First Impressions: Tier One Concealed Axis Elite - Light Bearing

- In this week's video we go through an overview, and Trevor's first impressions, of the light bearing version of the Axis Elite appendix holster from Tier One Concealed. Appendix rigs like the Axis Elite are favorites of our's here at Range Day and should also make a great choice when adding a light to your EDC Loadout. This particular holster is designed for a Gen5 G19 + Inforce Wild2 WML and offers a fantastic combination of utility, comfort and concealment.

You just answered my question. THANK YOU!!! 3:33
Happy to help!
great video man. addressed a lot of my concerns and a good close up was beneficial to see how the extended mag option fits a regular mag
Happy to help! Thanks for watching.
i just ordered one for my sig p365XL with manual safety no light
I’m sure you’ll be pleased with it!
What's your thoughts? Carry round chambered with no safety? With safety? Or not chambered?
Always chambered when you carry. I don’t have a problem carrying without a safety on something like a Glock, standard 5lb trigger. If you have a single action trigger setup that gets pretty light, maybe a safety isn’t the worst idea.
Does adding slide cuts slash serrations change the way the glock would keep the retention?
Not in my experience, unless you really starts shaving a lot off the slide the retention should be unaffected.
Good review! Can't wait for mine, still have 3 weeks about for my glock 19 gen 5.
Hope you enjoy it man!
Can you use the gen 2-4 holster light bearing with a gen 5 Glock 19?
There are some slight geometry differences between the older models and the Gen 5. You’ll find that most manufactures split their holsters at that generation also. I would recommend getting a Gen 5 specific holster.
awesome cant wait for mine to come
They are well worth the wait!
I have a light bearing tier 1 holster for my Glock 19 and xmacro. For some reason there isn’t an audible click when holstering it for both guns. Tier 1 states on their website that light bearing holsters won’t have an audible click due to something with the light. However when you holstered yours I heard a click. Did you modify that
Hasn’t been modified at all. Maybe your retention is a tad loose?
Also got the T1 Axis Elite (light compatible model) for:
-Glock 19 Gen 5 (w/ night sights)
-TLR 7-A light
-Standard 15 round mag
I’m a male, 5’7” & 145Lbs, athletic build, and have zero issues concealing this and it rocks, comfortable as it can be for such a gun! Tried the wedge myself but it was adding a noticeable bulk on the bottom portion of the holster so it looked awkward, so I’m carrying w/o the wedge.
All down to personal preference! And that’s probably a good call to go without the wedge haha 🤣
@R.Castillo I’m 5’7” also. Are you running the clips at the middle position that it came in or did you raise or lower the clips?
Just what I needed to hear, I'm 5'10" & 145 and was looking at options
@@charliestoybox2099 hey im currently running them on the setting it came with! I use a leather belt that’s about an inch or so in width with the belt clip moved to the side to avoid further bulk in front. Let me know if that helps :)
@@TheEverydayEnthusiast nicee! I was hoping my descrip. would help anyone else wondering! I don’t see you having issues with it. Let me know if you have any specific questions on it!
Good video. I just got mine yesterday and it took 4 weeks and 1 day. I was about to give up on side car holsters but when I got mine I was amazed by the quality. Feels great and conceals my G45 Mos beautiful with a good t- shirt. I'm happy with my purchase😄
Happy to hear! Thanks for watching.
@@RangeDay yes man, I've heard nothing but great things about tier 1 so I decided to take the plunge. The G45 is my shit and want to carry that over my 43x mos. I spent so much damn money on that thing from upgrades to four different holsters🤦🏿♂️
What extensions do you have on your mag? is it a capacity increase extension? or just a grip extension on the magazine?
I have the Taran Tactical +5 mag extension. It’s designed for capacity, added bonus of extra gripping surface on the whole mag.
@@RangeDay Thanks!
Hey what iron sights are you using ?
Trijicon Bright and Tough Suppressor Height Night Sights
bought one for $90 is that a good deal ?
Lol yes. Where'd you find that at?
For sure if it’s in good shape. They’re usually closer to the $125-$150 mark.
