What are the recent migration updates for state nominations? So far other than the Northern Territory and WA all the states are still open.
After the invitation round in March Victoria may close soon. Migration Tasmania has announced that they are only accepting registrations of interest that have been allocated to Gold Pass for the remainder of the 2023 to 2024 program.
This is because the demand for the 190 nomination exceeds the number of available places.
How many invitations are left for state nominated 190 and 491 visas?
In this chart you can see the allocations left for each state up to the 29th of February 2024.
For example, New South Wales has 996 190 visas left and 427 491s left. Queensland has 220 190 left and 284 491 visas left and SA has 261 190 and 451 491 visas left
As the invitations for state nominations are very limited this year and some of the other states may be closing soon.
You may want to consider other visa options such as employer sponsored, 482’s or partner visas or student visas, or the global talent visa. Having a Plan B is essential. Recently, we had many inquiries, especially about the 482 sponsored visa and partner visas. If you are planning to apply for one of these visas, please contact us.

Hi, I am an offshore candidate and submitted my EOIs 4 months ago. My occupation is project administrator with 75 points for 190 and 85 points for 491 visa. When can I expect an invitation to apply for visa? Please respond. thank you

Hi there. I am from South Africa with 189 and 190 submitted. Points are 80 and 85 for Accountant. I have a masters, superior english, all 10 years working experience approved.
Any idea how long the wait could be due to other professions taking priority.
I feel like i have spent money on skills assessment, english tests and immigration agents all for them just to tell me to wait and there is nothing else they can do.
My agents offer no other options. I can't seem to find employment, as they all require working rights which I cannot get unless i receive an invitation. This process is extremely painful.
If anyone can offer some assistance.. it will be highly appreciated.
Stop migrants period till settle down the country? This country is worse now, because of immigrants/ illegal immigrants? Better change the law? If anyone involved with criminal activities or protests, then cancel visa and send them back to their country? ( give them only temporary visas) even some of the haven’t got proper qualifications( fault) some of them didn’t go to university, working 24 / 7 and earn money , then pay the tutors to do their assignments? I don’t think online degrees aren’t success? 👿

Will there be a 189 invite before the financial year ends?
Hi David, Thanks for your question.
In the last two years there was an a 25 May 2023 and a 21 April 2022. So I would expect one more modest round this financial year before 30 June 2024.
If there is a round, I would expect a narrow focus on occuations, including Health and Teachers, but possibly extending to building and trades. The biggest driving force in policy in Australia seems to be the housing shortage, so trades would help with that.
But due to the housing shortage, I would expect then number of invitations to be very modest.
The DHA can change its behaviour from year to year, so there is also the possibility of no more rounds for this financial year, to 30 June 2024. With the housing shortage again being a possible reason if there was no further invites.
