My New AP Royal Oak 15202 - Blue Dial 39mm Jumbo Audemars!!

- On this video I am going to be reviewing my new AP 15202 Royal Oak Jumbo.

When I do a review and I say it’s my watch, understand that I already put the money up for it so you know you are getting a genuine review. I just picked up this AP 39mm Royal Oak Jumbo, let me tell you that this is not a watch I was searching for and I never even thought that I would buy one. There is not many around and it never really got my attention. Audemars just recently released a new version of this watch and it is very similar to this one, but this is the older one and thats what got my attention. This watch just screams Genta from the 70’s. It is one of the few Audemars Piguet that has the Gerald Genta vintage essence of the original Royal Oak design. This one has the blue dial and I am not sure that I would have bought it if it was not for this blue dial. One important thigh about this watch for me is that this model is the closest thing to the Patek Phillipe 5711 Nautilus. In my opinion it is the direct competitor. To those of you at home that do not know the difference between the AP 15300 and the AP 15202 is that the 15202 is an ultra thin. That make the watch proportions look very different to me. Not that the 15300 looks bad, but the ultra thin version just has a better look to it. The 15300 looks to me looks just like a smaller AP 15400.
This watch comes with a 2121 calibre movement which is different than the standard 3120 calibre. When you see it through the casebook it is a beauty. One of the only thing that bothers me on this model os the clasp. AP opted to use there traditional brand logo clasp and I find it to sit a bit sideways on the wrist. I would have preferred the deployant clasp from the 15300.
I feel that this model has a completely different look than the standard AP 15400 41mm. This is more of a dressier elegant watch were the 41mm is a bit more sporty. This is what maybe has me attracted to it so much, combined with the blue dial and the fact that they are rare. I intend on giving it plenty of wrist time and hope that someone does not give me a ridiculous offer, because I will then have to sell it lol. When it comes to blue dials on these Audemars Piguet they seem to be more on the darker side. In direct sunlight they are blue but at other lights they appear black. Maybe they were just reluctant to go with a bold blue like other brands. Prices for these watches are in the low to mid $40’s and I hope they will rise up a bit more. I plan to keep it and hope to share it back again with you In the near future.

15300st is probably the best steel AP ever made….i would take the 15300 over 15202 any day….15300 is only 1mm thicker but have a screw down crown, quick set date, seconds hand and a much more robust in-house movement also used in older offshores…15202 don’t have any of that and is so much more fragile👍

I’ve been into collecting for about 10 years now and it’s crazy how certain watches have just fluctuated in price and taken a 180 on demand... I remember seeing these sell for under 20k and now to see them price at around 35k-40k is just bonkers

Congratulations on a great purchase, I had the 15300ST and really enjoyed it but the movement in the 15202, albeit more fragile, is visually still the best IMHO. Enjoy 😊

Actually quite an Un Eric watch but as he goes through it it's banging. Dial is 50/50 , not sure if i like it. Maybe a tad brighter....

In my oppinion the most important steel watch ever! The PP Nautilus reminders me always of a TV from the 50s and has an "old man image", but the AP 15202 is elegant, technical and despite the age still a very cool design. There are some variations of the blue dials in the 15202 over the years, but you picked the nicest variant!

I love the watch but hate that many of them are only 50m water resist only. That doesn't seem right for a stainless steel sports model.
OMG, I just picked up my new 15202 last Saturday from my AD. But my AP logo is at 6 o’clock as it’s the 2020 version. I love the watch 😍

Apparently the earlier models had AP logo at 12 but the more modern version they moved it back to 6. I am sure they were called 15300 but still 39mm slim. However the new version is the nearest DNA to the original of the 1972. I may be wrong and Eric and correct me.

15400 is way too big for "normal" sized wrists. 41mm VC overseas fits well, but AP 15400 goes beyond my wrist!
We do not see the blue color but great video as usual by the goat of youtube watches.

I got the white Chrono version about two years ago While I was there in brickle Miami. Love the watch but the bezel picks up scratches like a mug
You can take it back to an AP boutique and they will ship it back to AP in Clearwater to have it re-finished so that it looks completely new. Bear in mind that this can only be done a limited number of times (I think 5 times) throughout the life of the watch, then the bezel has to be replaced. Most people prefer to allow the signs of wear to show. It's not so bad when you know that you could make it look new again whenever you want.

I own Royal Oak 15400 ST with Antracite ( grey) dial and I love all in it ... 41 mm/ second hand / shiny bracelet...

Congrats on the new addition to your amazing collection! Is this your only AP? Can't remember. AP is nice, and different, no question but still love Rolex more. The AP seems much more dressier whereas with Rolex, depending on the model, more versatile and durable.

I am hoping to add a 15500 to my collection with a Silver dial. I tried one on the other day, at the same time as a couple of RO rose gold models and chrono, plus some PP's. The watch I can't stop thinking about, is the 15500. The bracelet is on a another level. Such a timeless classic!

Hi dear, I got AP royal oak 15400 with blue dial and its bit too big on my wrist. My wrist size is 6.75inch. AP royal oak bracelet is really thick nd hard one and even haven't micro adjustment with it.
Shall I go for 39mm ulta slim or 37mm AP royal....

One downside, as you can see , these AP's are scratch magnets. Which is ok for normal people, but I am on the Asbegers spectrum and scratches drive me nuts. I also really dislike over polished watches. So this watch would cost me a fortune in Lazer welding then polishing.

@@WatchEric Agreed. It is impossible to not get scratches on any watch. I own loads , so less chance of scratching them. Aha. To be clear , I much prefer your watch than one that has been polished. It is just the way my brain works when it comes to scratches.
