A man behind the wheel of a stolen SUV on Wednesday afternoon led sheriff's deputies on a wild high-speed chase through southeast Los Angeles County before crashing in downtown L.A., authorities said.
The pursuit, which began in East L.A., made its way on surface streets through the cities of Vernon and Huntington Park before entering Boyle Heights.
After driving into downtown L.A.'s fashion district, the driver jumped out of the vehicle as it was still moving and made a run for it near the Santee Alley. The SUV crashed into a light pole at low speed.

LA police are an absolute joke. 10 squad cars following this dude at the beginning of this video where the suspect is driving slow, stopping at light where they could have easily blocked that dude in and ended it immediately. Instead, they do nothing and by the end of the video he is driving reckless almost killing people as they walk across the street and not a cop anywhere in sight. How pathetic.

Driving at high speeds through crowded neighborhoods and still stopping at red lights - a very unexpected situation! The end of the video when the thief abandoned the car and ran on foot shows his desperation, but also highlights the vigilance and responsiveness of the police. I learned that in dangerous situations like this, the carefulness and strategy of the police can minimize the risk of accidents and protect community safety
