Jasper is a delight, and his accent is so good I kept forgetting that isn't just how he talks.
♪ Fruit and veggies, meat and grains - feed your body, feed your brains ♫
Andy and the gang are firing on all cylinders with this episode. The creative enemies, the funny dialogue, and the brilliant improvisation from Andy and the entire table. Well done everyone!
also new GETH semony pay close attention
"Banana with a six. King for the apple." You know when fruit is about to go first in initiative that s**t just got weird.
Delacy, still on a cotton-candy sugar high, blasting away at fruits and vegetables is brilliant.
Fruit or veggies and sugar or salt on them, yes. Broccoli and cheese, yas queen!
Jasper was such an incredible guest! I'd love to see him in more Oxventure
I haven't been a massive fan of the cameos in Oxventure D&D in the past but Jasper did an incredible job! What a great character!
(I do love the one off adventures btw I just mean the cameos in the main serieses)
His physical comedy is incredible! That bit where he drowned the man with the ore
Jasper is always a great pleasure to watch. the characters are always so funny.
Did you see the Oxventure special where they played "You Awaken In A Strange Place"? Jasper was in that as well, and it was pure chaos 😂
@@MrAlbieWan oh yes I did. I was dying of laughter
I can't believe I just realised the four horsemen theme with the main bosses. Hildegard UNGER, a.k.a. H. UNGER is Famine, GENERAL Bellows is War and Conquest in one, Daisy Ducreoux is obviously Pestilence and M. T. Buderoux, as a judge of souls and particular fan of capital punishment and sickle-guns, is Death.
Some of the references are really smart (I just realised how Hilde's name literally contains HUNGER as I was writing this) and the villains themselves were made nice and unique as well as fun to see brought down. I wonder if there'll be a twist about Victoria at the end, but this is stellar so far.
I fully expect a twist at this point. I'm kind of thinking she gave those 4 those rings and now she wants them back. I'm no longer buying her reasoning for wanting them dead. That house of hers was awful bare and I don't believe she had much at all by way of personal items showing her family or anything. Seems mighty suspicious to me.
@@SolaScientia From what we heard, she had sold most of her own stuff to get the funds to hire the gang to take down her enemies. This most likely includes her personal effects too. But I do agree there seems to be more about her than meets the eye. Especially since this episode just ends. It stops. Hilde goes *poof* and the episode just stops. Meaning there is at least one extra episode where they take the rings to Victoria, but since I doubt they'd make a whole video that's 20 minutes long and just has Victoria saying "Congratulations!" like the end of Evangelion, Andy surely has something left up his sleeve.
@@darklord884 In fairness, most of the Deadlands episodes kind of just stop after the big boss is defeated. It's one thing I miss from Blades in the Dark-the escape, not necessarily all the way back to the base, but at least out of the target location.
@@dominateeye To be fair, the Blades protagonists were all criminals, their escape was part of the job. The Wildcards in Deadlands are more straightforwardly heroic figures who each time liberate either a town or (in Daisy's case) a medical center from its evil overlord-like figure. At that point, there's no real reason to have an extra scene to describe how the entire town comes to celebrate them. Aside from Bellows, with whom it was the point that his subjugated townsfolk were just as happy to strip him of his valuables as they were the other dead guys.
But even beyond this, I feel the finale would require all players anyway, just as Blades in the Dark had it, so I'm fairly certain they will do some sort of final episode with Victoria, or maybe a secret 5th member of the gang being the last villain for all of them to fight.
To be totally honest, with this theory and the rings, i fully expect a "supernatural" reference.
So this is a Wild West setting, with Hitman-like missions and Resident Evil-esque horror elements? Andy must be in heaven.
Also for those who enjoyed Jasper it's just been announced he'll be on Dimension 20's upcoming season.
Jasper/Billy was so good!
Also, Marshall Andy’s outfits have been on f*cking point all season
Never thought a Brit would look so damn good in western attire. Mmm tall dark and handsome drink of water. Fucking smexy.
