The idea of adding a D link to a pair of pants of skirt - or anything! Is awesome. Thanks for sharing your wins as well as the challenging ones. It all is useful. I stumbled across your channel today and have subscribed. I will check out your website, I like to support indie designers.🇨🇦
13:22 this made me laugh out loud 😂 I think the dental theme worked in the end tho, very cute the jacket 15:01 looks so good, you totally nailed it edit: 19:19 ok i'm sensing a pattern here with the toothbrushes 😂😂😂
Haha yes I have knitted a lot of toothbrushes into my art so it’s not totally off-base for me. The molar and the paste is new. I also was one of those ppl that wanted a molar tooth tattoo but I’m too cheap for tattoos lol
Hi Ann, I just started subscribing to your channel. What got me started was you making underwear. My mom used to make our underwear when we were kids and it reminded me of that so much. My projects this year were "Go Anywhere" tote bags, quilts, large and small, and I even go so far as to make bowl cozies. I like these types of projects because I use leftover upholstery fabric from an interior design studio that would have otherwise thrown it in the trash. So they save the landfills from textile trash and provide useful and one of a kind items. I like deconstructing anything and repurpose it into unique loved items. Maybe that's why I really liked the unique t-shirts you remade. You have such great ideas!
So fun! Thanks for sharing your makes! We have a non-profit creative reuse center here where I love to find fabrics. Makes me feel really good when I can use reclaimed. The purple moto jacket was made from fabrics from there!
My biggest failure 2023 was not to sew at all, because I gained weight and didn‘t wanted to face it. But now you really inspired me and I will return to needle and thread. And I love that red ombre shirt.
Yes I totally feel you. This was the first year I started not fitting into my previous years handmade pants. I’m planning a video for a lil hack I’m going to do as a workaround. We’ll see how it goes!
Yes, definitely get back into sewing. We are so shamed for not being skinny that sometimes we don’t allow ourselves to invest any time and energy on our bodies till we “get to the ideal weight”! And it’s easy to waste too many years waiting for the perfect body to happen. I hope you make some lovely garments that give you pleasure and dignity while you just live life, as it is, not how you wish it would be! Bless you and happy sewing ❤
Hi Ann! Your point of view is so refreshing in the land of sewing UA-cam channels. Thank you for everything you've put out this year. Everything you make is so inspiring. I am particularly interested in your ideas for taking an ultra feminine design and bringing it closer to neutral. Make it black is my go to, but I also love color! I've got Magic Pants in my queue for 2024 and I look forward to seeing what's next for you!🥳
Funny, inspiring and educational! I really want to sew more this next year. Channels like yours help with the motivation I need. Subscribed and looking forward to more...now to catch up on the past vids.
Just happened on your channel. Great round up of makes. Love those shoes. Can you tell me what height you draft for in your patterns? Lots of makes this year for me - halfway through making sandals so that is my most challenging.
Fun! What kind of sandals are you making? Are you working from a kit? Would love to hear how you like it. In regards to height in my patterns, my first pattern is pants, and I was limited in height due to paper size but I talk you thru how to adjust. I’m 5’9” so I favor the taller side
Thank you for this inspiring and educational video! Love your content. I also have one of Lærke Baggers knitting books and I think it is so inspiring! Happy holidays from Sweden!
I'm exactly where you are in sewing. I've yet to purchase a pattern that I could "make-up" and wear. So I can not profess to actually "making" any one pattern. I have made several garments this year. My most loved and often worn was a pair of bib overalls sort of, I made from a cotton. I remade it in a knit, a corduroy, a lacra fabric as well. I changed that pattern so much that it's nowhere near what it started out. I've made several pullover shirts (I'm a female welder by trade), so mostly cotton fabrics. I made 3 sun dresses and 6 pairs of PJs for my mom and myself. I did make them but should express attempted 7 pairs of boxers for one of my five sons. He loves them. That's what counts. I tried to make a bra that ended up too small that my mom now owns and loves. I crochet, so I've made a long sweater for my Mom. It's more like a long shall (?sp). I made 12 scarves and hats for my grandchildren. Oh, and I made a baby bag, I can't think of the real name for those right now, from Sherpa. I love your content, I found you when you were making the T-shirt. Those shoes, though!! Very creative!
Aw sounds like a fun year of makes! It’s def hard when making for others if they like it or not. I’ve had to be more open minded about accepting if they’re not happy with it and working to fix it or move on, just like we do for ourselves. It’s all a fun journey!
Thanks for making this video, Ann! I’m so impressed with your shoes and I love the velvet jacket. The Endless Summer shirt is so cool and I can’t wait until it’s released. It makes me feel better about my sewing that you have fails too. Pants are hard!
Glad to hear it! Fails at least mean you’re trying something new right?? I said “intimidated” so many times in this video, I think a lot of them got cut but I get intimidated by trying new things in sewing so step one is just get over that and try!
I too have a wadded up pair of 3/4 finished Meriam Trousers in time out! Present me is mystified about why past me thought they would fit without a muslin. All those fiddly details to do before you can try them on.... At least version 1.0 is too big. My plan is to make the view without the fancy waistband in another fabric, then see if I can make the first pair work by taking off the front pockets and taking in the sides. Just...not yet.
Haha happy to know I’m not alone. Yes, I did the welt pockets with SILK lining and everything… lol. I was thinking maybe I could make them into shorts or something eventually. Just… not yet 😂
UR SHOES ARE SO FREAKING COOL 😎 Discovered ur channel an hr ago and I'm alrdy hooked 3 videos in 😁 I've just started sewing again with some thrift flips Very inspired atm Going to try making my own undies next year 😊 thnx for such a great informative vid
I know, I should’ve given them a bigger shoutout! They’re called The Bronzed Chorus. They are on Spotify. Their latest album is on Bandcamp “Aki”. It’s great!
I like the edgy choice of fabric, patterns and colour. The feminine girly styles are not my personality either…love it on others though. Thanks for the creative ideas.
