    That is a GEM. The Holy Grail. That is how every K Custom ride should sound. You'll be able to do so much with that gorgeous beast. Congratulations! Really happy for you!

      Thanks man yes imagine how the K Custom line line would have sounded with the bell and some added wash to the ride, phenomenal cymbal this is I am amazing I was able to find one.

    Great Ride. I like the 20 better for rock and loud music. It seems plenty loud and the pitch of the ping and bell seem to really cut. I want a 22 and from the sounds of yours it seems more mellow. Lower pitch and more wash. Maybe better for more styles. Out of the 20 rides I have I still like the 20 K custom I bought new in the mid 90's. It still one of my favorites.

      This 22" model and the Sucherman Sessions Ride are two of my most favourite and cherished cymbals as of today. The K Custom 20" was and is a nostalgia trip for me at the moment but I am looking forward to a funk gig where I can use that amazing bell to keep the vocalist awake.

    That 22” sounds like bliss and to me has that amazing balance of wash, ping and a killer bell.

      I can see this as a gig ride although as rare as it is I would be a little worried about it.

    i dont get how people like these, they are so thick and chunky i just cant take it. it sounds like a z custom almost.

      It was a big fad back in the 90's but not so much now. The 22" though I wish they still produced.

      @DAPondrums 7 місяців тому

      Context is everything. They are thick and chunky, but in the right application you’re left with a sweetness and excellent articulation that peaks through the mix. It’s a shame there aren’t more varieties of heavier ride cymbals.

    Good Day Sir. I just purchased one of these through reverb. It has two small rivet holes drilled without the rivets installed. Do you have any thoughts if the two small holes would be a negative effect on the overall sound, or do you think the holes might be too small to really be noticeable in the overall tone and sound....Many thanks for your time and feedback.

    • @IAMDRUMMER
      @IAMDRUMMER  4 місяці тому

      I don’t think it will make much of a difference sonically, I’ve heard cymbals with 20 rivet holes in them and they sound great.

    ive never been much a fan of these, but its amazing to me how much more i like the 22 compared to the 20.
    I have a K Custom Left Side Ride in 22, which they also dont make anymore, only making the 20 - i guess its similar to this in that the 22 is so much nicer than the one they still make.

    • @IAMDRUMMER
      @IAMDRUMMER  7 місяців тому

      The 20 does feel like a slab of metal compared to the 22 as it feels so buttery. Sounds like your 22 and this have that nice "buttery" feeling and does make it more enjoyable to play.

    If I can find a 22'' to sound with my other K's. I would try that....THAT is a nice 22. Ralph Onofrio

    This K Custom vs the original Sabian HH Sessions Ride vs the current production model Sessions Ride!

      The only difference between the limited run and production model of the Sucherman ride is they aren’t numbered and a slightly different label. I can do the K Custom and the Sucherman.

    Nice! I have this same cymbal. Bought it brand new when I was 13. I saw Dennis Chambers was playing one and thought that might get me closer to his sound and ability. Neither were correct! Enjoy!

      I bought a maple custom kit to sound just like Weckl, still amazed it didn't work but still hopeful. So many drummers we loved an idolised played the 22" model and then they discontinued it, a bit sad really.

      I did take some breaks here and there but it was more of a struggle with coordination so to speak. Keeping the timing and groove smooth but it was very touch and go, it was fun though an I am looking forward to some more kit time.

    Anyone know how these non lathed cymbals are given a taper? Is material BUFFED off? I own a Zildjian 20” K Custom Ride and the bottom has seperate bands on the bottom while the top is more consistent in appearance.

      Is the machine hammering marks underneath and not as presented on the top side?

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 7 місяців тому

      Ahhhh got ya, the machine hammering is really pronounced on the top side of the 22 but the 20 has more visible machine tooling marks on the underside.
