@@corey6393 Definitely! When I saw this in the magazine, I thought those logo's were stickers. They are handpainted!!! That is a true artist that replicated those!
I love the straight cut gear sound too...but I think after 2 blocks, I'd be over it. LOL

My June of '58 bus is the oldest farthest North splitty in the world. Drive her year-round down to -10F. Buses are great!
I’ve driven a barn door and it’s a totally different experience to driving a regular split bus. Awesome bus , bravo!

how do you know? these are just taillights, not brakelights or blinkers. brakelight is in the middle.
@@uliwehner True - I don't know if they serve as brake lights or not. I made the assumption but I could very well be wrong. If I am, then I learned something new today with these really old buses. I knew about the brake light in the middle but assumed the rear taillights also served as brake lights, but again, I could be wrong. I'm always open to learning about the really old ones like this, so if you're correct then, my apologies. I just love these old buses & love to learn about them. I have a bay window but will someday own a split! Have a great day!

That is gorgeous! I have a 1960 double door panel bus l purchased in Albuquerque from its original owner. He ran a television repair shop in town way back when. This bus is very original, having its original engine and transmission (numbers matching). It even still sits on the same set of tubed Continental tires it left the factory on! Being a southwest vehicle, it has no rust on it at all, and was running when l parked it in a metal pole barn in 1998. I might just have to bring her back out after seeing this story!

Great job on the car. I really enjoyed all the details .. Too bad that ( due to new standards ) the paintjob became too “ fat” it’s should have been a bit more rough and matte.
Friends came to tasmania with a 50-51 model crammed with possessions from Germany, it didn't last that long , it was cut up vw wasn't imported till 54 in Australia

August of 1950, wouldn't that be a 1951? I have a 1968 which has an August 1967 manufacture date.
VW started the Year model (aug-july period) from 1955 model.

Early Bus didn't have a rear bumper.
I would try to fabricate one, just for protection.

Radium was part of the whole free energy trip they had stoves that were called radium stoves and somehow they were like a self perpetuating free energy out of The Ether something that we've hardly fallen from and now we got to pay the power companies what an effing joke
Amazingly this Radium light bulb company in Germany still in business.