Alright, that was the craziest episode yet. FNAF Veggies. Bread Geoffrey. The Secret Cow Level. Then the day was saved by cannibalism. And Jasper was an absolute treat as always.
Also, definite confirmation that these four targets are based on the Four Horsemen
First was War. Second was Pestilence. Third was Death. Fourth was Famine.
Now what does Miss Victoria want these rings for?
I feel like she's collecting them from those she gave them to. Like, all 4 displeased her or something. Either way, I'd almost bet money that she's the final final boss. I can't really think of any other reason why she'd want those rings and I didn't really buy her story about her family; particularly with there being no personal affects like photographs or paintings of her family in the house.
@@SolaScientiaRik the shopkeeper perhaps?
@@zomburgerchef9587 As a boss? Not likely. I reckon it all centers on Victoria.
Honestly I was starting to wander if they are somehow related to the four horsemen. And if they are then I really wonder just exactly Sophia was planning this whole time.
@@SolaScientia from the game d&d heroes. Rik the shopkeeper was actually the evil wizard kaiden in disguise. You basically spend the whole game unwittingly helping him.
Andy htinking through the rules then going "It's my game, you can do it" YES SON. Love that energy.
Also more Jasper plz.
"Protect my innocence....if you can." and "I'll tackle breadman then, I guess." got me good 🤣🤣
What a ride this episode was!! Epic!!
Murdered two men in cold blood in a duel to the death. "Through the neck please" is what I believe he said to the DM, got some ice in dem veins that's why they be blue. Totally not innocent, ignorant yes but not innocent.
The joy of hearing this crew basically fight through Kitchen Cabaret meets Carousel of Progress really made my night. This series has been so much fun, makes me miss playing.
*quietly hums great big beautiful tomorrow all episode*
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realise the cricket noises were from this video.... in the nicest possible way to whomever edited this video... up yours 😂😂😂
The kitchen scene was missing a pear with arms and legs, gleefully holding a mug of red, viscous liquid. 😆
Nothing truly as evil as Nutritional Instruction.
Especially when it's sponsored by the sugar and corn lobby
It's going to be so weird hearing them speak in their natural accents again
Did you watch the "Lies of P" intelectual stream with elen and luke absent and some posh people there ^^?
billy slipping up and calling delacey his son made me so happy 🩷
Another great episode all around. Mechanical vegetable men as enemies though- maybe because someone holds a patent on a certain Mechanical Man?

Delacy made that banana split 😎
Luke is like the child out with his parents for the day
So are the 4 bad guys the four horsemen of the apocalypse? Aunt Hildy = famine, Daisy = pestilence, Judge = death and the general = war?
Servitors of them. In Deadlands the Reckoners, the big bads, are the Four Horseman. They can't cross over to the world in its current state so they strive to increase the amount of fear and suffering in the world to 'terrorform' it to their liking. They do that through the manitou, creating monsters, and through servitors.
@@SvenTSexgoreah cool, so not just a neat subtext thrown in for giggles. It's actual lore, cheers.
All I could think of when the "Judge" was ever mentioned was the Judge from Blood Meridian but only cartoonishly evil rather than being the actual Devil in that Western American Horror Story.
I can't wait to see Victoria's heal turn.
Oh man, this went very differently than I expected. So gosh darn creepy, too. Several times, I just went, Andy why?! But this was really funny, entertaining, and horrifying. XD Well done to all. I can't wait to see the next episode has in store. Funny feeling a big twist might come >.>;

late to watching this but I just have to say Jasper is so charming and delightful, always such a treat to see him here ^.^ this series has been awesome!! cowboys are very much not my thing but Andy's done such a great job with it!! and all the accents have been pretty solid too, y'all ^.^
Please bring back the guy who plays Bison Billy. He is excellent!
