One thing I will say about using jack stands is that you can get the car level easier. Put some lug nuts in the hub and put a jack stand under the lug nuts. Make sure not to mess up the threads, of course. Being level is the biggest concern (other than temp of trans) for properly performing this repair.
Hey! Have you done a video on rear sport diff fluid change? I would love to see your process on that. I’m about to take care of transmission, transfer and both diffs fluid changes all together
Audi say oil for life however that isn’t the case and you were correct to change the transmission fluid , however the main filter is incorporated into the pan so this should also be changed but at 15k miles I suppose it doesn’t matter , if you change this part and oil for OEM it would cost $500 . I have the same question and thought this needed to be done. I have a b9 2.0t and have seen that not only do you do this drain and fill but should also release pressure in accumulator and check pressure upon refill plus temp specs to get the correct reading.
@@drewmccurdy3595 I went ahead and did it yesterday and did not disable the pump/ empty the accumulator, I ended up draining out 3quarts of fluid. I think the only down side to not emptying out the accumulator is that it holds a good amount of fluid that won’t be drained. Over all transmission is good and no noises/ issues with my car. I read on a forum that if you change the manual trans fluid then you will definitely need to disable the pump and empty the accumulator. If you're concerned you could do multiple drain and fills, each one after driving for a bit. It's going to be expensive but if your fluid is breaking down, it will be cheaper than a transmission. If this is the case, however, remember to change the pan because that's where the filter is.
8-9 quarts is for a completely dry transmission. When you do a drain and refill all the fluid does not come out as some stays in the torque converter, mechanic unit, and other parts. So yea it will be about 4quarts. I would buy 5 just incase
