This is my favorite sub-$100 USD bagged vacuum for medium pile carpet in my collection. At some Wal-Mart's in the USA, this model can be had for around $75 USD. I use Crucial branded HEPA bags in mine. Tests at 80 nozzle CFM. I hope you enjoy yours! 😎
I was put off Hoover vacuum cleaners since in about 2003 I bought an upright after an amazing advert claiming it was brilliant and good for stairs. It was terrible and failed on the first day with a faulty button. The warranty guy came out and told me Hoovers are no good any more. Then a Dyson which blew up after about 2 years. I've had a Miele vacuum cleaner now for about 9 years and it's the best ever! My Mum has the cat and dog version and it is very quiet, even on full power! I used to be a cleaner in hospitals and I remember using Nilfisk (heavy duty industrial type), Henry, Electrolux cylinders, some with power heads.... all pretty good.
There is a youtuber from the US called VacLab and he has done many very precise measurements and tests with the Hoover Tempo. It's extremely good for a budget vacuum.
Actually what could have happened (and happened with me and a Miele I got on eBay), is that the seller also uses Fulfilled by Amazon, so all their vacuum inventory is also sold on Amazon. They can tell Amazon to then ship it to wherever they want, and Amazon will pick it out and ship it abroad, even if it's not offered that way from Amazon.
One of the last good hoovers despite TTI cheaping it by getting rid of the headlight, the bag check initiator, and having a chinese motor instead of the original windtunnel motors on the older models. Despite all of that these are excellent machines.
Excellent vac for $100 USD. Best airflow for any vac in its economy class. I gave mine away to someone who needed a vac... I miss it. Your Maytag wind tunnel stretch hose will work with this vac.
I have a soft spot for this vacuum because a close friend and neighbor used to have one before he passed away in a car accident 11 years ago. A Semi truck tire hit him when he was coming back from Lake Erie in Ohio. If I can I will get one.
Since this has been discontinued I need to think about which machines to keep in mind for gift giving. I often gave these as apartment warming gifts to young people starting out in a new apartment or as engagement gifts.
I've owned my Hoover Tempo for Almost 8 years, I've loved it since I bought it back in 2012 from Walmart. It was really cheap at $70+, me and my wife Cindy who used it before she died use it a lot
Indeed an amazing carpet cleaner for the money. I got mine at Canada’s Future Shop for $120. They were first available at Best Buy in the USA for $100. Roger, you need to feed the cord/cable into the special slots on the back to anchor the first stretch of cord to the body so it comes out at the top. Top-rated for Excellent carpet cleaning in Consumer Reports. Ignore the attachments - it’s really inconvenient for above-the-floor cleaning.
Very educational video! You ought to do a video (if you haven’t already) about that step down box. I just did a video today about that same (older variation with light and “bag full” indicator) model. Unfortunately in my demo, I easily found out why it was thrown in the trash, despite the fact that it both “runs and drives”, meaning the motor works fine and the brush roll spins. But then mine was not brand new either.
This was one of the Best budget vacuums you could buy years ago. I have one and I like that it has a lot of suction, a wood brush roll for better agitation and self propels it’s self on the carpet, and it’s lightweight for what it is. The main thing I Don’t like about it besides the LOUD noise is that the hose Hoover gives you is TOO SHORT, I had to get a stretch hose that’s for a Self propelled WindTunnel.
I've had my Hoover for 15. Still going strong! Unfortunately, though, I've recently realized that the raising/lowering feature on the vacuum head no longer works.
Compared to the UK, the US gets so many more bagged uprights at the budget end, including from Bissell who, sadly, we no longer get full size corded uprights from here in the UK, and I think many have been withdrawn since the EU ban on 900W+ motors. All we seem to get here now at the budget end is the 20 year old designed Purepower and its Enigma derivative, and they are a puny 350W now, so not terribly powerful. The budget bagged market in the UK is better for cylinder vacuums, but not everyone wants a cylinder. Of course, there is SEBO Felix, X7 and the Miele U1, but they are all hardly what I would call "budget". That machine looks great for the money, and probably a bit better made than the fragile Purepower.
Very nice Hoover if you have a Maytag with a stretch hose the stretch hose will fit on this cleaner if you rather use it with a stretch hose I have this vacuum except mine a bit older with the headlight and the piston bag check indicator I took a stretch hose from a wind tunnel supreme and it fit directly on this cleaner so mine has a stretch hose
Though many of these might last two or three years I do know some people who have had them up to about seven years when they take care of them. Noisy but great performance and a proper suite of accessories.
That struggles a bit on a lower setting because the belts get stretched over time why they are in their boxes and you do need to be replaced quite frequently depending on usage.
Oh....forgot to add: makes a great companion vac to a suction only canister like a basic Miele. The Hoover is excellent on carpets, the Miele is excellent for cleaning everything else! They make a great team together.
One of the best cheaper vacuum cleaners. Huge pluses about it it's direct air system which has been around for decades and is better than these newer bypass bagless systems ( all airflow comes from a hose 😞)other pluses about this one is its bagged with 12 amps.
Hoover Tempo (at first glance): *I wasnt made for collection! I wad built for floorcare, commercial use, detailing, upholstery cleaning, and THEN TO GO TO THE TRASH! I DONT BELONG HERE!* (at second glance):Uh. Maybe life isnt so bad after all. Hope this lasts you a long time. :)
Cool, Roger, that's awesome. Do you know the Hoover that looks like that one, but has the hepa filter on the side? I don't remember the model name. Maybe, you know. Much appreciated, Sir. Thank you for your amazing videos!
I cannot find this anywhere on the internet except on ebay for $333.00. Can you provide me with a link of where I can find it online. it is not at amazon or walmart. it is the best budget vacuum ever.. I have been using my since 2009 but would now like a new one. Thanks
The reason that most American cleaners have quality cords is purely a physical one and has little to do with a business decision. With half the voltage, 120 volts, double the current has to travel through the wires to achieve the same power transmission. So an American 12 amp cleaner (12 A x 120 V = 1440 W) would only draw 6 amps if it was a 240 volt model (6 A x 240 V = 1440 W). Now, the crucial point is that with double the current you need double the amount of copper in the cord. Think you have lazy American pixies working only half as hard as the busy British ones, you therefore need double the crowd of pixies who all have to travel through the wires. So you need to have twice as many lanes on the American pixie freeway than on the British motorways.
Anxious to see the mess test of it. Hoover sold this design to royal commercial and they use it as a commercial orange machine. That machine has no filtration it in except bags and it (no pun intended) sucks!