Jasper’s in some of the Oxventure one shots, plus he’s going to be in the latest season of Dimension 20. And, of course, he’s a third of the Three Black Halflings podcast. (They have some excellent RPG adventures, as well as fascinating and well run interviews.) The latest podcast had Andy as a guest talking about Deadlands.
@@barbararowley6077 I've seen the other Oxventure video with him in it, but I'm definitely going to have to check out the other stuff
I feel like Andy once living in Cambridge would know it takes no skill to use a pole to move a small boat, unless someone (definitely NOT a young Andy) stands on a bridge and steals your pole 😂

Well, the targets have definitely been escalating. That was gloriously horrific! Gives a whole new meaning to revenge being a dish best served cold…
Bad Ben Bellows suddenly looks pretty tame compared to the rest of the gang.
The combat in this encounter reminds me of a Yakuza battle. The outrageous costumes, the mad music, the over zealousness of the enemies..

At no point does anyone say “shoot the pants off an aunt”.
This is my first exposure to ttrpg and I love it. I now want to play as well as watch. This has been amazingly entertaining. Just like everything you guys do. Thank you!
I like how more often than not Andy’s npc voice is basically just Texas Chauncey 😂
The little slow circus music tune Andy sang is perfect since that's exactly what I was imagining at the end of Part 1 last week. Bison Billy with the casual drowning was hilarious.
Oh no, that merry-go-round reminds me of a very specific Disney ride that used to be called America Sings, which moved almost exactly as this one does (I think the seats moved and maybe the stage stayed still instead?). All I can think of is the ride attendant who was resetting the seats for the next group getting caught between the stage and the seats bits as they moved and she was killed. Pretty damn close to how Delacy would have been injured/killed. I'm so sorry that this has popped into my mind at the description of how this merry-go-round works.
I do love the "no"s yelled out when Andy picked up the deck of cards. Of course the animatronic veggies and fruit came to life. Of course. I felt like this is a bad trip or something. I feel like these automatons are Andy's way of regaining control over his WMM from Blades in the Dark since they kept giving the WMM emotions and all and it was driving Edvard nuts. ...I typed all that before yet more insanity happened with the bread section and now the slaughterhouse with the guy in a cow costume on a maxim gun. I honestly haven't played the 2nd of the 2 BioShock Infinite DLC, but I know it has the infamous boy dancing with the baguette and now that's all I'm picturing with bread animatronic. I'm honestly also imagining udders on the cow costume, because why not at this point.
Fun fact: I did not lose my last baby tooth until I was 12. I had to have oral surgery to remove 4 permanent premolars, because my teeth and mouth size do not mesh well and they decided I didn't need 2 sets of premolars (my teeth still don't have enough room even with being down 4 premolars and my wisdom teeth being out too). Anyway, they took out the last baby tooth I still had. My dad was the same way when he was a kid and having his baby teeth for much longer than usual.
"Does that move the needle?" Then Andy just looking up at Luke as he does a second dice roll is actually a bit awesome and hilarious.
I'm really expecting Victoria to be the final boss of this whole situation. I can't really think of why she'd want the rings and her reasoning seems less sound to me now. There are no mementos or anything in her house. No photographs or paintings of her family. At least I don't think she had much by way of personal items around.
Apparently revenge is a dish best served raw. Also I like how in the world, radio is developed enough for there to be famous radio cowboys but electric lights are so new no one knows what they are.
Finally, Andy has clearly done his homework on World's Fairs. So much reminded me of Erik Larson's "The Devil in the White City" (though I'm pretty sure HH Holmes wasn't stopped by two bounty hunters and Buffalo Bill Cody).
Definitely my favourite bounty, such great chemistry, an amazing balance between comedy and drama, Andy was in his BAG
Once again they made another fantastic episode.
So the red hand gang are now all dead, but I have no doubt that this story is still far from over.
