Think about how long a case of paint lasts you when you play mag fed paintball. The amount of money you save a year in paint easily offsets the initial cost to get into mag fed...
I can second this, I don’t play that seriously, or as much as you guys but a case of paint near me is 60 dollars, if I use a hopper I could go through that, maybe even a little more in one trip going. But with magfed I use at most half a case. I love paintball, both magfed and hopper fed are fun, but I think magfed is more enjoyable imo
the real POINT of magfed is the realism it gives you, no longer does it feel like you're carrying some 1950's concept UFO blaster, you're carrying something that looks just like what the military uses today. ALSO with magfed markers you dont have to aim down the side haha, now we can actually aim down the sights
Not only that, pump takes away every advantage you had playing limited paint, like in magfed limited paint gives you a lower profile and rails to add necessary attachments. As well as you're not playing gravity fed so you can shoot at any angle as well as use first strikes. With pump you're basically playing speedsball with less ammo and not even semi as an option...
I like both sports, but for me, mag fed paintball is a lot more immersive. The guns are a lot louder, you can hear the rounds pass over you, and most importantly for me, it hurts when you get shot. it really makes you think before making a move. I also enjoy compensating for the drop of a paintball rather than using hop up and pairing it with an optic because it makes it easier for me to dial in an optic if the trajectory is constant...
dakickazz I agree I have 6 mags and make them work to the game I'm playing, also I get a lot of kills with grenades I like the weight I'm carrying and feels more simulation than firing 150 rounds a minute.
IKR, I like having a rifle that weighs 7 pounds and a plate carrier with magazines that carries everything I need in the field. It brings the reality into the game a little bit when you aren't running around in the woods with just one gun and a t-shirt. Sure you're a bit slower, but it also helps you learn drills that involve shooting on the move because you aren't a jackrabbit running up the tapeline :)
Heavy bulky gear is pretty much worn on purpose to provide the realistic feel. Magfed players intentionally handicap themselves on ammo, rate of fire and mobility. It's tough to go against speedballers or pump players at this disadvantage. But if you manage to adapt this play style then it makes you better. A lot of ex military guys I know run magfed and don't complain at all, wonder why. I guess magfed isn't for everyone in that sense. Pump players have my respect tho.
I bought a secondhand Tippmann A5 for £180. I then bought the Vortex Magfed conversion kit for £160, which included 5 helix mags, that held 20 paintballs each. I can use one marker to switch between the 2 types of games.
I am slowly working my way to pump all the time. I like my DAM but it was free. It's heavy. cost a lot to keep her going. I just picked up a Phantom VSC and I'm super stoked. I can't wait to go play as soon as she arrives.
With pump play you literally take away EVERY advantage you have from playing with limited ammo. In magfed you have a lower profile, you can shoot first strikes, you can add more necessary tactical attachments, you don't feed by gravity so you can shoot from every angle, and you can have better accuracy. I also find with pump it's like having a speedsball gun with limited ammo without even semi as an option.
First off ever heard of stock class? and don't say your profile is less cause it isnt. it's the exact same. Also mils I'm guns aren't accurate especially compared to pumps. Also with pump you don't need all the tacticool shit like you guys do with your dumb looking milsigs...
Don't get me started on first strikes. I mean, sure, if you want to buy the ability to shoot people from outside their range, great. But that's what it is: buying accuracy. And if used in recball, can ruin a new player's day just as much as some moron ramping.
Good point! But ability to use them is a nice factor when having a magfed marker. You are also forgetting that playing magfed is based around scenario gameplay; to act as if you are that soldier fighting for that objective. Also mechanical full auto. A milsig product which has changed the game for magfed players. Don't get me wrong your points are valid, but also think of some advantages magfed players use on the field. We r not just money spending paintballballers. Can't say that about the dude with the dye dam!!
Sorry, very late reply I know, but how is buying accuracy with first strikes different from a speedballer buying a custom barrel setup or using freak inserts/backs etc. Those guns have double the range of basic markers anyway. I have never used fsr, been shot by them though and I think they are great. It allows a different style of play.
+VoidGap I don't understand your question in total? The technology behind FSR is amazing. Yea you are buying accuracy but it's how you use it. A speedballers comes to a game buys a box of graffiti easily $60 bucks in US. I spend 40 on FSR and will prolly borrow reg paint from a friend or buy a 15 dollar bag. Plus the range is always double the range if not more accurate. I play a lot of magfed games so I don't face enough speedball players. But they do beat 65% of the time...
