- Gukesh faced S.L. Narayanan in round 3 of the FIDE World Cup 2023. Game 1 ended in a draw and this is the 2nd encounter. Gukesh playing with the white pieces opens with 1.e4 and S.L. Narayanan went for the Open Ruy Lopez. The game was extremely complex and had some very instructive elements in it. IM Sagar Shah tries to explain to you as you go over the game video.

If i could wish freely, i would ask for a moment of pause before answering your own question at @6:45, giving those who want to attempt to find it themselves a chance of reacting, and pausing the video. 1. Guks wins, Wesley draws or loses, Anish wins
2. Guks draws, Wesleys loses, Anish draws or wins
The reason we skipped to no.7 is because the more likely scenario would be Guks win one and draw one in Round 4 while Anish and Wesley will draw both games, then Guks frog jumps two players at the same time to 7th place.

Very good commentary... might as well make it as lecture as well.... how i watch these videos now is... I will take my chess board and play along with them..... I pause the video and try to find their next move.... If i am wrong i will listen to your commentary and try to find out why i was wrong and correct myself... for people like me who can't yet afford personal coaching, videos like these are truly a blessing and it has lots more potential to become even more informative and instructional.

This "writing down the moves" thingy is so stupid as we are in 2023 and there are cameras and smart boards everywhere.
There are not, in lesser tournaments. First, it's a nice tradition. Second, the rules of the game should be the same everywhere, not just in big tournaments.

Putting an Indian vs Indian until Round 5 seems a little bit baised. Same countrymen shouldn't play each other in initial stages of the Tournament until Round 5. After all Chess maybe an individual game but it still has Teams based on Country/Federation.
