  • Putin's 3-day election in Russia has started and already the list of voter irregularities and crazy incidents are endless. Macron has woken up the French nation and they have declared they are officially all-in on making sure Russia is defeated in Ukraine. Ukraine has now launched drone strikes against 14 of Russia's 30 oil refineries with significant amounts of Russia's refinery capacity being taken off line now.

      Jake, do you know that trump ad's are running on your videos. Does UA-cam allow you to filter out such advertisements?

    • @stargazer-elite
      @stargazer-elite 3 місяці тому

      @@colinwinogradoff6794 from what I know UA-cam creators can choose what ads play on their videos, but only for parts of the video they choose to have ads on like let’s say a creator decided to put an ad in the middle of the video they could choose what adds that could be
      but UA-cam does put ads throughout the video randomly depending on how long it is and those are usually completely random but they do depend on what you watch and what you buy, etc. and sometimes they have something to do with the video like if it’s a political video such as war in this case, then sometimes U2 will choose an ad for that occasion. And I believe other times the ad creator can just pay UA-cam to put their ads in whatever videos they want. It’s likely that’s what Trump is doing.
      I am not an expert I expect to be wrong in some of this, but I thought I’d give my best shot at it to help

      Indeed. It is disgusting, the GOP has become a party of traitors who oppose democracy. Americans should choose wisely. I know another 4 years of Democrat rule will be damaging to the country, but unlike the damage the GOP would be doing, the harm the Democrats cause is at least partly reversible. If America loses it's status as the world's only superpower, once it's gone it's gone for good, including all the wealth that comes with having the world's primary reserve currency.

    So, if I’ve understood this correctly, congress works 3 days a week for around two weeks every month and even when they are working they completely fail to make any decisions whatsoever and Mike Johnson simply looks for smart-ass ways to keep kicking the can down the road. This is truly appalling and if I were an American I would be seething with rage at the incompetence and impotence of our elected leaders. I’m reasonably sure that Americans will do the right thing come November and vote these idiots out, but in them meantime innocent Ukrainians are dying and the problem is critically urgent. Mike Johnson has got blood on his hands and he should be ashamed. Moderate Republicans need to do the right thing and take action to deal with this aberration and restore the reputation of their party.

      The reason this is so hard for the US to deal with is because Congressional districts are drawn (literal geographical maps based on population of each state) by state legislators. So whoever is in charge when the maps are drawn, tend to draw them in their favor such that the party not in power will have as few districts as possible with the highest percentage of voters of the that party all stuffed into those districts and the opposite with the party that controls the drawing of those maps. That is to say a guy like Mike Johnson has a district that is almost totally secure for him when it comes to elections because it is drawn to only have R voters living in his district. That way he can totally ignore any and everything outside his safe space. Google USA gerrymandering if you ever want to see some really odd shapes.

      I sadly agre with you i don't think the GOP can be saved. And although i very much disagree politicaly with old style republicanes. It is healthy for a truly democratic country that they also have a large functional party representing them. Functionale conservatisme isn't a bad or dirty thing in my opnion. It just that the US does need some majorchanges and conservatives aren't that good at those. They are good for creating stability if they are functionale conservatives. Sorry to say this but Biden is actualy more a functionale conservative he should be more the leader of a centrist conservative party then for the dems but since you don't have a party like that in the states......

    why is the US political system so broken? A speaker of the house should be there to monitor and mediate discourse. They are NOT the controller of WHAT is discussed they are there to ensure a fair and balanced debate. I base my comments on the role of a speaker in th UK parliament. I really do not understand how a 'speaker' of the house can decide WHAT is discussed and voted on. How is that possible? The US really needs to re-evaluate some of their political roles. Having a non elected person in 'charge" of the 'Speaker' role being able to undermine the President is just madness.

    • @chriswinstanley6824

      Since 1776, you get to say how things work in the United Kingdom, not in the United States of America. The definition of the role of the speaker of he House of Commons is LIMITED TO the Parliament that meets at Westminster AND NOWHERE ELSE (not even Ottawa or Canberra)! The role of the Speaker of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is for AMERICANS to decide, AND NO ONE ELSE.
      We have a written Constitution in the U.S., which WE follow. Article I, Section 4 provides, "Each House [the House of Representatives and the Senate] may determine the Rules of its Proceedings …" The rules of the House of Commons in Westminster DO NOT APPLY to the U.S. Congress. The current rules apparently give the Speaker very extensive control over the House of Representatives calendar. Those rules are adopted at the beginning of each biennial Congress by a majority vote of all of the duly elected members, and can be changed by a majority of THEM, not by anybody in the United Kingdom, at any time.
      The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives has always had role larger than "to monitor and mediate discourse." The Speaker should defend the prerogatives of the chamber, but has always been the manager of the House, working through the majority party or, in rare cases, a majority coalition. Johnson is a weak speaker for both institutional reasons (factionalism within a very narrow majority) and personal reasons (lack of experience and widespread personal connections and support within his own party).

