in Roxboro many times i guess that's the state line
a rubber lip hanging from the top of the blade usally helps to avoid that spray coming for your windshield..
They help some I had one on my old plow.
U should put some led lights on the 630nohallion
You need a rubber flap at the top of the plow to keep the snow off the windshield.
Heated wipers should be mandatory in winter climates. I’m a truck driver in Wisconsin and run everblades on my big rig. Definitely a life saver. You need to put a led light bar on the roof facing forward it’ll be so much better than the factory lights which are mostly blocked by the blade.
It has 4 cab lights that are not blocked by the blade. I can see just fine
I do enjoy your snow videos. Not nice when the snow blows over the top onto the windscreen though 😣. Keep em coming, look after ur self out there 👍
At least it's not hitting you in the face. Lol
😂😂 oh for the little joys in life
Send some snow my way I just put a new blade on my case waiting to try it out lol I'm from Ontario Canada
Oh no new blade? It may never snow there again. Lol
DLH Farms well that's what I said we should take the blower off the Massey and blades off the case and we may actually get some lol
Yep LoL
I'm pretty sure people meant rubber cutting edges with carbide inserts like we run on our state plows and they last almost as long as steel or same
Never heard of that. They we're complaining that I'm going to mess up the road surface but nobody here cares
I looked up sum history of the Talbott dam and the impressive 70 inch 5,400-foot-long WOOD penstock, you get any photos or remember the wooden penstock replacement for the hydro plant
You may be looking at the wrong dam. The one your looking for is in Patrick county VA
ok, after my ADD stopped I looked again and your right. does the talbott dam discharge into the dan river and then into the townes dam where this penstock is at
Yes your talking about the old wooden pipeline I do remember that thing and I know where pieces of it are still at.
that's awesum
Yes it is. They replaced it with a big steal pipe.
It would be difficult to do because of the spill guard thats on this blade
The road I grew up on had a spot by a wide open field that would always drift across the road when the wind was right. Someone planted a grape vineyard there, (lots of those around the area), and that put a stop to the drifting. I can see why you use carbide cutting edges. It is interesting to see where you are, it looks like VDOT also maintains county roads. Here in AZ the county maintains their own roads and the state maintains their roads.

Great idea to have a camera in the tractor for safety.

Yeah it was just to much snow
Awesome video my friend .
Thanks!
i like the job . hi from france
Thanks 👍 hi from the USA
Need a diverter on top of the wing to keep the snow off the windshield
I doubt you can do much to stop the blow back.
We didn't get much snow in my area mostly rain and a few snow flurries had a few bridges ice over but nothing major
We got 18 inches by the end.
Great video Dennis! My dad said over in Louisville they use some sort of brine on the roads? Be safe and don’t let that New Holland get away from you.
They used that here also
I've been waiting all week for this
I got more coming soon
I've seen metal studs for tractor tyres, I have a neighbor thar screw them on in winter and screw them out in summer.
I put chains on in the next video
Awesome! I like these snowpushing videos and hear you talk about this and that, coming with good tips and showing the gadgets you use.
Glad to hear!
Looks like you have to put some lights up higher so you can see the road
I have 4 lights on the cab they can't get any higher. There are 8 lights on the front on this tractor.
Thanks for doing this vid - keep them coming. Add some more cab lights, the tractor headlights are just hitting thr blade.
It already has 4 cab lights I can see way better than what you can see on camera

@@DLHFarms that's the plan, it's broken 😂
Lol
Need to add a few more leds to the upper cab.
You need a set of Lights on top of the cab to light up the road a head better.
Kinda need a rubber flap across the top of the blade, that may help a bit.
I don't know if it would or not it was so light and fluffy it was blowing from everywhere.
We run rubber flaps on all our plows and when the snow is light or the temperature gets below 20 the flap is worthless.
Exactly thank you. I've run them also and they don't do much with this light cold snow.
good morning there fella.
Morning!
Looking good make sure you get Napa plowed out I’m sure there going to be making some hoses hahaha see ya Napa mike
I think they got plowed out! Lol
