These wackadoodle’s have worked as a mortar team before … I was a gunner in Vietnam 1967-68 1st Cavalry… Dropped hundreds of 81mm rounds on the NVA and Vietcong… Yeah women can preform this firing easily … However I wouldn’t want any women on my squad … When it comes to humping this 81mm it’s not for the weak kneaded … I carried 60-80#’s on my back each and everyday out in the field … Then if your the RTO you pack another 25+ pounds … + another 5# spare battery. And I usually packed the 81mm mortar sight so the others in our squad packed the tripod 37#’s The barrel weighted 28#’s +-, the baseplate was in two sections 28#’s … Each 81mm round weighed 9# each… I weighed 155#’s soaking wet … when I came home my caliphs were the size of grapefruit… A Vietnam jungle is no place for a women … once I went 4 months without a shower… Not to say I didn’t jump in a river or stream … butt naked … with other while someone pulled watch duty. Did I mention … you wear no underwear in jungle conditions … you’ll get a case of jungle rot in your crotch… of coarse I suppose you could make exceptions for the women … fly them back to the rear let them bathe and get a good meal … am I being too facetious… damn the average age was what 19 … You’ve got two things on your mind food and the opposite sex … well not getting killed comes in third.

what is that vest that the soldiers wear? and are there also any female soldier allowed in that activity?
Just standard issued armor nothing fancy. And yes Females are allowed in our job.
