Will MS in CS help in getting a data science job like Data Scientist or Applied scientist ? I am in a dilemma whether to go for masters as I do not have work experience in the field
Hi Ankit! Great question. I think MS in CS opens the door for you for both Software engineering jobs and data science jobs (even product management jobs!). If you are more interested in DS roles (like it was in my case at the time), try to incorporate machine learning/deep learning type of classes in your master’s to learn DS skills. Then you can get an internship in the field and convert it to full time. If you don’t like the DS role in your internship you can always switch to look for a software engineer job!
