This song is about your inner "spillways". You keep everything inside, anger, disappointment, sadness and envy. Keep building up the pressure inside of you until one day it's too much and it all comes out through your spillways. A spillway is really a way to control the water level in big dams so it doesn't burst but Tobias makes it to a human perspective. The song seems upbeat and happy but if you read the lyrics it's really really dark.
Thanks for the info on this! Yeah, it was definitely different hearing the happy sounding rock song with those lyrics, we were both into it! - kloquewerk
Job 10:1 My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul
VERY DEEP!
The band is Tobias Forge on lead vocals... and that's it. The "band" on the album is hired musicians. Tobias writers everything, essentially. There is a touring band but they don't play on the album. Though, they did feature in the video. Their names are technically out there but part of the band's thing is they are just nameless ghouls.
Sort of...there were 6 different co-writers on this album, some of whom co-wrote previous albums and eps...you can find them all online
The intro on the piano is similar to ABBA:s song ” Money money money” from the 70-80ts
I always thought the piano was similar to the pokemon theme. Someone even made a mashup of the two songs which worked surprisingly well!
I just died in your arms tonight is the piano
Appreciate it
Bon Jovi's Runaway too
The piano sound like the Pokémon intro for some reason
Ghost was formed back in 2006 and their first album was released in 2010. This song is from their 5th album, Impera, which came out this March. The thing about Ghost is that each album goes for a different sound (though you can always tell it's still Ghost). This album specifically was inspired by 70s and 80s rock. As for recommendations, you really can't go wrong. There are the some of their most popular songs like Square Hammer or Cirice (both from the 3rd album). From their first album, I'd go with Ritual. That one is always great. If you want something more dramatic, go with Year Zero from their 2nd album. From the 4th album, Rats and Dance Macabre are fun to listen to. Or you can keep listening to Impera's songs like Hunter's Moon or Griftwood if you vibe with that more. I can make more suggestions, but I think that's enough for now.
Ghost's always catchy! Love them from the first note of all of their song 🤟👻
Lol just saying, they weren’t taking about addiction. The words in the beginning you misheard were ‘benediction’ and ‘malediction.’
I really enjoyed this reaction! Ghost is a very good band :)
Ice Nine Kills - Farewell II Flesh
Bon Jovi Runaway is quite similar on the piano
Runaway by Bon Jovi.
ABBA, Alice Cooper, Arcade Fire, Bon Jovi etc etc etc. They all used it.
Ok I knew I wasn’t tripping lol….. Rob 🔒
I’ve heard of all of them expect Arcade fire…. Rob 🔒
Ghost recorded this in ABBA's studio (they are both from Sweden). They used the same piano as ABBA used for their '76 hit "Money, Money, Money", so that's the inspiration, but others (Bon Jovi, Toto, Foreigner) have had the good sense to "borrow" from ABBA as well.
I knew I heard Foreigner after Rob mentioned hearing the piano before - kloquewerk
You freaking guys are annoying 😡. Stop pausing songs every two seconds moran 😡
You watch reaction videos and complain about people voicing their opinions? You could just be listening to the album without interruption.
