You didn't really go into it, but the 5:59 profile is extra funny because Holy Mountain is a cult-classic masterpiece that is also a supremely weird western made by and for people on acid with a lot of out-there religious and psychosexual themes. Then there's Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
7:35 i could see someone put the last three films as their favourites and say "huh, this guy likes movies with simple story and emotion" and then theres just fucking whiplash as number one. I mean i also put it there but as quoting some random guy (i forgor who) "One of these things is not like the other"
One of two things. The guy is a racist or because of it's supposed historical significance (Yes cinema's least proud moment). Historical significance is the most likely reason, or at least I hope so. Or he's just taking the mick, there's that option too. Something I would be concerned about as well is he's called Alex DeLarge and yet A Clockwork Orange isn't in his top 4. That film is a masterpiece.
@@DVDandFilmBlokeIt's easy to assume how people are based on a favorite film or a rating; it's Letterboxd users' favorite sport, especially the youngest so-called "SJW". The Birth of a Nation is a massive source of controversy for anyone. For me, it's one of the darkest depictions and endorsements of systemic racism ever put to film, glorifying the Ku Klux Klan. I have my own share of films watched (4,700), and I must admit, there is absolutely nothing that compares to it in its time period and even considering modern cinema. It's a massive production with techniques that didn't necessarily pioneered (as many claim), but were put in mainstream cinema for audiences for the first time. Storytelling-wise, editing-wise, it's flawless. The pacing is relentless and the immense scope for capturing conflicts is grandiose. It is, technically, one of the best films ever made, and many silent film enthusiasts like me are big fans of Lillian Gish. That is why I gave the film 5 stars and it is, indeed, one of my favorites. The very bad taste in the mouth always remains, but for someone studying film, and most importantly, history enthusiasts, it is a mandatory watch, in the latter case because it is a historically accurate product of its time and it is key to understand how Griffith played a role in the tragic expansion of the KKK. Just like a film's depiction of themes does not equal endorsement (in this case it is), a rating does not necessarily equal approval either (but one never knows the user), as in say, loving The Godfather does not mean we endorse the mafia or criminal families. We just appreciate the film as a film.
I get the highlighting funny profiles that have something unique. But making fun of or getting angry at someone who has movies in their favourites that you or a lot of people don't like? Or rating them highly. Really? Newsflash: opinions differ. Grow up.
I mean no offence to anyone featured in this video. It’s perfectly alright to like a movie I don’t and I respect that. This kind of video was always going to be very opinion heavy but I was just trying to play it up to try to make people laugh.
My profile is Zombie_Pudding if you want to make fun of mine in another video, lol. I do change my favorites every once in awhile depending on my mood and they are usually themed. I also should mention that I rate the Friday the 13th movies very highly. 😂
3:15 Ok Rise of the Planet of the Apes is very good, Dawn is Ok, War is eh and the remake is complete shit. If my favourites were Planet of the Apes movies I would at least include some of the originals.
1 unforgiven 2 citizen Kane 3 Elvis 2022 4 scarface 5 the good the bad and the ugly 6 Django unchained 7 the big lebowski 8 back to the future 9 the Irishman 10 casino What about you? :D
