My Tempo I bought for my first apartment in ‘07 just died! I’m so sad. And on Christmas. I used it to clean the cars, and now that I live in a house with tile, along the baseboards. I loved this vacuum! It had a light. This was the last of the truly great bargain vacuums, LOUD but VERY EFFECTIVE.
I have an early TTI one it was made around 2009 so early days for TTI right around the transition from Maytag. The motor in mine has the same tone and pitch but isn’t as shrill as yours, if that makes sense. It’s also a more deluxe one with the tools behind a clear door, stretch hose, EDF, fingertip power switch, and bag check. Though the cord is still excruciatingly short. They are incredibly good vacuums, definitely in my top 3 favorite uprights.
Awesome review of the Hoover Wide Path Tempo vacuum! One of the last great Hoovers despite TTI cheapening it by adding a Chinese motor replacing the old Maytag ones. Overall still a great machine.
You should do a review/comparison between this vacuum and the newer tempo and see which on is better. I.E which one cleans better, which one is quieter, and which one has the best build quality.
I have the better Maytag version with all the features that TTi strip down and much better sounding maytag motor instead of the TTi motor. There was a Tempo plus where you get a stretch hose, a long crevice tool and i think a longer cord.