Does a threaded barrel made a difference in the fit of the holster?
No sir, the bottom is open to any threaded barrels shouldn’t interfere with fitment at all. Compensators may or may not fit if they are larger than the muzzle
Hows your experience with the Wild2, mine sucked bad and still need to send it back.
It’s been pretty good so far with exception to some battery concerns! We will have to wait and see how it holds up!
What kind of grip tape is that?
Talon Grips PRO
Great review. I still have about 2.5 weeks of waiting on mine.
Thanks littlerascal59! Hopefully yours gets there quickly!
So after a good bit of time carrying these types of holsters I only have one question for you. Light bearing, or not light bearing when it comes to comfort/light trade off?
I actually don’t mind the light after having more time with it. The wedge is definitely a must with a light if you ask me. I probably wouldn’t go any larger than the setup you see here though for EDC. Something like a TLR-7a would probably be the sweet spot if you don’t like the full sized lights though.
Good video, one question though.
Given your particular light, how do you feel about the trigger guard coverage? Not sure if you have any pictures of video of that elsewhere on the channel
Thanks for the question! I have no concerns with the trigger guard coverage whatsoever with the T1C holsters, including the light bearing model. I believe this is the only video we have up that shows this setup in detail at the moment, but stay tuned to the channel for a full review on this holster as I get more time with it!
Just got my agis for vp9 and x300, it doesn't completely cover the trigger I dont like it
What is the pros or cons of the snaps vs the shock cord? (Axis vs Aegis) about to pull the trigger on one. Thanks
A clear pro of the Snaps on the Aegis is that the mag becomes removable if you wanted to leave it or perhaps carry on your strong side. The flexibility is the main advantage there, while the shock cord on the axis is not as modular.
I would figure that the axis’ flexibility with the shock cord is more advantageous over the snaps and also less bulky as well!
Thanks!
Only disadvantage or heck maybe even considered an advantage is when running with the agis buttons the top button can come unsnapped when bending over. Could become more comfortable with a button unsnapped but that’s a personal preference
Have you noticed if having the extra inches with the longer light that your draw times are longer or its more uncomfortable when wearing?
Haven’t really noticed an effect on drawing at all. You definitely notice the extension that comes with the light, but adding the wedge makes it much more comfortable.
How long was the wait to receive your holster?
It was just over a month before this one came in!
Are they 1.5 or 1.75 inch clips?
They are 1.75” EZ Adjust clips!
When I go on their site and fill out the features for the holster I dont see the feature for the light bearing (enforce wild) need help lol!
So after you select your holster, and you select your hand dominance and choice of firearm, it will bring up an additional drop down menu that has the weapon lights on it!
Let us know if that helps! 😎
@@RangeDay ok will do!
@@paintballenforcer1151 idk if you found it or not but they may not have light bearing options for all formats
What grip are you using on the pistol?
Thanks for the comment Rick! The grips you see on this particular setup are the PRO granulate material from Talon Grips. They are the most aggressive/abrasive material but they offer a great mix of extra grip while still maintaining some comfort for conceal carry.
So while appendix carrying it doesn't grip on to your shirt or scratch your skin. It looks aggressive just trying to get an idea before I order
Light bearing holster has the gun muzzle open, so it’s technically a threaded barrel also
That’s true! I believe if you select the threaded barrel option online it simply extends the kydex slightly to cover the extension piece also.
@@RangeDay cool thanks for info
Thanks for the video. On a side note, what brand (assuming AmeriGlo) and model iron sights are you using? I have the same setup, just trying to figure out which sight height to use for co-witnessing.
Hi Roby, thanks for the question! Trevor is using Trijicon Bright and Tough Suppressor Height Night Sights as the back up irons shown in this video. They work well with the Holosun optics!
Tier 1 is great and also trex sidecar
Absolutely. Both of those appendix style holsters are the best on the market. Great holsters.
