A lot of people watch my build video's and other multi-
video projects but more often than not, they start somewhere
in the middle of the build and don't catch all the other
video's that lead up to where they started watching. This
causes people to ask me questions that were answered or
addressed in those previous videos.
I will be picking my FAVORITE builds of all time and
combining the entire series to make one giant video for
each one. This way you can watch it all or skip through
easily to parts you want to see. To everyone who has
watched all the video series i post, THANK YOU!

i know this series is older but i am on a mission to upload some of my favorite builds from over the years, but ALL IN ONE with a small update at the end. These builds take time and usually end up being 10 or more video's in the series. This causes people to not see everything. So a lot go's unseen. People always ask me about things that are actually IN the video. But maybe they came in late and missed it. Or they suggest i do something i have already done. This build here is one of my favorites. My friend Moke wanted me to "set his gains" because he wasn't happy with the install someone did to his car. I took one look at it and decided it was a lot more than just setting gains that needed to be done. Oh my what i would find in the process. Anyhow, the shop has changed drastically since i did this build but this kinda shows you what you can do with little to know special tools. Just practice. Thanks for watching if you did!
is 15.3v on tickover ok for a 12v battery?
This was the video series that got me hooked on your videos!!
oldie but a goodie!!!
Gotta do the Psyph Morisson's and Project D.G.A.F. next.
This the series that got me to subscribe og! Keep up the good work!
The Original shop that did, the original work need to be shut down if they work is like this. Im glad there is people like Steve who takes pride i they work and wanna se it dont right
Man I really appreciate dudes like him. That actually take pride in their work and do it Right. Not just rushing to get the next dollar and doing mediocre work. Love the video.
Aww WTH? I did not have an hour and a half to watch all this, I didn't even come on UA-cam looking for a car audio video. Now I'm 1.5 hours late & forgot what I was even looking for to begin with.... Best sidetrack ever!!! Lol, good shit. 👌
Grandma ma's old lamp cord damn bro lol!!! I remember that video I laughed my balls off at that
Bro this is like watching a series on Netflix but even better especially for bass heads. Im glad u took the time to integrate the whole tear down and install into one video. U have my full respect on everything u do and hopefully just one day I could get an install in my burban from u. Ur the GOAT in the car audio industry. Keep it up homie
I watched the enitre video and really enjoyed seeing the trash get turned into gold. Great design and craftsmanship. Great tip on that sunflash resin.
This was one of my favorite! “Grandmas lamp cord” lol
I remember
Same here bro. Steve was the first person I ever subsided to. I’d say 2005
I was big into doing systems back in the late eighties early nineties my son just turned 16 and I bought two kicker 10s and a cheap crunch 1500 watt amp for 80 bucks from a local guy off Facebook and me and my son built a box to go under the back seat of my 05 Silverado that I gave to him. I used good wires and the wood I used for the box was some wood from my nephew ordering work equipment from Japan. The box I built the 10’s are facing forward and stick out about 4 inches from the back seat. I did a divider in the middle of the box I also did some cheap door speakers and tweeters over the door. In all I have less than 200 bucks in the whole system and it looks and sounds great a lot cleaner than this. It just goes to show you don’t need alot of money to have fun building something with your child.
That's a 72 Chevelle. What that idiot shop did was nothing short of sacrilege. It survived 50 years before they hacked at it with a Sawzall. Replacement sheet metal doesn't grow on trees and interior parts aren't always available. Wtf.
I hope someone leaks the name of that shop, just so they'll never get another customer.
Really liking your attn to detail. Not everyone would fiberglass pods for the kick panels, they'd just free-air the speakers. The matching wiring and terminals was a nice touch too. Craftsmanship is a dying art and I'm really glad you are keeping it alive and passing it on to future generations.
Back watching all the old series again. Hope to see more of these types of deals in the future with all the upgraded knowledge and shop tools.
Plot twist..this dude installed everything himself then made Meade feel sorry for him so he would hook him up 😂
I disagree. I know the dude for a long time. He got money/ house/ @ mo than 3 cars. Dont hate homie, just appreciate the ride @ its new "Meade System!!
Right!😂👍
Yeah, that's what happened. 😆
@@dedricturner4739 source: Trust me
Lmao that would be a fucking trip
"gramma's lamp cord... someone's grama's pissed" LMFAO mannn I laughed so hard
I really just watched every single minute of this and didn’t skip once
Not disappointed by the way this was a crazy rebuilt good job
This guys a genius huh
Steve u r a prime example of an HONEST business man! 👍🏾
Bout died when he said “grandmama’s lamp cord” 🤣
I’m an installer at Progressive auto sounds. When you work on cars you put your passion into it. Nothing else.
Well said. And when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.
This is the build that turned me into a subscriber. Good job as always steve 🤟
This motivates me to finish my build. I remember the series but I may have missed a video. It is better to have the series all together but only the true fans are going to watch the whole thing
It’s crazy to think I started following you when I was in middle school and I’m 26 now 😂 All love from tha 414 brotha 💯
This is one of my favorite SMD videos. I learned a LOT watching Steve fix the mistakes.
