- Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that belongs to dihydropyridine category. This drug contains amino group and chlorine group in the structure from which name can be derived. It blocks voltage gated L-type calcium channels at both cardiac and vascular smooth muscle with more pronounced effect on the later.

In my experience, using alcohol after Norvasc leads to angina (but not so much Norvasc after alcohol). That was 23 years ago. In sobriety, I was diagnosed with Conn's and had adrenal removed, then Hypomania II.e. began depressive symptoms. Using calcium channel blocker with mood stabilizer keeps hypomania under control. Without it, Lamotrigine was not enough. Studies show that low dose lithium and verapamil work well together. High dose too (had it, it worked - verapamil also worked in prep for adrenalectomy to control mood). Norvasc with Lamotrigine work as well.

Cilnidipine is the replacement for Amlodipine which was the replacement for nifedipine....
Important to know that before you take medications for high blood pressure, to get a test for sleep apnea. 30% of people with high blodpressure suffers from a disease, that can be cured without medication. Most people with the disease dont know and dont belive they have apnea. but thier family can easily discover the serious condition, by watching them in the sleep. If the breath stops for a minute or two 10-20 times an hour, its easy to tell the truth to the unaware patient, and seek medical help a.s.a.p.
Can you please reply and elaborate on this? I was just diagnosed with high blood pressure, and it's extreme at the moment, like 185 over 110. I also know that I snore very probably, and will be woken up by others throughout the night because of that. Do you mean that if I resolve the sleep apnea that it might be the origin of my hbp?
