People might be forgetting what Ukrainian towns looked like before the war started. I remember being shocked by the clean, well-maintained, western-looking neighborhoods being destroyed in the modern world. We can become numb to anything, sadly; but it's tough to become accustomed to seeing neighborhoods that look like our own being razed by weapons of industrialized warfare.
Seeing this attack on Odessa renews the shock.

Every update I hope you're covering putins trial in the Hauge. ... one day!
When the F-16's arrive in quantity they will be a game changes for Ukraine for the following reasons:
1. The can track and destroy the drones and cruise missiles launched by Russia
2. They have longer range AA missiles that can reach the Russian bombers launching the glide bombs which will force the Russian's to pull those planes back out of range
3. They can carry Harpoon anti-ship missiles which means they can attack the Russian ships still operating out of the two Crimean ports
4. They can do ground attack and precision ground strike missions which probably explains the Ukrainians current strikes on Russian AA defense installations to open up holes in the Russia AA network that the F-16's and drones can slip through
5. They can also carry anti-Radar missiles that target AA missile installations and I can see those being used also against Russian AA missile sites
To disable S-300 and S-400 batteries, you don't need to destroy the launch tubes, destroying the radar installation and command truck will render the whole battery unusable

There's another reason for there being more casualties. I have seen some other reports that have said that Russia are currently doing a massive push before the next batch of US military aid arrives.
They also want a symbolic victory before their bullshit holiday on May 9th
I was going to post something similar
A mix of Russia trying to push and take as much territory as possible before Ukraine starts receiving aid again and aid being delivered with haste
The U.S. had aid waiting in Poland to be delivered as soon as Biden signed the bill
People need to remember that the U.S. isn't ordering new shells and what not for Ukraine
We are giving them our old stuff and ordering new to replenish our stockpiles
I.E. 80% of the money is staying in the U.S. and we are getting rid of old equipment that is nearing or at its expiration date
Ukraine is just making good use of equipment we would otherwise have to pay to have dismantled and disposed of safely
