I think the biggest thing I loved about DQB1 was the growing and leveling of your town. I recall wanting more of that in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with its family system, so DQB1 was fantastic in this sense. I've yet to delve into the sequel beyond the demo, which I found to be mostly a slog compared to the balance of the first game. Anyway, the editing of this video is impressive, as well as the retrospective details!
What up Bill! Always a pleasure to hear from you. You're Crystal Chronicles video is how I initially found your channel if I recall. The demo portion of DQB2 is terrible and there is about another hour after that that still feels like the tutorial, but let me tell you once you get over that hump it opens up and starts to play just as well as the original. I should have said that in the video! Also thank you for the kind words on the video, means a lot coming from a fellow creator! Talk to you again soon.
I absolutely loved the first DQB. I love the story and how building "rooms" worked. they actually had a functional purpose, and could be decorated far beyond what Minecraft allowed. Playing DQB2, it took a game I adored, and blew it far beyond my expectations. There's thousands of hours hidden in this amazing sequel, and that's due to the better controls and accessibility, how much more interesting the landscape has become, and the hundreds of different blocks and decorations. I hope they continue to improve upon this game. It's one of the best ones I've played.
Thanks for watching Little Moth! I totally agree both games are very hard to put down after you get the hang of how the gameplay works. it's great to have the structure of a Dragon Quest game in objections while still having the freedom to reach those building objectives whatever way the player imagines and deviate from the path as often as the player wants. Very addicting!

Yeah, to be honest minecraft is only fun when playing it with others or in a server for me. I can't stand the single player mode too long because I don't feel motivated. Builders is epic because it's Dragon Quest but epic (I mean a different epic)
Maybe try some Shaders and resource packs if you want the beautiful look Microsoft puts into the Minecraft trailers then you'll need the bare bones texture packs and bsl shaders but you'll need a powerful pc to use shaders and get 60fps but maybe you can use builder's quality of life shaders, yeah it looks not as good as bsl but it's still really beautiful to play.
Yep, shader is the best way to improve graphic, but what i like about dqb is the purpose, they give a lot of quest to do, rather than finding out by yourself or go to google or something
Dragon quest builders 2 is what turned me into a dragon quest fan, so it did exactly what it was supposed to do, because of builders 2 I got the edrick trilogy for switch along with 11. Please make builders 3.
Dragon Quest was the start of my love for RPGs and story telling. MC is how I discovered i'm not only great at level design, but enjoy it more than anything. DQB and then even more so DQB2 were dreams come true for me. DQB2 is almost my perfect game. Almost.
Thanks for watching and commenting Jezze! I love hearing stories about how people were introduced to the Dragon Quest series and what it means to them. Hope to see you back again!
Dqb2 is on game pass and I've been absolutely addicted. I liked the concept of minecraft but I hated being just set loose in a giant world with no story or objective. Starting from a dilapidated ruin to a sprawling village on each island is super engaging and really gives me that sense of growth and accomplishment. The combat is basic but still fun with gear and weapon progression. I wish that jumping could dodge since as far as I've seen, it's the only animation cancel for a sword swing but still fun. My only complaint is that quite a few quest steps are very easily broken and I've had to reload several times to give the game another chance to count a quest step because they're sometimes vague considering the situation. All in all, for being on gamepass, I've gotten incredible value out of it. Great video bro

