Hello Tod, i have a 1984 FLHTC Electraglide with an Evoblock but it has a chain drive. It seems Harley sold the FLH in four types Shovel with chain and belt and Evo with chain and belt. Had to replace the block and put an S&S 96 in it. Great ride.
I assume yours is rubber mounted? yes? Rubber mount anything in 84 were EVO. Solid mount motors in 84 were Shovel. I've never seen a factory rear belt 84 EVO. 85 they were all rear belt in the big twins.
Hey Todd, sold my Yamaha (3rd bike) this year and looking to buy my first Harley. My only goal is to have one from 1984 as it’s my birth year and thought it would be cool. Any advice on things to look for or watch out for? Common fixes or upgrades that need to be made depending on model etc? Any feedback is appreciated. Love the videos by the way!
Do you happen to know the intricacies/variants of the 1984 FLHS Electra Glide Sport? I just bought one that's a 4spd with belt drive. 1 of the last 250 made for public in black. Apparently original. So hard to get definitive information on this model. 👍🇦🇺 Richo
@@HuntingHarleys no such thing as an 85 shovelhead. 85 was an evo. I have the complete history of Harley in books. 85, 86 , 87 are know as the bulletproof years for Harley. All of them are evo's. I have an 87 myself.
@@johndoe-hv3qj You are incorrect, shovel production was concurrant with EVO's for 1984, and HD made 300 FLHP shovels (P for Police) in 1985. The year of the model is in the VIN number on the frame, VIN numbers do NOT lie. There are a lot of 1984 shovels on the channel. Here is the one 1985 I have managed to find and purchase. ua-cam.com/video/xUe8fFhmMXs/v-deo.html
@@johndoe-hv3qjwrong you are looking at a 84 and if you listen how he starts out he said 84 was the last year sold to the public because in 85 there were 290 FLHP shovelheads with 4 speeds were sold to the police . And the 85 FLHP is the only Shovelhead that came with a wet clutch from the factory . They are the last true Harleys ever made they’ve only made Honda Davidson’s since then .
+Len Torchia the Shovelhead 4 speed FLH, FLHS models all had rear belt starting in 1982. The FLT models did not have a rear belt until 1985. The 1984 FLT was EVO, 1980 to 1983 the FLT had a Shovelhead motor.
what a good old bike. Love the sound on those. we just bought ours back. we are super excited about that
Gotta love dem shovels.
These are my favourite Harleys.

That sounds perfect!! And don't give a fuck about the sensitive neighbor who hates awesome bikes HAHAHA
Did only the flht model come with a five speed?
The FLH (which this is, essentially) is NOT an FLHT, which takes a rubber mount frame and a 5 speed, introduced in 1980.
This exhaust have a baffle??
I have the exact bike here. And I need it restored. Who do I call.
All the Shovelhead guys I knew have retired. I can't help
Hmmm, I believe that 83 was the last year of the shovelhead
Got it, so that explains the 1984 and 85 Shovels, your belief.