That resin is AMAZING! Mind blown fr!
At 1 hour and 30 minutes, I was waiting at any new surprise at every minute of it. Simply amazing, I even feel like calling this video "beautiful"! When it comes to sound system installs, this is the most awesome video I have ever watched; and I have watched hundreds of them. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!!!!!
I remember that u now wat. I still remember wen u started doing your videos on UA-cam i been a subscriber since u hade the Tahoe with the biggest n loudest watts in your Tahoe 500.000 wats that drove me in to start my project in my cars thank u god bless brother n kip moving forward from jose osorio from Philadelphia
I aprichiate that u have a hart n like wen people talk to u my brother god bless u n the family n every one that work with u in the company
Awesome !!!, I hesitated when I saw 01h:30m video, but man, I couldn't stop watching it, it mesmerizes me, and so glad I found it !!
Legend says grand mama is still pissed about that lamp cord
This series is the first videos I ever watched from this channel
5 racks??? Buddy got robbed!!! That amp cooling system was fire 🤣
👍👍love these days! Old school! Install! Days of craftsmanship! I do all my install from scratch by hand! Same way probably like a lot of us bassheads that build in driveway today!!
I remember this bring back so many memories
Still one of the best SMD builds to this day. I love re-watching this series of videos. Turning a botched custom install job into perfection.
It does bring a lot of inspiration for builds, and it serves as a good lesson in what to do and what not to do when installing car stereos.
Kinda sad that Moke sold the car so soon after. It would have been cool seeing it again someday.
Man I remember watching this years ago 😎🤟🏽 I was just waiting for the next video to be uploaded on the progress of the system
Good Shit Steve 🔥
As a former installer, recognize some serious talent and love for the industry. Outstanding job! Glad this popped up on my feed.
I loved these old builds but UA-cam didn’t make it easy to watch them in order
Bro, I remember this one. worth watching again phenomenal install. Dudes facial expressions when he got his ride back done right! Priceless.
"I ain't never heard no American Bass shit" - I love this guy
Just revisited all the videos the last 3 months actually the last 4 months all together trying keep my sanity currently in the healing process from a double whammy surgery can't do much of anything but sit and lay around in the house!! Thanks SMD for the content keeps me positive during this whole process!!!
I remember I use to do installs like this to my own cars before I had a clue on what the hell I was actually doing but for a shop to do this kind of work and be proud of it is crazy lol
I seriously doubt a shop did this installation😂
@@catherineharris4746 they did. Drugs are bad.
I remember commenting about this video. This is gut wrenching to watch, to see someone taken advantage of like that. All he wanted was his car to Thump and be proud of it.
"Someone's grandma is pissed!" 🤣👌 This dude did a horrible job!
This is not an "install", it's just equipment connected together. Seen plenty of bad ones on youtube, this one takes the cake.
are you talking about BEFORE i fixed it? I would think so...
@@meade916 Of course! the new install is beautiful, I love the old time videos cause I can learn from it as DIY without all the pro machines.
I've seen thousands of installs and built a many. You sir, are above next level!! I'm constantly impressed with your work and finish! You are definitely the Man!!
For 5G's, that shop NEEDS to be called out! That shit is nuts
Been thinking of upgrading the stock speakers in my 03 Mini Cooper but after watching this I have got some serious plans now and rethinking my whole approach
Your one of the Best… Audio Installers….💯
I appreciate that! Thank you! :)
I’m 50min in and still loving it. Awesome video! Thx 4 taking the time 👍. I can’t wait to see the end result 🤩
Same thought. Still a great throwback
This has so much replay value...#classic
I haven't had a system in a vehicle since around 98 to about 2002. Damn things have changed since I was bumping in my s10...lol. circuit city done my install and I always enjoyed it a ton. Everyone around me seemed to love it too. Had 2 of the 12' kicker comps with x9s in the doors and dash and tweeters throughout. My ol my the equipment has changed a bunch
Steve does better one handed then most do with two and with help!!!
A trip down memory lane. This was one of my favorite video series.
Been a viewer since 2006. I miss these old gems
thank you Jesse bro. I appreciate you more than you know! thanks for the years!! :) :)
No matter how many times I watch this Grandma’s lamp cord always gets me lol
It's weird not hearing CNC machines and lasers running non stop in the shop 😅.
Or his husky coming around
Steve.. all I can say is you are bad azz, with your eye 👁 and love for detail it is second to none....
I can't believe a real shop did that....maybe he did it himself 🤣🤣🤣
i watched this whole series as it came out, this was a legendary build. keep killing it steve.
Dude was an Architect reincarnated! Work skills level 💯
Man that's was NASTY
....The little bit of time I've been following I've learned a lot ...thanks for sharing and teaching
Thatz what u call backyard bullshit😵😵😵 The tweeter glued to the other speaker broke my heart! Who's crackhead uncle did this?!
I've purchased spools of lamp cord for speaker wire before. It works great for how cheap it is, flexibility is a plus. I'd never use it on an install someone's paying me for though.
straight up cardboard had me dead 💀💀
I have never seen such beautiful workmanship as this man.
