Johnny Powers was a young villain in those days but unless I'm mistaken, years later when promoter Pedro Martinez' son Ron took over that promotion, Powers dyed his hair black and Ron used him as his main hero. Powers feuded bitterly with Dick 'Bulldog' brower. Ron's promotion was not a success & Ron quit the business as a promoter & became a wrestling historian collecting every bit of memorabilia from wrestling that he could find & donating it to a pro-wrestling museum & it is a fabulous collection. Ron passed away several years back
This is truly a classic match. A young heel Johnny Powers who clearly shows the influence of Johnny Valentine in his work. Ilio was an underrated wrestler who could have been an even bigger star if he had worked in places farther from Buffalo (I understand he had his restaurant to run). It was odd to see longtime heel Johnny Barend working with the popular DiPaolo.
@@dav.thehoodwink7236 Powers won the third and deciding fall. I don't remember how he won it, maybe from some underhanded trick. Powers was getting a huge push at the time, and DiPaolo putting him over helped Powers rise in the wrestling world. It wasn't long after that Powers was getting title shots against Bruno. I imagine that since it was Ilio's restaurant releasing the tape, it didn't want to show him losing.
I remember Chuck Healey and WBEN fondly it was on Channel 4 in Elmira back 60 years ago. Chuck did everything weather, bowling, sports and wrestling. .
RIP MY FRIEND YOU BRING BACK OLD CHILDHOOD MEMMORYS IN CLEVELAND OHIO!!!!!
At the height of the NWF in Cleveland, Ohio -- Powers was the top baby face, head booker, trainer and company co-owner.
Awesome 👍😎👍 thank you happy holidays 🎉
パワーズはしょっぱいんだけれど好きなレスラーです。邪悪なムードを纏ったところが何とも魅力的です。新日黎明期を支えてくれたことにも感謝。
You need to show us the final fall!!!
Is the restaurant's still open in 2024?
Priceless video!!!
does anyone know what year this was by any chance?
No.

What year please?
I'm guessing around 1965.
Who won the match and how???
Tell me why I got jump scared on 1:20 when Johnny jump him
まだ、死神の異名を取る前のパワーズのファイト、初めて観ました。東京プロレスに、バレンタインと共に来日した時の頃のファイトかな?

Why blonds had to be so hated, I will never know. Jack Donavan was a bleach blonde. Ronnie Etchison wore him out at Waterloo, IA
Lotta Work
Terry funk
金髪のジョニー・パワーズ知らなかった。赤毛のアフロヘアーしか知らなかった。