Looks like with the open end on it you could run a 17 or a 34 in it as well with no compromises am I right? If so is there an option you need to choose when ordering to ensure you get that open end because I see some of these holsters where it's closed off unless that's an old model
That sounds about right! I believe these come open on the muzzle end by default so you don’t have to select a specific option. Selecting a holster for a G17/34 will simply extend the kydex to cover the muzzle. Accordingly, the G19 sized holster will accept a G17/34 without issue, the muzzle just sticks out. Can only confirm this for the axis elite model.
Be careful though, it can get warm down there…
Light bearing models won't fit different sized pistols properly. My 34 will fit in my 19x holster, but it won't retain being that the frame is different, so the trigger guard location is different. Really depends on the light model tho
For t1c threaded barrel option gives you the open ended holster
What's the name of the red extended mag?
It’s a Taran Tactical Mag Extension! Great product.
Do all the t1c holsters that can hold a light only hold retention if you have the light on the gun? Thinking about getting the tlr-6 option for my 43x
Yes! All T1C holsters and all appendix holsters that are light compatible grip the light instead of the trigger guard. It’s still good retention!
@@RangeDay Tenicor SAGAX LUX2 holds retention even without the light attached.
Awesome video dude, I actually just sent a video to T1C with the issue I’m having about the seriously tight retention. Really curious as to what they say.
Let us know what they say because we are interested too. They may need to give you longer screws.
@@RangeDay they are sending me a new holster. Even when I took my light off the gun still stuck in the holster lol no way I’d be able to comfortably draw god forbid you ever had to
It sounds like the slide widths were off. Glad they’re taking care of you. Hopefully the next one will be perfect.
4:45 WHAT ON EARTH, oh my bad. My dude is just left eye dominant. 👍👍
It’s definitely weird at first, but not too bad once you make a few adjustments!
Why would you get such a huge light that extends so far beyond the end of your barrel for your EDC gun, when you can get a great light like the Viridian C5L light or C5L light & green laser that fit flush with the end of your barrel and doesn’t add any length to your firearm?
There are a few reasons like preventing your firearm from going out of battery if pressed or eliminating any shadowing from the muzzle, but really it just came down to preference!
Cause those lights suck and are ass! and because America, and freedom of choice.. if you don’t like his light, keep your comment to yourself and you’d be better off instead of hating.. these bug lights (tlr 1, sure fire x300, & inforce ) have a great price vs light lumen that’s worth it, vs those ugly little bulky box lights that have a laser in it... nobody needs a laser. LEARN TO AIM
@@JUNIORGONG.ASFxCK the new Inforce wild 2 sucks as well. Received mine about 4 months ago, didnt even run it on my gun, let it sit for about 2 wks, starting playing with it and the damn thing had drained the batteries. Replaced them and again, 2-3 wks later, batteries were drained. I prefer the APL and no brainer the X300B.
@@JUNIORGONG.ASFxCK calm down girl
I hate the non retention that tier 1 has wish they would get that right im rocking the llod associate .
We will have to check out some LLOD holsters! They have some good offerings from a quick web search 😎
as far as the wedges, waste of money. buy the gel shoe inserts, cut them to fit the back of the holster and glue them on. feels so much better
There are a ton of different options that can work for the wedges and the wider footprint of a gel insole could definitely add some comfort. I’m a fan of the wedges due to the clean look and ofcourse they’re pretty friendly on your wallet.
what option did you choose for the wild2 as its not in their drop down choices? im waiting for a wild1 and I wonder if the aplc choice would be ok
Hi Paul! The WILD2 looks to be available as an option for the Axis Elite built for a Gen 5 G19 on the Tier 1 website. What weapon platform are you looking to get a holster for? It is possible that Tier 1 doesn’t have the Wild 2 available for all weapon systems just yet, and it may be only available for Glocks.
Ordered mine may 3 and is june 7 and still nothing just email them today and they told me between June 15-22 that wait sucks.
We totally agree with you Izzy, lead times are killer these days. The 30-35 business day lead time was pretty spot on for when I ordered my holster. Hang in there for just a few more weeks!
Can you use the gen 2-4 holster light bearing with a gen 5 Glock 19?
Thanks for watching, see your other comment!