Now I'm not even finished with the storyline in 2 and already ordered DQB1 to have even more fun. This video deserves more views for a thorough discussion!! I started and only played DQB2 and I am absolutely having a blast! I might try DQB1 but for now I'll try the demo:) If there's a third game, I wish an improvement in combat like ability to use shield, and a bit if spells would be cool as well! I know nothing about DQ, but I play the Builders games repeatedly. DQB2 greatly improved the mechanical efficiency and materials/npc interactivity options, but the dialog is excessive. I’m looking forward to DQB3 in a few months!
I’ve since this week picked up DQ1 and started playing it from the beginning. I’ve had it before DQ2 came out but found it difficult to get past the first stage defeating the last battle but bought DQ2 when it came out and completed it
To be honest, Zelda Builders would work better than Final Fantasy! Zelda as per se is basically already there in Dragon Quest Builders combat, and the story of any Zelda being different on each game released wouldn't make it a problem for a new release, for me would be amazing.
Ive always compared DQB to a fusion of Zelda and Animal Crossing than minecraft Especially with DQB2. At it's core it's minecraft DQ edition but when you actually play the games gameplay feels more Zelda like and building feels more Animal Crossing like. Especially with how crafting now is in Animal Crossing and works basically the same as DQB crafting.
Thanks for watching and commenting DarkLord1061! I played through DQB1 and the first 25% of DQB2 for this video, but haven't gone back to continue DQB2 yet...Although I've been thinking about it now that it's been a year and a half and I'm not so burnt out on it anymore!
Honestly I think you may struggle getting into the first game since it doesn’t have a lot of QOL updates the second game has (though it may not affect your enjoyment of the game ) While I did enjoy the original when 2 came out it pretty much told me it’s not worth ever going back to the original
Hey Vic! Thanks for watching and for the friendly and humorous comment! I think you missed the most obscure reference of them all though with Cubivore HAHA. Hope to see you back again soon!
QUALITY OF LIFE - that’s the name of the game. It’s the first game that I’ve seen that let’s you farm and level up without grinding. I never played minecraft, I was heavily pushed away by Its graphics aesthetics, but DQB2 single handed took minecraft, one of the biggest games of the history, and demoted It from a game to actually being a game mechanic and added RPG, quests, cute graphics, nice combat and QUALITY OF LIFE so you can focus on having fun building, crafting, decorating or exploring. I loved It! It also gives a slap on every other casual farming and RPG game that actually makes the player WORK and grind (I see you, POKEMON), games that are extremely easy and just makes the player brainlessly spend time to artificially enlarge the game. For more games focused on gaming experience!
Thank you Diversity and Comics Bear! I appreciate the kind words and for watching and subscribing! I hope to get some Dragon Quest 3 videos out later this year.
IN DQ builders you are not a hero, You are a Builder. Is even a key part of the plot, the goddess will always tell you that you are not a hero, the reason why you can t level up.
I respect what Minecraft did for gaming, but I just can't get into it,and its not because of "Lol cringy ten years old play this game therefore it's terrible",it's because of the lack of any real structure. I have played some dragon quest games and enjoyed the ones I played, but I didn't think I would enjoy a Minecraft styled dragon quest game, but after watching Nintendocaprisuns playthrough of Builders 1 I wanted to try one she builders game so I Dragon Quest Builders 2,and I have so much fun with this game. The RPG mechanics and having real objectives is what makes game so enjoyable for me. I might also pick up Builders 1 eventually and do all playthrough of that, but I hear Builders 2 makes going back to the first game really hard.
Thanks for watching Ghost27 and you make some good points! I would agree that going back to Builders 1 after 2 would be difficult just because of some quality of life improvements they made with 2, but if you're not burnt out after 2 and want some more then I think you would enjoy it. It can be found for pretty cheap too so not much to lose. Hope you'll consider subscribing and take care!

