What is kinda funny is the flip Mummies were kinda Ghostricks before Ghostricks, So it is more then fitting that Ghostrick Mummy exists.
The prophecy
The whole thing with Spirit of the Pharaoh is that it's used by a one-off villain in GX who thinks he's so good at dueling.
But then Judai realized that the clunky sarcophagus cards, the underwhelming stats of the boss monster, and the weak normal monsters seem to not be threatening at all. Turns out the villain only won his duels in the past because his opponents made him win to make him feel good about himself. So Judai has to beat him so he can taste defeat and strive to improve himself.
And while that's a pretty nice concept for an anime episode, it was so weird that the OCG/TCG actually printed those cards with no change in effects. The DM and GX eras were kinda weird for printing anime-accurate cards that are kinda garbage instead of cards that would make people actually spend money for packs.
Oh yeah, it works real well in that context, but at the cost of a cool design being hard to summon 😭
Those cards came out before the anime episode they were used in.
I remember playing Wandering Mummy in my Exxod deck. Good times.

The Vrains anime had a Dark Mummy archetype but it never got printed.
Yugioh Vrains had the Dark Mummy Archetype. Their play style was just Virus.Deck. What's weird is that they debute in the anime around the same time as Lair of Darkness SDR was being revealed, and yet we still didn't get them.
It would be cool to get a Mummy Archetype base around the Egyptian God Osiris and Anubis. With the high level monsters being references to past Pharaohs and boss monsters being the Ruler of the Underworld Osiris and Guide of the dead Anubis.

For as underwhelming as these mummy cards were, their were probably the reason why Book of life, Book of Moon, and Book of Taiyou were created. Think about it, all 3 books share the egyptian aesthetic with how they are covered in ancient hieroglyphics, and all of their effects support the playstyle of the "flip mummy" series. Plus, they were all released in the same set.
Another card that was probably meant to support the flip mummies is Fushioh Richie. One of the best boss monsters printed in the DM era, held back into unplayability by his ridiculously impossible summoning condition.
Oh yeah dang, why did I not see that as the connection. That’s actually really sick. Honestly if they make more Flip Mummies, I could totally see one of them being able to search for the books.
I like the idea that the Book cards are connected to the Mummies! Makes me really wanna make a Mummy deck, lol.

I do cpu vs cpu tournaments on my channel based on the anime and in vrains there is a girl who uses mummy and viruses. since i need a deck for her i combined many of these cards.
Yeah, I have yet to watch Vrains, but I saw the anime exclusive Mummies. Think that would be cool to see developed also.
