The backing inst which starts at 3:50 and goes main later at 4:00 (in a music video that inst is almost cut completely) is sooo powerful and iconic, it reminds me of a unicorn running faster & faster against a storm and just suddenly disappearing with a wind
I actually undestand this song NOW, even though I have been listening to it since I was, like 10. :) Artists always tend to write about their own experience. To become an artist, you usually forget who you are by refusing your ego and what people have been telling you your whole life and that is because you want to paint your own world, be the most succsessful version of yourself. We are all nemos when we are born, and becone someone through experience. :)
I love the variety there is in the metal genre you've got savage manly metal, you've got high speed fantasy metal, etc, and then you've got Nightwish, Classy Metal.
Symphonic Metal, there is no speed here nor is it appropriate. While this one of their simplest and slowest songs. it is definitely one of their best composed.... which is saying a lot considering how consistently good the rest of their music is.

Anette was at her best in Imaginaerum and Floor's Shudder Before The Beautiful is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. And I'm sure whoever they get next will star in something that will end up on my favorites list. I judge things by their own merits instead of comparing them to the ones who came before.
Foxforch I was sorely disappointed by Dark Passion Play. That being said, there's still 2 or 3 songs I do like from there, but nothing compared to their earlier work. Imaginaerium was a level ahead, and I do love quite a few of the songs on there (the movie was amazing too, in my opinion). Now with Endless Forms Most Beautiful, I feel like they took yet another step back. I don't know if they will ever again capture the sound and spirit contained in Oceanborn, Once, etc, let alone surpass it, but I am hoping they're able to one day. IMO, Imaginaerium came the closest. I've tried listening to Tarja's solo stuff as well, and it's just not the same either.