Another down side is availability. The 20 rd square head mags for the M17 haven't been available for months, and when they do show up I bet they sell out in a couple days then it will be another few months until more are ready. Titus always has 10 rd tubes ready to ship.
probably one of the only pro/cons from a non magfed player that I've seen that was 100% objective and you made it clear that these reasons were specific to your preferences. I play magfed primarily, and I agree with your observations about the drawbacks in comparison to general pump play. What do you use to carry your 10rd tubes? When I play pump I always end up losing paint from tubes due to the caps getting bumped open when I'm running/crawling/etc (using the tubes with the tether caps)
Thank you. I have an old US Army PALS vest, very lightweight, with a couple of MOLLE panels that each hold up to 9 tubes or 12 grams, and I have loops sewn onto the thighs of my pants, which are sufficient for recball; I only use the vest for big games.
I'm glad you touched upon the Magfed adapter for the 98 - which BTW works with Tippmann 7rd and 12rd mags as well as with zetamags - as that was exactly how I got into magfed play. I originally started playing limited paint years before paintball magazines took off and used a LAPCO direct feed paired with a Palmer stock tube. It's funny though, I've gone back to 10rd tubes for some of the reasons you cited, mainly the weight issue - as an asthmatic who has had two knee surgeries, any additional weight reduces the amount I can play and ultimately the fun I can have. I'll keep the magfed adapter in case I ever play a MFOG, otherwise, its 10rd tubes and springfeeds all the way.
initially i was pro pump due to the slimfit. but afer a few pump trials i learned handling tubes is wery finiky. with tipx the balls are allready prepped in advance in the sk tube. reloading is faster.
all of the magfed games i gone to did alow my automag with 15 round magazine due to it being a limited paint setup and take time to reload like playing with a real magfed with only one magazine and reload the magazine every time is empty.
+Matthew Mccoy Most of the magfed players I play with in the UK are fine with me using that setup (small magfed community over here). Your tubes become mags. I prefer it, less breaks than magfed, less weight to carry all day.
Before even starting the video the fact he's wearing a jersey means he's probably going to bitch about the price, the pace, the low ammo, and probably the seriousness.
Imma just get a tippman stormer elite so I can go nagged if I want but I’m not going to spend a lot of money so I will probably play hopper fed for a while til I get the rest of the gear
The Stormer is really really nice. Super easy to upgrade, maintain, and is hella reliable and durable. I've had my modified Cronus for over 7 years and it still destroys people
I love your reason, very logic. Honestly it's very reasonable. To play with first-strike u need 800-1500 usd maybe. It's very expensive. But i hope you, will playing magfed someday !. I think every people thingking about it, i mean money, investment, future or something else. I hope someday, 1000 or 4000 usd will be easy for everyone.
I run my eNMEy with the springfeed that comes with I think the Empire Sniper?, I managed to find a shop that stocks it separate. Its my goto marker if I have issues with my other markers. Most times though i'll use my Tibby, not because its magfed, but because its compact and pistol sized. We're lucky here though, we have a monthly club where its magfed/limited paint setups only. 50 round hoppers are rare and one time we had 4 separate Crossman 3357's on the field!
Hello everyone. I'm just beginning paintball and I've got a few loadouts in my mind. As a beginner, should I get a magfed loadout or should I get a hopper fed gun and wait until I'm more experienced? Or is it okay to get a magfed marker right off the bat?
I suggest that you start with a regular hopper fed marker first. Pump and limited paint can be frustrating, especially to new players. The fact that you can't sling as much paint with a pump as a semi-auto puts you at a disadvantage until you start getting more experience. With the magfed side you're limited by the paint unless you buy the expensive Dye DAM setup with a box mag ($1200+). That said. I agree with Seth, rent a few times before you jump the gun and buy a whole setup. Paintball isn't cheap to get into if you do it right. The only thing I absolutely suggest is to get a good thermal mask first. They're more comfortable, less likely to fog, and better built than the typical rental mask. If you have any questions, just hit me up with a DM. I enjoy helping new guys into this awesome sport. :)
@@halo4xgamer I know that this is old, but I started off with a Tippmann Cronus, modified it until I got it to exactly the way I wanted it to, and a few years ago I decided after handling a Tippmann TMC from one of my paintball fields selling the gun that I wanted my next marker to be one that's magfed, and that's exactly what I bought; a First Strike T-15! I'm absolutely loving it so far, and while my Cronus will never go away because of how amazing it is even after all of these years, I am having so much fun with my T-15.
If I were to split hairs with magfed-->I've always wanted to use a Dukie Lever action Phantom with Apoc4lypse Springpheed and say it's a Henry Rifle with a tubular magazine. hehe
I just like the idea of providing technicalities to the "magazine." Otherwise, I've held T8's and TiPX's and it doesn't feel right in my hand. Plus I see your point in spatial efficiency with mags in comparison to tubes as I was "blessed in fire" starting pump in stock class...smh I blame my friend.