They are very good cheep vacuums. I want one so bad. I have a Hoover windtunnel with the TTI motor and its pretty good.
@@AwesomeVacuums better than the bagged powerforce.
Agreed

I agree! Listen to the man who’s name is on the machine!
Chinese motor?

Nice to see another bagged upright.
Good vid as always. Thanks for posting!!

Lovely coloured vacuum with socks to match seems good for a budget cleaner but I don't like the none flexi hose but seems to do well on your carpets

I had one of these in the past and it was the best i ever used
Really nice unboxing and quick demo review Roger.

Shame about the noise . It looks like a very good hoover. Thank you Roger.
I own the headlight version. I’ve owned it for 10 years
I've had my Hoover for 15. Still going strong! Unfortunately, though, I've recently realized that the raising/lowering feature on the vacuum head no longer works.
I have this vacuum cleaner and it really does a great job

What is your daily vacuum you prefer to use at home? Preferably with good filtration too.
I don’t have a vacuum I use all the time, but I tend to use my bagged Sebo and Miele models the most.
That struggles a bit on a lower setting because the belts get stretched over time why they are in their boxes and you do need to be replaced quite frequently depending on usage.

I have the original USA manufactured model in my collection that I actually got brand new!
Cool :/
Hoover Tempo (at first glance): *I wasnt made for collection! I wad built for floorcare, commercial use, detailing, upholstery cleaning, and THEN TO GO TO THE TRASH! I DONT BELONG HERE!*
(at second glance):Uh. Maybe life isnt so bad after all.

Had mine for 15 years with a bag check indicator and headlight
Hello sir may I ask what song you use in the opening of the video?
I have that exact same Hoover Tempo Widepath Bagged
Cool, Roger, that's awesome. Do you know the Hoover that looks like that one, but has the hepa filter on the side? I don't remember the model name. Maybe, you know. Much appreciated, Sir. Thank you for your amazing videos!
It may have been the Windtunnel.
I have that same Hoover tempo with the headlights and bag check indercator.
That brush roll is made by the same company that makes the new Kirby brush rolls... CWP I think
Can you do a review on the Bissell Powerforce Helix Turbo Rewind Bagless upright? :)
Well that took a dark turn...
This one appears to have a different motor than the older ones had.
I cannot find this anywhere on the internet except on ebay for $333.00. Can you provide me with a link of where I can find it online. it is not at amazon or walmart. it is the best budget vacuum ever.. I have been using my since 2009 but would now like a new one. Thanks
They are no longer available. Good luck to that eBay seller
12 amps that's why it's loud
Uh.
Have you other American imports planned?
Yes, another one coming up very soon.
Can I reuse d bag?

I read one of your post where you said you own 180 vacuums, my wife thinks I’m insane for owning 14. What will she say about number 15?
Probably divorce you. Keep any future purchases secret.
donde consigo las bolsas ?
Amazon
I have a hoover tempo that I got from a goodwill in north srycuse
if you want to see what happens when electrical devices are subject to too much voltage watch photonicinduction's channel ;-)
So you have 2 hoover tempo
No, only one. The other similar looking machine is a Windtunnel Anniversary.
Ok
My hose tends to pop out a lot
It’s very annoying. Needs to be a few inches longer.
That's what the ball and chain tells me. Oh well. I work with what I have....@@ibaisaic
I didn't know you had an Alexa.
I have three, but only one is plugged in. She spies on me.
This is actually made in Mexico
*UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.*
*You may want earplugs.* :)
1st!!!!
