Excellent quick explanation. Coming from a drawing and painting background I was struggling with the pen tool, but understood it to be the proper way to vectorize. After watching this and other videos on the topic, I think I'm finally feeling mentally freed up to use the brush or pencil tool in a more intuitive way to tackle intricate drawings.