Magfed is the future of all pb. _Legacy_ pb (anything with a hopper of any sort) has become stale. The future of milsim markers is a lower caliber (.50) shaped projectile - similar to the shape of a .45 bullet. This will load through mags easier - have more realistic mag capacity than even airsoft - will be more accurate then fs - will have higher velocities but still lower joules than .68 - and will have the ability for longer ranges for the greatest _realism_. Magfed is ready for a renaissance; basically a blend of airsoft wep realism - the accuracy and range of shaped projectiles - and the audible, visceral experience of legacy pb.
I agree with much of that, but I wouldn't go as far to say that mag fed paintball guns should convert over to 50 cal. .68 has greater range, which is pretty important in milsim paintball and I don't see fsr's being released in 50 cal any time soon. 50 cal magfed paintball would be really good for cqb and indoor play though. As you said, the magazine capacity would also be much closer to a milsim loadout.
I just bought a First Strike T-15 after playing with my modified Tippman Cronus for all these years (I still have it and still plan on using it), and I'm adoring it so far
You should use all your analysis to play with the most specific and challenging conditions of any discipline, as well as how you speak, so you should take skills to overcome those walls and enjoy things more, and that I consider myself a negative person. But that makes me see more opportunities to overcome difficulties and barriers. YOUR criticism DOES NOT work, but because, A CRITICISM WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION DOES NOT WORK. It is easy to criticize, destroy, anyone does it, but to give positive and constructive ideas ... few, and those are the ones that transcend, excuse me but out of curiosity I saw him and it is something that only caused me pain. I am a WoodsBall and MagFed player. Despite everything you say, playing with those restrictions and limitations is thanks to you, more comforting ... something I took from your sad video (sad for being negative), knowing that I do not care about everything you said and ALL my colleagues we will continue playing ... you will NOT change the world ... and your criticism, well, at least it inspired me to comment ... Greetings.
the only reason to play magfed is to simulate a military playing style. No need to compare or to explain the difference between hopper vs magfed. The need to buy magazines or a tactical vest to play mag fed is not a reason to not play this sort of games and the cost of magazines as well. its very simple, if you want to play a milsim style paintball magfed is for you i not you are better off playing hopper fed paintball .
dude youre making it out like magfed is soooo expensive. my whole setup including dye i4s cost £235 - that's way cheaper than a decent speedball marker and its a tipx -_- mega reliable marker with easy maintenance as well as 4x7 round, ags and 3x20 round mags -- CHEAP
First, that's ~$340, which is not an inexpensive setep. Second, the problem isn't the cost of the setup itself, it's the cost of converting. Most players don't start out with magfed, so you've already put $200-$500 into your setup, whatever it is. To convert to magfed, you need to invest several hundred more on top of what you've already spent. It adds up. In absolute terms, it's not more than any other style, sure. But while a player may rent a few times then buy a midrange electro setup, it's quite rare for a first setup to be magfed.
+DarwinZDF42 I pretty much started magfed :/ and before you think "oh he probably had family who plays magfed already that why!" No, I spent months looking for an affordable set up that I would enjoy ~ some people just buy then think!
+Marc Stirfry Yeah Tipx is nice and cheap. I'd recommend running it on HPA. I ran two on co2 with modded plugs (really quick co2 change) and found on co2 in average UK temps you can freeze them solid. Both mine would freeze around the same time, then I had to switch to the T8.1's for the rest of the day. However I did fire a lot of paint (carried 10 zeta mags (so maybe mysetup was not cheap lol) and a couple of 7 round mags).
+Marc Stirfry Yes but imagine how heavy it is compared to a VSC Phantom (Used for like $200), and a Joyride Stock Class harness (Holds 15 tubes, which is 150 paintballs, which is also like 50 more then your set up can carry) and 10 round tubes for like $0.69 each (rather then $15 for 7 rounds, or $25 for a 20 round zeta mag) Then you have to get something to carry those mags which means you need a vest, and mag pouches. So please, tell me which one is better
I honestly think that tubes are a form of mag fed not mags as per say but I play mag fed is for limited rounds and a different style not just to say you dont use mag now you suck because they are not mags and my field i play accepts tubes as a form :-)
PUMP PLAY > MAG FED PLAY!!!!! Pump takes so much more skill than magfed. When I played with a guy at my fields magfed marker, Idk what type it was I just know it was a Rap4 and it was based of a M4 style gun, but I felt like I had gained an advantage from my pump witha 50 round hopper. Its semi auto and I could shot 3 to 5 rounds at my target just like any other semi auto marker and thts all It takes with any tippman 98 rental marker, any player whos been playing for a couple years should be able to hit their target with in 3 to 5 shots easy from 75 feet away so I didnt see besides the 10 to 20 rounds only in a mag thing that mad it a disadvantage, plus I had 2 other mags with 20 rounds in them in my pockets. I didnt have the same fun playing with it as my pump, plus I only go out with a a 50 round hopper filled each game playing pump which is 10 less than I had with the magfed marker and I dont have to carry extra pods like with the magfed which wasnt even a big deal cause they slid into the