Also not gonna lie it took way too long to realize that the gang memebrs are all related to the four horsemen of the apocalypse and now i really wonder hust exactly sophia is planning to do with these rings.
The name of the amazing music that plays during the animatronic fight is called Battleska by Rob Kelly, Andy revealed it in the podcast
Absolutely amazing - can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this series! Everyone is so into it, so perfect with their accents and characterisations; you've done an amazing job with crafting this world and I can't wait to see more! Jasper has slipped in absolutely seamlessly, and his chemistry with Ellen and Luke is wonderful to see! I really hope he returns for more Oxventure in the future! Andy's love for the subject matter is so obvious, and his passion for it is absolutely infectious - well done, all! Absolutely outstanding!! :-)
Watching/ listening back to this, I loce Andy's non verbal communication when he picks up the cards for the Veggie fight & for Delacy's damage
I had kind of perceived Bison Billy as sort of an NPC played by a guest, but I guess he's more of a guest PC? Not that there's a huge distinction, but I think I was wrong about that, yeah?
The distinction usually applies to effort and PCs conforming to a game mechanics standard.
I only point this out because I've recently run across people calling DMPCs by the nonsensical appellation of DMNPCs.
Yes he's a guest PC. Running a simple NPC isn't something that I often see Actual Plays do.
It's usually a substitution of narrators or other dialogue reasons.
The only straight up hand off that I can recall is Chris Perkins playing Spurt on CR and that was a spur of the moment thing.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue I mean, the actual distinction is that a guest PC is a regular character made by the guest playing them and a guest NPC is an NPC made by the DM that they've instructed the guest to play.
@@RvEijndhoven You could have simply replied to the OP. Because if you actually read what I wrote you should have been able to draw that conclusion from context.
Instead you went for a little bit of condescension as you assumed erroneously that I didn't already know.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue If you think that was clear, you might need to reconsider how you communicate, because it absolutely was not.
@@RvEijndhoven And that would be valid if that was, in anyway, the point that I was trying to make.
You atted me because I didn't make a point that you felt that I should. But you assumed I was trying to explain the fundamental/mechanical difference.
To clarify my point I was speaking as to how DMs generally don't have the time or energy to invest in a single NPC, because they are running so many, that a player does with their individual PC.
As such the OP was making a big deal out of semantics that were NOT important in this context. Essentially he shouldn't worry about it.
And you are still wrong about the other detail not being clear. But that is at least dependent upon whether you get the Spurt reference from CR campaign 2.
Anybody that understands the reference would be able to see a clear example of the concept.
And once again you are trying to condescend to me while being oblivious to what I'm actually saying.
The music in this episode makes me think of like... slapstick japer games and I'm all here for it because the combat is hilarious.
My oh my, what an episode! I did not see *that* coming.
I love all the Oxventures so much. I'm always a bit surprised at how bad everyone is at basic addition sometimes, though.
I could be way off here…but it just crossed my mind, what if the mysterious widow Victoria is the true big bad?
Is it possible all of these, umm…rings of power, could have been separated for a reason? Lol
Now we’re just rounding them all up and handing them over to the mysterious lady to accumulate Thanos style? It’s just a thought and I know that technically there has not been any suggestion that things hold any power. It just seems like we don’t know much about our quest giver’s backstory, except for what she herself told us, and the gang never really questions any of the primary targets about Victoria too much either, so it’s possible they could’ve perhaps told a different tale about her true origins…
“ protect my innocence if you can “
Says the boy who shot three people in the throat ! Lol 😂
I'm gonna have that horrible veggy chant stuck in my head forever now. It lives here rent free. Thanks Andy.
Ha! It WAS usefull to waste Andy's time by going on the ferris wheel! Hedonism: 1 - common sense: too many to count.
Sometimes its like Delacy has v.a.t.s
Sometimes?!
I get the feeling that Andy might still be haunted by one of the clips from Rifftrax: The Game: "Fruit and vegetables, four servings every day!"
