- This roller mat is aimed at smaller tanks unto say 250L and the great thing is you do not have to adapt your sump. I have been using this roller mat for just over 8 weeks so watch this before you buy
There are a number of roller mat filters on the market and until now they have been aimed at a bigger tank like the reefmat 500, unless of course you want to adapt your sump by cutting away some baffles. This saves that time and hassle of having to do this.
This product definitely helps with nutrient management and also reduces the amount of maintenance you will have to do when it replaces filter socks. It has a big thumbs up from me so watch this before you buy.

Thanks for the review much more helpful from someone that hasn't been given the product.
Thanks for watching Martin. I know what you mean as even if you try and be 100% objective it is sometimes not possible.
I try and be unbiased and try and use a product for a bit before I post a review as not a fan of unboxings
Very handy answered all my questions as I fitting mine next week.
Thanks for watching and chuffed you found it useful 👌🏻🙌🏻💯
great video Paul, it looks like such an easier product to use than the clarisea I used to run :) plus that app looks great too
Thanks for watching Tom. I now have both and clarisea has always been fine for me. Early days but I think the reefmat edges it due to the functionality and alerts from app. Might change my view as only had for 9 weeks
Great video Paul you sold it to me 👍
Thanks for watching Tony. Glad I could help 🤣🤣
Nice review, considering a filter roller on my dd1200 but it’s the removing baffles and pipe cutting is putting me off 😅
Not sure you would need to remove baffles for reefmat as it can sit on a stand but you would need to cut the downpipe. Would you go for 250 or 500 as 250 would definitely fit in but I don’t know dimensions of the 500
@@fishpalace Thanks Paul, I’ll take a look.
Nice one 🙌🏻
These reef mats by Red Sea are a brilliant piece of equipment. But the question is, how does it affect pH? Great video 🙌👍
Thanks Jay. Shame the nano reefmat won’t fit in out max nano’s 😡 where’s farmer Tom when you need him 👀
Nice review, how do you think it compares to the clarisea in terms of filtration capability? Asking as im struggling to keep my nitrates below 20ppm and my clarisea rolls last 4 months despite massively upping the flow through it abd dropping the height in the water to promote burning through the rolls faster, I cant help but thinking my main problem is the length of time the dirty roll is sitting in the water and not being able to control the advance too.
Any thoughts?
It is hard to compare as I have them in different tanks that are 170L and 280L with varied bioload too. From a reliability point of view I am finding the Red Sea to be more reliable as I have had to reset the clarisea whereas the Red Sea has just worked
Didn’t know it was this easy to add to a Red Sea 250. Nice
On the nutrient being stripped out, can’t you remove the skimmer and just have the mat run? Saved up some space for a refugium!
I added to a Red Sea reefer 170 but will
Nicely into a 250 and was relatively easy. I could run the skimmer for less time but I use a Co2 scrubber so don’t really want to switch off so that PH reduces. Will just reduce flow if nutrients drop
@@fishpalace my bad, I meant 170 as I have a 170 too and not 250. Great work though.
I need to look into co2 scrubbers. Never bothered about PH and just do weekly water changes but sounds like a good idea. Will research
@@rudra7615 🤣🤣. Co2 scrubber is so simple and I have found very effective 🙌🏻
Do you have a preference , Clarisea or Reefmat?
That is a really tough question as I have had a clarisea for about 5 years and reefmat for 9 weeks. Both work really well and I would recommend both but I think connectivity to app so that you know what is going on gives it an edge. I have not changed a roll yet so we’ll see how easy that is
From what I have read the redsea filter mat has larger pores thus the ability to not filter out to micro-fauna? I have a Clarisea, I have had it about 18 months now I am only on my second roll. I do like the way to change rolls with the Redsea though. @@fishpalace
Or read anything about larger pores but not to say that is not true. The water is certainly looking clearer and with less particles so doing it’s job. Thanks for watching 👌🏻👍🏻🙌🏻