Hey Corina! Thanks for watching. Nothing official has been announced yet about DQB3 and I haven't heard much in the way of rumors yet either. Square Enix has a lot going on with DQ12, remakes of 1 - 3, their mobile games, and a couple new spin offs, so I think it'll be a little while before anything happens with a DQB3 unfortunately.
I'd say the addition of tools in, at least, DQB2, makes it a somewhat superior game to Minecraft *at least* in regards to how it lets you expand your building arsenal. You have to mod in this shit in Minecraft and with how frequently the game updates those mods are usually broken by the time you're ready to play again. That being said, I don't think it's better than Minecraft overall, at least in that Minecraft is far less limiting on PC, but its world is definitely more appealing, its story content is a fun addition, and it does a very good job of being an alternative to Minecraft by adding in tons of tools and the concept of NPCs which Minecraft took forever to do and, honestly, didn't do well (villagers in Minecraft are not only hideous and confusingly different from players, but they're annoying beyond belief and I'd rather wipe them all out and use a mod to create my own NPCs, which I have, than put up with them). I expected a moderately entertaining clone with little to do in 2, but I ended up really enjoying it. I've played easily over 40+ hours with my Xbox Game Pass trial and I intend to buy the game for myself so I can keep building on my Buildertopia island. The one complaint I would have about it is that since the game looks and feels better in third-person, and since the camera is not very good (acceptable but a bit irritating sometimes), building houses with roofs that actually look good is... a wasted effort, because function beats form every time. That being said, Dragon Quest's original style had no roofs because it was a simple top-down RPG, so it kind of fits with the style to only build up three, four, maybe five bricks high and leave it at that. I sometimes use roof pieces around the edges to simulate that a roof is there, but I never cover it up because it isn't worth it. Plus it's a pain in the ass to put on roofs anyways. The controls are good, but it's a chore to build upwards with a few blocks just to place a roof from a specific spot. I don't know why it feels better in Minecraft to do that, but it just does. I wish I could play the first game on PC with the second game's gameplay improvements, but it's not available, so... alas, I will just watch someone else do it for me online.
Sandbox not popular in japan? Are you serious. Minecraft are crazy popular! Even before dqb, minecraft is veryyyy popular in Japan especially among kids.
Hey Key! I guess the measure of its popularity is to the eye of the beholder. The information about sandbox popularity in Japan is derived from interview quotes of people involved with DQB's creation from reputable sources. I hope you otherwise enjoyed the video though!
@@KreativeGames hmmmm good question. I supose you couldn't go wrong with the og to compare it too. Or well ig only the original dragon quest could be compared with zelda. What do you think?
@@DEDMANOFFICIAL I think as far as combat goes comparing it to the original Legend of Zelda is spot on. Or any of the top-down Zelda games really. The building part though is Minecraft through and through. Who would have thought such an odd combination would work so well!
I wish the game was harder.. its way too easy its like 50% easier than DBQ1 Where are the rings? the boots? They talk so much.. The monsters attacking your village are a joke. The bosses are a joke. In DQB1 , chapter 4 was the best.
I'm sorry, but I don't get where you're coming from in comparing the graphics to Minecraft. Aside from using blocks, the two look nothing alike. In Minecraft, everything's all pixel-y, but DQB goes for a more cartoon-y look with bold, complex textures.

At it's core it's minecraft DQ edition but when you actually play the games gameplay feels more Zelda like and building feels more Animal Crossing like. Especially with how crafting now is in Animal Crossing and works basically the same as DQB crafting.
I truly enjoyed the DQB games much more than Minecraft!
You speak for the both of us, Peach :)
I've only played dqb2, but I'm eager to go back to the first game. I loved dqb2 and it been about a year since I played so i'm ready for more.
Thanks for watching and commenting DarkLord1061! I played through DQB1 and the first 25% of DQB2 for this video, but haven't gone back to continue DQB2 yet...Although I've been thinking about it now that it's been a year and a half and I'm not so burnt out on it anymore!
Honestly I think you may struggle getting into the first game since it doesn’t have a lot of QOL updates the second game has (though it may not affect your enjoyment of the game )
While I did enjoy the original when 2 came out it pretty much told me it’s not worth ever going back to the original

