3 of my grandparents are from Ukraine my grandfather's have Russian last names, they always made it very clear that they or our family is Ukraine. In ww2 my grandfather on my fathers side was forced into the Russian navy and was told that you go down with the ship. His ship went down but he decided that the wasn't going to go with it he spent 6 months in a Siberia work camp, he said it was worth it and was glad the ship went down. I believe that Russia has not changed and I am sure that if my grandfather was here today he would say that Russia is still in ww2 they should have swam.
When am I going to learn not to drink tea while watching Starsky??? Almost drowned myself!
