If you haven't seen Vox Lux, you really should. It's my favorite movie of the year, and I've seen 'em all! Chillingly beautiful and thought provoking, and every detail has a purpose. Natalie Portman's voice isn't the best, but it's not supposed to be-- the movie makes a point of showing that. Don't pay attention to the polarized reviews, it's truly a masterful work of art.
it was thoroughly engaging and i'm still haunted by it weeks later. the haters went to a film expecting something they didn't get. this movie was awkwardly paced to put you in a state of unease, because life is uneasy. you never quite know where it's going. the film captured the loneliness and desperation for human relation quite well. this wasn't 'a star is born.'
Her hometown was Syosset, NY. I graduated from the same school as Natalie. I graduated in 1987. She graduated 12-13 years or so after me. Natalie Portman is her stage name. Think I read her parents still live on Long Island.
