We haven't been able to get out metal detecting as often as we'd like to recently! But when we can, we jump at the chance. As the colder weather approaches, hopefully we can manage to get out some more. We had a great day out none-the-less! Thanks for watching and all of your support, hope you enjoy the vid and all the best! Cheers, Ant & Glenn
Great adventure none the less, you don't always need gold to have a sucessful day out. The hut sounds great, but a stone chimney would be a fitting tribute, I look forward to see how it turns out. Cheers Pete
Hi Ant and Glenn, always nice to see both of you out and having fun. Enjoying the longer videos still. Take it easy and have a great week, Natalie🙋🏻♀🌺🥂
Well Done On The Relics Fellas 🎉Very Nice Silver Ant 🐜. The Hut’s A Great Idea! As A Kid I Had A Little Secret Spot I Regularly Visited out Bush ! Enjoyed The Serenity! Thimble, Coin , Gold Ring and A Pipe Stalk. That’s a Great Day 👍👍👍
That’s Ant and Glenn, just what the doctor ordered one of you fun entertaining videos. Rite now I couldn’t think of anything better than to be sitting by myself in a hut in the bush by myself to get my head back together. I would normally be out having another ten days hunting for some gold about now but my wife was involved in a bad car accident and suffered a fractured neck ankle and sternum she spent a month in hospital and I have been looking after her for the past month at home. She has only just started to put some weight on her leg so still a fair way to go yet.
Thanks for another great Victorian gold hunters video. You have been teaching me how to search for gold, so I'll report back about my latest find. Recently I dug into virgin stream wash, that looked likely and got a weeny metal signal. This signal was just above my detector back ground noise and it kept cutting in and out. Also the bed rock bottom had a clay layer with rock bottom poking out. I ripped into the bed rock with my detector pick and so worked, until I finally moved the signal. By hand, I transferred the signal over the detector coil. No mean feat either and a plastic scoop would never have managed to scoop this signal. The signal finally came from about a two centimeter blob mud glug that looked ridiculously like dirty clay. With nothing but an awesome signal to indicate metal and I began braking the blob into smaller blobs. Love clay, yuk. Anyway, the signal finally came from a dirty, one centimeter blob and I began scraping the muck off this. Then a coppery like bit of metal appeared under the sticky clay. I cleaned it a best as I could and the barest glimmer of gold appeared under the coppery surface. My detector gave of great metal signals and when I got the signal cleaned, a 0.6 gram nugget resulted. Though I've stretched a long story and a small piece of detected gold, the moral may make it worth reading on? This 0.6 grammer was jammed between virgin slate, which was covered with a black mineral. It was flat side up, covered with black material and jammed between slate layers, or between a join in the bed rock. The signal turned on and off, was small and not what I would have pursued in worked ground. When this metal was moved out of the bed rock, it sounded big and was easy to read. Being virgin ground, I was motivated. But ten minutes early I had detected and dug out a small, weird shaped lead slug. This appeared to come from the virgin wash, so I had my doubts about the next signal. However, what both of you have taught us detectorists, is to think, detect and reason about what signals we detect and I thank you taking the time to share your gold detecting adventures.
Lol love Glens stories. I thought he was going to say he got pulled over by the cops and charged for having a weapon 😂. Looking forward to seeing the hut, would be worth filming the build I'd love to watch that. Great vid cheers.
Great to see you both enjoying yourself ,but build would be a dream come true, love the serenity and isolation that it can bring with it,can’t wait to see it unfold 👍👍
Great video. Sure would run like the wind if I seen a snake 🐍 . Steve brought me snake gaiters and snake bite first aid kit for Christmas. Hopefully will never need the kit. Better luck next time on the gold guys Kaz & Stevo ⛏️⭐️✨🎧🦋⛏️🐍
Well done Glenn and Ant another great video, always amazed by Glenn knolage of the bush and the fun you both have out detecting. Can't wait to see the winter special. Cheers boy's.
Good to see you back out having a swing. As usual, another very informative history lesson on the local Gold, Huts and early Mining. Great show Glen and Anthony.
Good to see you both back. I think that the hut idea is great. Go for it. Talking about Peter Lalor. The family rumour is that my 4 x great grandfather John Dunlop was one of the people who smuggled him out of the Eureka Stockade and hid him on his farm at Geelong where the railway station is today. No idea if there is any truth to the story but it’s down in the Dunlop family history books!