      ie, broken. Your "The" constitution was not carved in stone / handed down from God, you know. If you could get past slavery, surely you can correct other glaring errors in your system? Rather than being defensive and precious, leaning to arrogant and xenophobic? Ie what we in the rest of the world see commonly displayed by some Americans (Trump, anyone?) Have some humility.... The final paragraph of your answer was helpful though :)@@chriswinstanley6824 We in the rest of the world are aware we cannot change USA's constitution but when YUS politics affect us, surely we can point stuff out or just be frustrated without you exploding. It’s quite clear that Mike Johnson is acting in bad faith. He knows that the majority of the house or representatives would vote for military aid to Ukraine - so he is preventing that vote from taking place - he is working against the will of the house.
      The scope of the role he has needs to be reduced so that someone in that position cannot systematically thwart the will of the house by persistently disallowing a vote.
      This action cannot be allowed to keep continuing.

When the USA was attacked by Bin Laden's murderers the UK and NATO stood by the USA and went to fight for them. Then they betrayed us by running away in the night. Now the Speaker of the House has earned my total contempt for his betrayal of Ukraine. Is this what America is about ?

      Pre-WW2 most Americans did not care nor want to have anything to do with Europe. That they were getting into another war with each other was not any of our concern (so the line of thought went at the time), so there was not any obligation by treaty or popular opinion of the population to give a damn what went down between European states. The UK very much did have a treaty with Poland. Anglo-Polish Communiqué. So it was not on principle alone, but by obligation as well. That it happened to be against an existential evil made it easy to get the population of the UK behind the war. Europeans (French in particular) have this weird notion that the US really enjoyed and got excited about 2 wars in Europe as if they were some grand plan of ours to try and put ourselves in a position so we could finally tell Europe what to do. It's odd, but I can promise them neither of my grandfathers or any of their fellow Americans had any desire for a European or Pacific get away. Who ran away in the night from what? He is a weasel of a pale vestige of a man that deserves nothing less.

    This video left me feeling a bit more upbeat, even with the sad ending. I’m going to attempt a letter to the editor of our local newspaper. The county I live in, located in East Tennessee includes a military contractor who has received contracts out of our funding for Ukraine aid. Yet my local congressional representative continues to be opposed to any additional funding for Ukraine. She talks about not wanting to send money to Ukraine when there are hungry women and children here at home. Of course I haven’t seen her do anything to help alleviate hunger here at home. So I am going to try to increase local understanding about how the funding for Ukraine has supported the local community. Those high-paying jobs at the military contractor’s manufacturing facility result in money spent throughout our community and local businesses. We need to work to dispel the myth that we are sending boatloads of dollars to Ukraine, when the reality is so very different.

    Shouldn't somthing be amended in the Constitution if the Speaker of the House has that much ability to frustrate what would clearly be a majority decision, already passed by the Senate?

    • @LackofFaithify
      @LackofFaithify 3 місяці тому

      They already have rules that allow bypassing him in some way. You have to have a majority though. So in theory if you get every D you would need 5 Rs to cross over. The current Ukraine aid bill is in together with Israeli war funding and border security (the later two being compromises the Ds were willing to make in the Senate to get the Rs on board), so you have most, but not all Ds in the House ready to vote, but no Rs willing to join, so no majority, so no bypassing the Speaker. You can also, with a majority, just kick the Speaker and get a new one, but you'd probably find even less to back that as it is all so caucus obsessed in the House.

    • @2Dylandog
      @2Dylandog 3 місяці тому

      @@LackofFaithify Yes, but the process really takes too long when frankly it has become a matter of urgency. Also it appears there are more ways the speaker can put spokes in the wheel.

      It is only when we work towards a goal together that we are able to achieve great things. The amount of money being spent should not be the deciding factor about what to do. It is the desired result that should guide us in the decision making. We are all interconnected on this planet and sometimes we have to share what we have to help others in need. Conversely, others will need to come to our aid. That is why looking back through American history the policy of isolationism has never worked and will not work now (Yes, I purposely paraphrased President Reagan). Some of our fellow brothers and sisters have lost their way and aren’t looking back through history for the important lessons. Those in the US who believe that we are untouchable are forgetting some important parts of history:
      1- 1917 German resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare & the Zimmermann telegram.
      2- Pearl Harbor
      3- Cuban Missile Crisis 1962
      4- 9/11
      5- Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns 2008- now.
      These are but a few of the more modern events to show that we Americans are not invincible and we are stronger with our allies rather than standing alone. 🫶🏼
      As two wise elders said for their own people it can also be applied here too, “Peace Through Unity!” - Austin Two Moons and Enos Poor Bear Sr.
      Now let’s get Moscow Mike out of power. He’s part of this group who is destroying our country. No one person should have that much power! 🤬
      -the Enlightenment Philosophers.