Im not the proudest of my own install but holy shit I cannot belive a shop made someone pay for that
I wasn’t even surprised to see the shop with barely any equipment I been watching so long
Wow. $5000 down the drain is no joke...rolling fire hazard....
Great repair
Cardboard shelf ftw. Cannot believe folk thought that was ok lol xx
Hey yo yhat tweeter glued tk the China speaker was on some real dope shit!! GODDAMN
I would of never thought about changing that positive cable on the alternator it all makes sense amazing work bro 😔💪💯
that Hodge podge bullshit was a nightmare that just wouldnt end. i cant believe someone charged him $5k to do $5k worth of damage to that sweet classic. thats absolutely criminal in more ways than one.
Playlists are great too! Thanks for all the hard work. It’s an education.
playlists never play in order for some reason.
No way a shop did that installation!😂😂😂
Bro you are where you are at because of your perfection and pride you take in your work. I honestly can't believe what people do installing crap like that and taking his money. Just sad, But you really do beautiful work thank you for sharing this 👍💯🎶🎶 👍
This installer needs to be called out. What a total piece of crap install. Let's skip the carpet and smear it with shit . That's a million times better than what said installer provides.
Just re-watched the whole install or re-work of this Chevelle! Bad ass! Thanks!!
Of course we’ve got custom cooling.....
Pretty tight
Ahahahaa I diiied laughing
I remember this came out like 2010 or maybe earlier or something it was a long time ago
I felt inspired in my 20s so I paid so much money to get a mechman 370 amp wired in a Toyota Avalon xls
Big 3 upgrade
Couple yellow tops
2 amps pushing Atomic Audio APXX 18” in 10 cubes port tuned super low
And now I can’t hear anything to this day hahaha
Huge fan of the content Steve 😎
- I still got a 15” in my mustang as a back seat lol
Could of at least had LEDs on the pc fan for cooling lmfao.....
I’m up 1:30 am binged watching this all over again !!! Great build and that car was 🔥. But my all time favorite is the original Tahoe with the big Fosgate amps man that thing is beast mode 🔥🔥💪🏾
Ain't no way a shop did that...wtf
Excellent fabrication work! Watched from start to finish. I did my own install work up until my 2020 Ram 1500 in which I paid a shop to install my JL Audio gear from my 14' Ram 1500. Found my crossovers dangling under the dash by the wires for the front door and dash tweeters. I'm not even sure where the rear door crossovers are but I am sure they are not installed securely either. Sucks paying for half ass work.
That shit is straight up cardboard. 😂 I was waiting for this classic.
That cardboard is classic asf
Man, holy throw back. Brings back good memories for sure!
I would end up with a charge if I saw how my 5 grand was spent with that other shop.
My first install ever was 2 6x9s in sealed boxes (1988ish). Powered by a Radioshack amp. The amp was a 1/2 din mount size. I used to think it bumped. 😄
American bass is some good shit though
Amazing job. So refreshing to see someone who takes pride in their work.
"Custom cooling, that's tight" lmfao omg
that part got me good
Been with ya since the OG Tahoe install in the home garage...!!🤘🤘
Been great watching your channel get bigger and your installs and techniques get better...🔥🔥🙌🤘
i like these start 2 finish things 👌
You're an expert at your craft man. Really cool to see you work. Like an artist and his canvas I guess.
Damn the stereo. He needs to spend some money on that interior
How do these companies expect return customers when such poor Quality was done. This guy was willing to pay top dollar. He's the perfect customer. I like that Steve took this project On. No doubt he's coming back on his Next build
$5000! Wtf my boy got his money took took!
Enjoyed.Watched from beginning to end.Clean professional installation. Surprising to hear he sold vehicle 2 weeks later
13mm socket on the battery holder🤦🤔🤣
I enjoyed EVERY minute of this hour and a half long video bro. Super clean install and step by step coverage!! I'm in Sac myself and def gonna have to bring my next whip to you and have it done proper!!
Yeah a shop didn’t install that. Pretty sure he installed that himself and just didn’t want to say it.
you are pretty sure how? You made that determination from your chair sitting on your lazy ass in your living room? LOL....ohhhh kayyyy

@@scottgoad9200 very well said. 💯
Very nice I watched this entire series from the 1st video. Worked for a company called Al and eds autosound in San Diego, we had 10 locations and another 46 through out los Angeles area. But I worked there for 20 years up till the year 2003 and fabrication has come along ways. I was a reginal manager at the end but I managed store locations for 15 years prior and I've seen the very best, we use to do alpine card Boston cars and a bunch of famour peoples cars you know how that goes. But nicely done bro. I'm at an hour and 13 minutes I to your video think your about to build the templit for the wmo rack we will see. Again bro simple but very very solid you know what your doing.
Looks like a case of "I know a place that can do it cheaper".
Easily top 3 builds of all time! I remember watching the series back in the day. Giving me ideas now for the build on my brand new charger
Brown lamp cord almost lit my gf's tv power cable on fire so I had to show her this video to let her know not to use gram mama's lamp cord for anything.