Talking about Peter Lalor, I went to Peter Lalor Technical School in Robert St Lalor named after the great man 😂, the suburb not the school 😂😂, nice three pence Ant proud of you mate Zividale 👍
What a awesome idea the hut is. I remember growing up in maldon there was a couple of huts built up off the mount there. Im fairly sure atleast one was built bye someone escaping the law.
Glad to see you guys have another video out.Yeah I always look forward to it. Have to say I bought some of them.Chocolate covered plum That ant brought back from Poland for you for Poland for you. They are delicious delicious I'm on my fourth bag
great video. So Glen is going to live in an isolated bush hut? With it getting hotter each year Id recommend living coober pedy style. find a mineshaft on a slope, dig one wall out, put your wood over the top cover it with earth, 21 degrees all year.
Definitely build the hut Glen would be epic to see a real life hut built just for all the reasons you mentioned ill do the same 1 day when im getting on too and wanna contemplate life😅
Great video gents. Glenn is talking about digging for bottles. I have seen a few old books with instructions. Firstly, do you think there would be any pitts still around containing old bottles? And two, would you two ever consider filming a dig out if so? Keep up the great content fellas.
A good day out,and the Bush camp sounds like a great plan. Glenn has already built it in his mind, looking forward to seeing the results. Cheers fellas.
Thank you both, Glenn and Ant! Your guess was close, I am a bloke, and taller than six foot four, 199cm - is that 6' 6½"? Congratulations on the finds, the silver coin dates the Danish 1861 mine, if I were paying attention. The world really did come to Victoria, hey! I'm on the hunt for particularly any Croatians on the diggings, they'd be either among the Italians, Hungarians, even the French. How about any Polish diggers, Ant? We should read the Eureka Petition, so many different surnames, was yea so many feet long, maybe when the Eureka Stew took place, Chinese cabbage, Irish lamb, German sausage, etc. History is golden, and you can find gold where was found already. Use the clues given works, but like Lee Savage has shown, there's areas not mapped, not detected, up a steep range, well off-road. I'd need the pick to double as a walking staff, like a Worzel Gummage! Happy trails & big nuggets, specimen boulder or two to share, or 18ct and overloaded sovereign holders, two of. 👍👍
I ran into Doug stone the other week and he said the diggers would use a thimble to fill it with gold. A upside down thimble would hold about a ounce of gold.
At last, I was getting withdrawals, not seeing you two. I am glad that you are both well. Ant, why is it that you videoing Glenn's knees and elbows instead of him. Your filming is very close and puts me off slightly. How did the coin come up once it was clean? John and I have only just started the season again, with no luck yet but it's still early. Wishing the best to you both. ❤️
Sounds like a nice target there at the end ill guess 5+ grammer. Which do you like, I torn between getting a 7 or a 6. The 7 looks more stable and goes deeper, but the lightness of the 6 means i could get my 10yo bloke to swing for me while i pick duty .
Cheers buddy, hope so!! You are so right with those points on both machines. It really comes down to what machine would suit you better. Both are great. There's no bad choice when it comes to the 6 or 7 😁😁
Try and get a copy of heritagerat. History of Bucklands Valley. I know north east library have. Benalla or wangaratta. The things they find in the bush
Im with ant that black wattle didnt appeal to me ,i think the red bellied black snake would no doubt taste like chicken . No the shack sounds like folly to me lol you would find better digging elsewhere and have to relocate good work guys enjoyed your show 👍

Good video and great knowledge! I don't mean any disrespect but do you guys ever find any gold?
glenn is the best story teller. Never quite know if its bull or the truth but I love them... :) love what you guys do.
Great adventure none the less, you don't always need gold to have a sucessful day out. The hut sounds great, but a stone chimney would be a fitting tribute, I look forward to see how it turns out. Cheers Pete

The white ants are going to love that pine Glenn. Better soak it in sump oil.

Ring looks like a part of a jewelers loupe

The ring looks like a part of a jewelers loupe … iv found 2 … one still had the magnifying glass

I have plenty of corrugated iron if you’d like to “steal” some as you’re going past.
Thanks so much!! Really appreciate it 😁😁😁
At what point do you use iron separation?
