Late bump: I’m literally about to do the same swap, same cab. Probably go with the the H75 just because. I was preparing to solder but didn’t realize Orange has the prewired connectors! Better crack it open to be sure, but this will be a breeze if so. Thanks for sharing! FYI, if you like the Greenbacks, you should check out the 70th Anniversary speaker. I have one in a Zilla 1x12 and it’s become my favorite all around, even for metal. I’m definitely going to have two in the top of a 4x12 w/ V30s in the bottom, but I’d also love to try one with a Greenback in a 2x12. I think the 70th is up your alley.
Hi! Great video, thanks! Can I also just remove one of the speakers and leave the cable as it is to turn it into an 8 ohm cab with one speaker and make it a bit less heavy to carry around?
I have a Bogner 212c cab with Chinese v30's. I think the Chinese sound very dark compared to the UK version they make for Mesa Boogie. I bought 1 UK version to replace 1 of the Chinese to see how that sounded. They had them soldered in and their solder was very hard to get out! I solder regularly, pickups, switches etc and haven't seen anything like it.
There is a difference in the speakers I have found as well comparing where they are made... and some solder is very hard to remove!
So in the vid it sounded like the creamback cut a lot of the shrillness of the v30? How does it sound in the room?
Yes, the Creamback gave the V30 a much smoother sound overall. It sounds great in the room. I just picked up a Creamback H75 to compare as well.... that will be 'to come'.
thejay I use the H75 paired with a Celestion greenback heritage H30 with the 55hz bass cone in my 2x12 jubilee cabinet. It sounds incredible
When did you get the ES goldtop?
couple weeks ago, it's pretty awesome!
Dude. Tune your guitar 😂
