I earned a degree from Cornell University and a degree from the University of Idaho. I find it annoying how many people make a big deal out of university rankings such that many look down on the University of Idaho and are impressed by Cornell University. Both of the universities I attended had excellent academic programs.
As a burnt out UCB student I love watching these, reminds me how excited I once was n how i still should be. Congrats on all the acceptances!! Good Luck 💕💕
Congrats, I'm so proud of you!!!! This year was such a terrible, unpredictable year for admissions 😭😭 As an OOS, I got rejected from UCLA (I'm appealing bc that's my dream school), UCB, UCI, Stanford, AND USC. But I got guaranteed transfer to Georgia Tech and USC + a waitlist at NYU and acceptance to UNC. To those of you that have finished the college application process or will begin the process in the following years, please don't place your self-worth on a school accepting or rejecting you. It's so emotionally draining and I had to learn that the hard way lol. P.S. Hopefully UCLA accepts my appeal so we can be classmates in the fall xD (manifesting)
@@swishbish4525 to request for a spot at the university. you essentially make your case on why you think the decision finalized was not satisfactory and that it's possible there's room for further evaluation. if the admissions committee finds your case engaging enough, they might call you for a face-to-face meeting and evaluate you accordingly. if they find you a good fit, they'll withdraw their original decision and admit you to the college.
UCLA graduate here.. addicted to watching these videos for some reason even though I’m in medical school lmao but congrats !! You’re gonna love UCLA it’s a beautiful campus and great location and people are cool and definitely not as competitive as they would be in Ivy League, enjoy every second of it!!!

Btw, Aditi, UCLA admissions decisions have just come out for the (your) high-school senior class entering in 2022, and the admissions rate dropped to 8.6%, which makes UCLA the first public university in the US to have < 10% admit rate.
its crazy how the admission process works. some schools you get into you never you had a chance and you get rejected from where your safty school. I got into USC and UCB but rejected by LSU and Miami.
I was so rooting for you to NYU. My kid is having a great time there. Sorry about that. Unsure you would have taken it. Surprised that you didn’t choose Berkeley. Guessing, may be it’s the major and the proximity that UCLA won you over. Congrats on the UCLA!!! All the best.
Congrats!! You had me smiling so hard at ucla! I’m planning to commit as well within the next week. Hope to see you around and possibly become friends! I really need more once friends hehe :)

I saw on one of your college decisions that you applied as a Political Science major. Assuming that you might have law school as your grad-school choice, you can still turn the tables and be accepted to an Ivy school of law, which has happened often for UCLA grads who have been rejected by Ivy colleges. Just as a note, UCLA just started offering a Social Data Science minor for social-science majors if you're thinking about analytics, or you can double or minor in Stats. You have numerous options as a polisci major, if indeed this is your pathway. All the best...
This, but also for an MPA or MPP program. I was an ok HS student and would have never gone to an Ivy. In college I excelled in policy work and got into top ten public policy programs, including two Ivy’s. Look into internships, fellowships, and start building your resume early! Aditi, definitely look at multiple options, law school is not the end road, but if an Ivy education is, then go for it.

@@davea6314 I understand what you mean about one of your educational institutions being looked down on, but that is due to the prejudices of others that will always exist in this country. I also wish there was an end to it because beliefs like these inherently exclude bright minds from opportunities. At the same time, I understand why students might make attending a prestigious university their ultimate goal. I went to a state school with few accolades to its name. Even so, because of the opportunities provided to me, I was able to become involved and pursue the career of my dreams. I believe that obtaining a degree from an accredited degree program in the United States is already prestigious, but as a first-generation immigrant student, the opportunities available are vastly different. In comparison to my undergrad, I now have access to career services that are second to none, as well as the opportunity to meet and engage with students/alumni/employers that I would not have had access to without the prestigious name of a university. I'm not saying it's fair, but the world we live in is definitely difficult for students who are the first in their families to obtain a degree/ come from low-income families/ lack connections.
