You guys are so adorable and cute. It's good to see how naturally diverse you are and your passion on learning about other cultures. Keep that good heart, God will bless you 1000 times for that.
hello guys am so happy & breath taken that you took the time to visit Kenya and actually mingle with the people in the streets. and thanks to you I get to remember the banana markings the women at Kibuye market out on their bananas so the don't get lost. and I might have seen 1 or 2 people in the market that I might have recognised. Anyway my name is Samken & I reside in the UK now but am originally a Kenyan. Thanks ever so much am a big fan. 😉
i love red beans and rice, with spahetti sauce in the last 10 minutes of cooking. I have kept written, audio, and video journals since age 15, and i will be 75 in October. I used the recorder apps, UA-cam, and Judi Grace StoryCorps. Thank you so much! thank you.
I wasn't wrong when I said they had great Indian food in East Africa! In Zanzibar I had an excellent coconut curry. The food is better than the mainland staples you ate for lunch. There also was a night market more similar to Asian markets. Lots of grilling. Can't wait to see the beautiful carved doors again!
Am Kenyan and PAN is a bomb of spicy explosion from different sweet and spicey flavours. You can also have it pimped with tobbaco, coffee or some stimulant drugs. Its a popular treat for Indian men because they do'nt drink alchol that much. The effect you get is like a shot of Polish Vodka, plus your mouth stays minty fresh
I’m rewatching all your vids, have been for almost a year! Love them. But it’s so hard not to watch the newer stuff 😫 I mean I could but I want to experience it from the beginning lol
The food, betel leaf is pretty much what you'll find in North India as well. Shows how much pak & north Indian culture is a part of Kenyan culture as well. I'm surprised you didn't try this type of food and paan in India!
Also, omg I need all of those Ankara dresses!!! If I went to Africa I’d just throw out all my clothes so I could stuff my suitcase with the beautiful printed fabrics.
I am not sure how I get here but you guys are so awesome, and I love your Vlogs. I am stalking you from Minnesota and lived in Kenya fifteen years ago :)
Wow that market was crazy noisy...lots going on...the food looked interesting...that leaf thing at the end...uhhhh I don't think I could've done it Nate...good on u to try :0) BIG HUGS FROM IDAHO!! :)
Thank for making this video . I've looking for ppl that make vids of Kenya. But you should try places like monikos restaurant, nakumatt (it's like a mall ). And for foods try samosa, Nyama choma, pilau with kachumbali,& try ugali and skuma wiki with soup. (I'm Kenyan )
"Chicken with bones is too much work" Says the Cheerleader/UA-camr 2 of the most under appreciated careers that work too hard to get far. Who doesn't eat wings lol
Yall are so cute! I heard on one of your vlogs that you were from Nashville? I am the Memphis area. Are ya'll doing mission work? Just curious, I had family that just came back from a two week trip to Rwanda. Their host family lives there and also lived in Togo at one time.
It would be wrong to call it Indian food.. You could call it Indian inspired food or you could try explain how some of the food trace their origin to Indian and asian cuisine... People from East African coast used to do alot of trading and interaction with sailors and traders from Asia and m.east pre-independence(since the 14th century!), gradually eastAfricans (the swahili people at the coast)adopted some of the cuisines and gradually, generation after generation the cuisines were 'localised'. the pilau you find in Kisumu will be very different with the one in Mombasa... Some people in kenya grew up eating what you have just called 'indian food' with recipes passed down from generations tracing back as far as it can be traced
Paan is an acquired taste...it’s funny you said you wanted to brush your teeth after eating it because it’s eaten as a mouth freshener/breath freshener after a meal. Also Pakistani food is very similar to Indian food because they were the same country up until 1947. So if the restaurant is Pakistani-owned, then it’s a Pakistani restaurant 🙂
I have to say if you’re ever in Missouri HMU for some good pilau. That didn’t look good 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and chapati. Different places cook different in Kenya and pilau isn’t the lake sides strong suit, maybe fish.
The last thing you had is typical indian thing called PAAN(awesome stuff).. make sure you spit (to get a feel) atleast once - its just the typical way people do after eating paan..LOL.:) seems like you didn't like it, or may be they didn't make good. great blog overall.
8:59 I've come to realise that anything with more than salt in it is considered "spicy" by most Caucasians so I'll take your word with a pinch of salt. 😂 Pun intended.
Naan is a type of bread. Just say Naan instead of Naan bread. Saying Naan bread reads as bread bread, kinda like chai tea... chai means tea so people are just saying tea tea :D
That thing that was wrapped up in the leaf... I was like "there is no way that's going to be good", and I wasn't wrong! Nate was to polite to say it, but then the ending... hahaha!
What was the drink Nate had ua-cam.com/video/AIhQ6QcMFak/v-deo.html ? I haven't been to Kenya since I was a child (been13 years now) but there's this one soda I adored when I was younger. Looks like the same one Nate is having. I can't remember it's name for the life of me but it was in a green bottle (not Sprite..) and it had a bitter taste to it. I think it was lime flavored. I was 5 and it was soo bitter but I loved it. Name of the drink please?
The beans name in the USA that he was eating pinto beans The name here is different I have learn. Black eyes peas USA name Nairobi Kenya peas name cowpea they are the same
I'm actually with Kara on this. I prefer my chicken boneless because that way, I don't have to worry about working around the bone and leaving waste behind. That's why boneless skinless chicken breasts are a thing. For people like she and I. 😊😊
I'd be interested to hear what caused your red eye. It obviously had no lasting effects. It looks as if you brushed your face against something like the roof thatch when you were trying to out jump the Maasai Mara men.
Sorry about your eye, Nate. Back in the first African Safari vlog you were looking at your eye in the camera, so it seems like it was bothering you for a few days. Hope it's gotten better.
You guys are so adorable and cute. It's good to see how naturally diverse you are and your passion on learning about other cultures. Keep that good heart, God will bless you 1000 times for that.

Love the way the man peeled the pineapple, remarkable and the lunch looks amazing!
Hey Nate go to the doctor for that eye. As my hubby says you don't want to mess with your eye.
Thank you for showing my hometown.

I love the artwork!!
The food, betel leaf is pretty much what you'll find in North India as well. Shows how much pak & north Indian culture is a part of Kenyan culture as well. I'm surprised you didn't try this type of food and paan in India!

Kara, you are my spirit twin! I have wondered if I could survive a trip like yours simply because I don't like meat with bones in it!

Fellow Tennesseean! Thank you :) Rwanda seems like a cool place, we'd love to go there sometime too!
+Kara and Nate Kisumu is my city. I'm in Atlanta City.

Kenya is for braver people other than myself!
Bugbite?
The last thing you had is typical indian thing called PAAN(awesome stuff).. make sure you spit (to get a feel) atleast once - its just the typical way people do after eating paan..LOL.:) seems like you didn't like it, or may be they didn't make good.
great blog overall.

I'd be interested to hear what caused your red eye. It obviously had no lasting effects. It looks as if you brushed your face against something like the roof thatch when you were trying to out jump the Maasai Mara men.