It's a four horseman of the apocalypse story!!!!!!!! War was Benjamin Bellows, Pestilence was Daisy Dukrow, Death was M.T. Budreau, and Famine is Aunt Hilde!
1:11:45 the bit with the contract kills me every time 😂
I am a huge fan of the music that was playing during the fight in the food presentation. I know Luke did some of the music in this series, was that one of his?

The actual term applied to the Winchester Model 1892 rifle or a modern derivative of it. It was originally the name of a custom Model 1892 created by Von Dutch and Steve McQueen. It appeared in an episode of Trackdown where McQueen was playing a bounty hunter and later in Wanted Dead or Alive which McQueen starred in. It's now a generic name for the shortened rifle model. There is a company that makes a shotgun variant from a Winchester Model 1887 series replica. This kind of Mare's Leg was best known as the weapon of The Terminator in T2.
Is it a coincidence they have a Billie Joe with the same background music as the music video for Green Day’s Back in the USA music video?
After a bit of reading, the Maxim gun would have been brand new. Hiram Maxim’s patents were filed in 1884 with the Pom-Pom gun, a 37mm autocannon based on Maxim’s patents, made by Maxim-Nordenfelt and later Vickers, Sons & Maxim, was patented in 1890.
1800’s firearms are a weird fixation of mine. Considering the time period, the Maxim here was _probably_ in .303 British, the American army formally adopted the Maxim in 1904, and were put into full production in 1908 chambered for the then-new .30-06 cartridge, the same as the new M1903 Springfield service rifle.
That’s all fifteen-odd years after this, though. Delacy would be in his thirties by the time there’s an actual American Maxim.
Shhhhhhh it's a terrible thing to let facts get in the way of a good story 🤣
Ok all very interesting - and what year were the violent vegetable robots brought to life in? 😜
Once of the conceits of Deadlands is that the manitou are accelerating technological advances to increase the amount of death, suffering, and fear in the world.
quite frankly, maxim was an odd choice. A galling gun would have fit the alternative American West much better.
I don’t think a music reference is ever going to be a coincidence when either Andy or Luke is involved. Broccoli wasn’t common in our US at the time, either. But it’s an alternate reality, so obviously there was a lot of Italian immigration decades earlier than in our reality, and maybe Maxim guns were invented by our inventor’s Dad.
I had this thought the other day, but what if their employer is actually the leader of the gang they've been going after? Not sure why, and I'm not sure how likely it is, just a thought that refuses to leave me.
I believe that has become a popular theory. My personal opinion is, the rings gave her some power. So her gang betrayed her and stole them. Now being powerless she hired others to take them out and return the rings. I still have no clue what her end game is.
@@DANTE83100 Yeah, I'd be a little disappointed if Victoria does turn out to be a villain. I think she could still be part of the Red Hand Gang, but maybe she realized what the gang was working towards (whatever that may be) and decided to leave and start opposing them.
you know, of all the ways i thought someone might die i don't think eaten to death by someone your minor turned into a hungry monster was on my bingo card... and if it was i would seriously question who ever came up with that bingo card
amazing work from everyone both on screen and behind it with the audio effects in this episode.
I'm surprised that nobody has managed to reach you (or ostensibly even noticed) but the description says episode 8 where as the thumbnail is quite correct that this is episode 9.
3:56 nice job edi.
Five nights at Breadys.
Fantastic!
So while the four members of the Red Hand Gang are clearly related to the Four Horsemen, I realized that three of the four of them have also been supernatural. But I don't think the General had any kind of dramatic reveal or special death. If I remember correctly, they just shot him and took the ring. We uh.... We might have botched one kill.
he survived a shot through the neck, im pretty sure thats supernatural
I think the general might have also been a harrowed. But a very nerfed harrowed.
Fantastic guest character great job guys! Andy you need to be filming movies!!
When the bread entered the fray my first though was Bernd das Brot...
