As a huge trance fan, I think trance is a VERY bad genre for a DJ mix video, where most people expect things like fast switching between tracks rather than smooth long blends & long-term energy build-up. Trance loses itself when fast-mixing skills are applied (especially for a classic-style trance like Ferry Corsten's). For a trance to be trance, it needs long build-up and transition to another must be done gradually. However, many ppl watching gets boring when a mix vid is done so. Actually, if the track list is pre-fixed, DJs him/herself get boring as well since there's really nothing to do during long verses and breaks. The video would be much interesting if he brought samples from his track (like STEM files) and make a live remix there. Since he is a huge producer, he could show us very interesting live remix.
Your wrong mate! Yes its trance! If you wanna here samples off stem maybe you should start listening to house! Trance tells a story and you dont rush that! Have some respect and let the man mix!
mehh...all that eq'ing, messing with the effects and decks was jerking in vain, showing the business and involvement in the mixing process. Do this tracks needs rough EQing on a dj mixer when play alone? I think no, they were designed in the studio... Or do they lack simple delay and reverb tricks? On the top he could stretch his hands and show us few finger hearts, but that would be a little out of context) That's all EDM music is now about. Window dressing.
Maybe because hes oldskool and back in the day when the music production wasnt as good as it cleary is now people would use the eqs to touch some of the track up and hes in that habit of doing so, I know I am, the way he has his Lo, Mid and Hi on the mixer set is exactly how I do it and I learned that from years back playing old trance vinyls.. Just a thought anyway.
Trance is so boring these days. Ferry killed it with Out of The Blue and the 1000 bees in a jar sound. When It's good It's amazing but 99% of it puts me to sleep.
Mark Anderson don't judge the trance scene on a fella that's been out of it for years. Ferry left the trance stuff years ago. Plenty of amazing djs and producers about. Neptune Project is one example.
afroorangeman he, along with a lot of trance producers went down the shit trouse sound and even the typical shite edm sound we associate ultra and all the other kind of big edm festivals main stages. Generic sounding crap
trouse is the old school sound you know that right? @Ironlion it never died just got better i can see what you mean though with the bigger edm bs crowds hype act/game youre talking about where alot of the big or underground big djs do is succumb to the crowd and end up playing bangers but thats not true. especially with actual trance or goa its not like that at all you make bangers but they arent the kind of ones like mainstream music where it gets annoying after a while. ferry brought back gouryella... thats as trance as it gets lol. sure tiesto went down the shitter along with armin W&W dash andrew trashel etc but that does NOT mean Ferry did. he is a true pioneer like Paul Van Dyk & Oakenfold that stay true to the roots and continue to do their melodies just with a fresher kick. you cant stay in past forever. things need to be brightened up and thats what they do. you either get with the mainstream program and sell out and do shit for money or you do dope projects and stay true to your shit and continue to grow like ferry does.

His adjustment of EQ Knob was so complicated that my opinion must be destroyed and reconstructed.Thank you,Ferry.
He's using it to compensate for his lack of gain use. Old Vinyl technique I think.

It's making me feel uncomfortable.
Yeah, like you can do the same, playing randomly some of your new tracks, without practice and shit.

Sounds great, looks rubbish. On the other hand, Laidback Luke's mixing looks great but the music is rubbish.
