Your video is very good. It's wonderful to see modern machines working to help people reduce labor and increase product productivity in an amazing way.
Well Zach, always enjoy watching what you do and exlain what you do, love those 2 dogs and cute little cat, say hi to Jim as us Canadians miss him and his great attitude and yest for life, be safe !
Same here! Born and raised in a small town in MI, but never worked on a farm. It's amazing all the work that goes into it! And the machines these days. . . Just incredible! I can't imagine how it must have been even 50, 60 years ago before GPS, Autosteer, etc.!
Seems like the start of bean harvest can be challenging when they aren't quite uniformly dry. I'm sure you'll get things dialed in and ready to make the big push in a couple of days.
We always found that the last field of any crop threshed the easiest. Mainly because that one was ready to harvest. The earlier fields were not really ready, but we were 🤔
As you head into Harvest season "Thank You" to all the Farmers for doing what you do. Great to see 4th gen. and 5th gen. Johnsons working side by side keeping the focus on Family farming. You'll never know how much you'll miss your parents until you do. All the best to Mr. Jim. 🙏
Your my fav UA-cam I’m 15 been watching you since you started I love farming I don’t have a farm but when I watch your videos I learn a lot I wish I could meet you in person that would be my dream pls respond to this comment if you don’t it’s not a problem love your vids I do learn a lot about farming can’t wait for the next vid
As Always, i am so impressed by the knowledge that Zack has but it's the Patriarch of the farm and his quiet leadership that keeps things organized and working smooth. And what a great relationship between dad and Zack. And then there's mom that holds it all together. Got to be the best run organization in Minnesota. Just a little jealous since we only had a horse and a stuborn old mule for the tobacco farm in North Carolina and a worn out 39 Chevy to travel down the dirt roads to the store about once every 2 weeks. No refrigerator. Kept butter in the well.
Thanks for another great video Zach and Dad. Interesting video. Harvest 2023 has started. Yeah!!!!! Your beans are tough and it seems that is the same on other videos as well. That kind of year I guess. You got off to a good start with just a handful of necessary adjustments. No breakdowns. Yeah!!!!!! Missing Jim. Best wishes for a good recovery. About it I guess. Thanks for everything. Take care and be safe. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
As someone who grew up on a farm, but unfortunately do not have any relation to it anymore, I Can still remember the exitement of getting the combine started the first day of harvest. Thank you for sharing the videos!
Thank you for making these videos it takes me back and makes me remember that I can go back to farming at any time just got to make sure I got the money
We have never been happy with the round bar concaves running in beans. We plugged bin sumps much like you guys have. We finally put some concave inserts on the outsides of the concave sections. Two inserts made a world of difference in getting the pods threshed out and also preventing splits.
One kit comes with two inserts. We put one insert on front of front concave the other on the front of the second concave. We have used 3 inserts before when the beans were really tough and rain was coming.
In SE Wisconsin, beans haven't started yet, but I did see someone running corn this morning. We have about five days of 80 degree weather coming before the bottom drops out on the 5th of October..........
Already miss Jim. Hope he has a speedy recovery ❤️🩹.
I agreee

@@timwilkinson2797Zac said he had to have surgery. He didn’t elaborate but said Jim would be out the whole harvest.

Zach, thank your wife for us for the great editing she always does! And I hope Jim is doing well! Looking forward to seeing him again!!
Try closing the bottom Chaffer so the unthreshed pods are returned to the cylinder for rethrashing

Try putting a large wire concave up front instead of a round bar, worked for us.
I bet Welker’s would let you borrow their seed cleaning machine they used for removing a lot of debris and pods. Wishing Jim a speedy recovery

Yes! I have been waiting for this since ages.
Thanks for sharing
I love the sound a 9870's unload makes
I agree
If you did not have cover plates on the first two sections of the concave putting them on might have helped with the pods in the hopper
It's official harvest season is here!
I agree with that
Jim is a favorite of mine on this channel. Can't wait for his triumphant return. Godspeed Jim.
Once you get a frost or freeze those pods will thrash easier.

Get well Jim!! Miss you on the video.
If you are happy with how clean the ground is you can write down the settings down on a piece of paper for the next year
That is just what we do and it helps us out a lot

Hey! We had a similar issue in Hungary in the summer, but with canola.
Love the farm action.
Overloading top sieve bud. Open your concaves up, open your bottom sieve and push the air.
We are running into same problem in north central north dakota . Green stems moisture at 9 to 12 % .north of minot . This year.
Here in Australia we are just starting now.

Amazing the speed and volume of material the machine takes in.
Change to case combined and you will have no problems with your settings