Whoa man, somebody knows old school!
Video: (mentions Act Raiser)
Okay, now you're just showing off.
Hey Vic! Thanks for watching and for the friendly and humorous comment! I think you missed the most obscure reference of them all though with Cubivore HAHA. Hope to see you back again soon!
@@KreativeGames Yes, I had already posted the comment when I noticed you went even further old school than that later.
I was thinking about playing one of them, seems like it’s 2 for me. I rather have the qol features + more focus on the rpg/adventure
Great review!
Builders 2 is on xbox and PC game pass as well. It's a great game!
This is a good channel.
That's a good point! In the end though...spoiler alert...
Except while they say that again in dqb2, you DO get to lv up
I thought it was because of what happened to the builder before the goddess, "chose" him/her...
@@KreativeGames Thanks I did subscribe.I did decide to pick up one and im enjoying it so far it feels better paced then the first game.
Love the shirt, great movie
I just want my truck back...
I can’t stand Minecraft visuals but i downloaded the demo of DQB1 (an inmense demo) and i loved it. This saga is the Minecraft for people like me.
Great video!
"I found myself having retread areas I'd already traversed several times."
Honestly, that's on you. You could have made a simple sky-bridge so you wouldn't have to much through the water, but did you? Noooo.
LOL you could have made your own video with your opinions even though it's easier to troll strangers online, but did you? Noooo.
I dont know why they always say the combat is boring when the game itself says that the character is not the hero.
Spoiler alert: In the end it turns out the main character IS the new hero.
@@mark7393 I know but he is a builder so his specialty is building
bro did not speak about dqb2 until 17 minuted later
just to point out that to get the builders1 rewards on pc you just need a console whit the first game on the same wifi
Good call out MagicZ. How well do they play on PC?
@@KreativeGamesthe flying buggy buggy control are awful but apart from the flying buggy runs locked 60 fps whole time ran into no issues other than when i skipped parts on accident and confused the game
honestly they are both really good games but the problem is that it is too expensive
So which to buy
Ty.
You are not the "hero" you are the "builder".
DQ Builders 2 is a masterpiece.
i dont know why but even on high graphics on pc dqb2 looks pretty bad compared to dqb1 i dont know if its just me but it feels like dqb1 has more effects going on than dqb2 and also has better graphics than dqb2, i dont know why.
its possible that its the ambient lighting and the good lighting that dqb2 is missing what makes it look worse
1 was missing too many prospective gains in growth. 2 was waisting a hope for reinstating the switches stationary implications just to get blown out because its screenshots causes a "Glide" Glitch that ruins your controllers.
are they making dragon quest builders 3 ? seen utube video of someone say they maybe thinking of it bxc utuber
9:30 is that a meme or something? or is that just a custom transition for the channel?
Hey Apex! haha that's a custom transition, recorded when my girl and I were visiting Fargo, where they have a Mario wall!
A respuest what Happen to the demo of DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 1
Still waiting on that dragon quest builders 3 announcement 😭😭
It doesn't look fuck all like minecraft. I cannot play minecraft because it makes my eyes bleed. I love Dragon quest builders, it is cute!
Is £6 new worthy? The first one on PlayStation 4 ?
Is there no roofs I'm confused 😐😕🤔
Sandbox not popular in japan? Are you serious. Minecraft are crazy popular! Even before dqb, minecraft is veryyyy popular in Japan especially among kids.
Hey Key! I guess the measure of its popularity is to the eye of the beholder. The information about sandbox popularity in Japan is derived from interview quotes of people involved with DQB's creation from reputable sources. I hope you otherwise enjoyed the video though!
Why does 1 cost way more than 2 if part 2 is better ?
The chapter-based gameplay is exactly why I've never played it.
I just tell people its a mix of minecraft and zelda. They usually go for it
Not a bad description. Which Zelda would you compare it most to, if asked?
@@KreativeGames hmmmm good question. I supose you couldn't go wrong with the og to compare it too. Or well ig only the original dragon quest could be compared with zelda. What do you think?
@@DEDMANOFFICIAL I think as far as combat goes comparing it to the original Legend of Zelda is spot on. Or any of the top-down Zelda games really. The building part though is Minecraft through and through. Who would have thought such an odd combination would work so well!
Go Sharks!
Good catch! Hopefully they can turn the season around.
I wish the game was harder.. its way too easy its like 50% easier than DBQ1
Where are the rings?
I believe I was referring to the style where most elements are made up of equally-sized blocks, but I agree the art rendering is very different. Thanks for watching and hope you'll check out my other content Morgil27!
Why is gameplay footage covered up by needless photos i wanna see whats going on, k thanks anyway bye
Hi Stormy In Space and thanks for watching. I use images to show that certain content is a quote and who it is from, for game notes, comic relief, and to generally support the voice over with visuals. That is the style of my retrospectives and reviews. If you don't like it there are many let's plays available you can watch, you can also play it yourself, or make your own content. Take care!
builders 1 is a better
Eye of the beholder, chav0machine. Although I lean towards 1 as well :)
@@KreativeGamesTwo weeks later and I would say DQB2 is on par with 1 just due to the enormity from island size to available items.
@@veg0machine dqb2 story feels to stretched in the first part which gets really tedious.

My guy, why are you pronouncing it “mo-jank-uh”
Hmm hard to recall since the video is about a year and a half old now, but for Japanese words and companies I usually try to look up the correct Japanese pronunciations rather than going with the English pronunciations. Good chance I still butchered it, but all we can do is try! Thanks a million for watching Bobonator2!

Lmao minecraft and dqb look nothing alike other than they have cubes in them
I hate Minecraft
I'd rather just play Portal Knights.
Sandbox games are too hard for Japanese gamers. How ironic.
That's not what was said, nor is it true.
@@duncanedgin9433 They basically said the Japanese market needed a story in order for their customers to focus on the game.

Good choice :)