pockets of my bdu pants perfectly, the guy who owned was trying to prove that magfed required more skill than pump so he bet me that I could have any success like I did with my pump if I went out with his magfed and 2 mags like he does but I shot out 10 out of 15 of the other teams players with it and hung the flag and he just looked at me with anger and yanked his marker out of my hand after watching with a refferee shirt on observing the game and after that he was gunning fro me the whole day and his anger fucked up his game he said blaming that on why he dumped a whole 20 rounds at me and could hit me after I gogged him with ny first shot after snapping out on him trying to shoot with his right hand out the left side of his bunker his whole left side of his body sticking out for me to shoot hahhahahhahahaha!!! He just come sto the field with a molle vest and full bdus tucked in combat boots with the legs tucked in and a helmet on with his save phace mask mathcing his bdus and has been gunning for me for a year know but he just can seem get over his anger and actually every shoot me and goes around talking shit about pump players when theirs only one other pump plyer at the field, I offered to talk to him and see if we could work it out even though I never said anything to him agianst magfed accept when I innitially first shot him out which caused him to come up to me and start saying how " oh you think your so good cause your playing pump! Mag fed requires so much more skill cause I only have 20 rounds to use and my barrel i only 11 inches long" even though mine is 14 inches which is 3 inche longer and barrel lenght has nothing to do with accuracyand I just responded well then let me play a game with your gun and you can observe the game and fallow me around and well see how I do and when I offered to just smash the little thing he has against me and he thinks I have against him and I tryed to offer him to play a game with my pump and I let him try it out and he doesnt even know how to hold a tournament style marker propperly let alone a pump gun and it took him nearly half my 50 round hopper to hit a large plastic blue trashcan at the shooting range that was 75 feet away and he through down my gun on to the table and yelled " this gun doesnt even look like a real gun how am I suppose to even hold it properly and have any stability so I can be accurate!!!!!" and after that I just grabed my marker and shook my head at him and walked away in disbelief that the guy had never learned how to hold a conventiall tournament style setup cause his first marker was a project salvo witha stock and he just went on to magfed after that, I just cant stand how kids are coming into the sport and seeing these markers like tippman makes that look like real guns and so they immedietly go to those and never even pick up and tank hopper and tournament style gun setup I mean even just a spider mech gun that doesnt look like a firearm and you put the tank on and a gravity hopper and shoulder the tank, there never even looking at using tournament style guns on the rec or woodsball field cause they jsut never get the propper teaching about which one is propper!!!. I understand people play how they want and that side of paintball sells well but for the sport side tournament ball the side that the public doesnt get to see, the side that require a development of skill that takes time and dedication to aquire, they dont see the dedication and athleticism of the pro circuit, guys like Oliver Lang, Ryan Geenspan, Konstatin Federov, Jason Edwards, Karl Marcowski, Chad Busierre, Keith Brown, and so many more pro players that treat this like a real sport and are pure athletes and are in awsome shape just for paintball if the public saw what they do on that Xball field in the NXL and how awsome and amazing it looks and is then they would take paintball mor seriously, but instead the public see these 30 to 50 yearold men running around in the woods trying to look like navy seals and holding markers that resemble real firearms and they see no athleticism or dedication, or skill of anything, they just see a nice fun little hobby and put it down their with airsoft and see it as a fun little hobbby you do on the weekends.
The only reason I play magfed is cuz I wanna train my muscles to hold my real AR correct and make my movements more natural ... otherwise I would probably not like paintball that much
Think about how long a case of paint lasts you when you play mag fed paintball. The amount of money you save a year in paint easily offsets the initial cost to get into mag fed...
Magfed Jim main reason why I do it. I don’t want to spend a shit ton of money on a good gun and the also spend a shit ton on the paint every time I go
Laughs in first strike rounds
I can second this, I don’t play that seriously, or as much as you guys but a case of paint near me is 60 dollars, if I use a hopper I could go through that, maybe even a little more in one trip going. mihajlo525 Thank you!! I'm a mag fed player and you said what I was going to say!
Then why dont you just play air soft. Its best for realism.
JOE Prendergast because with airsoft you have to rely on the honor system, with paintball you know when you've been hit and so does everyone else.
I see the points that you've made. Funny thing is that most of the points you for why you don't play, are some of the reasons why I play! Lol
dakickazz I agree I have 6 mags and make them work to the game I'm playing, also I get a lot of kills with grenades I like the weight I'm carrying and feels more simulation than firing 150 rounds a minute.

I swear you sound like Ross from Friends....
holy shit thought i was the only one that lmfao!
+Paintball Noob hiiiiiiiiay lol

Paintball Noob hahaha
Haha. So true

Yes but playing with tubs makes your marker look like something u made in your basement and mag fed guns look awesome.
As someone who has made a significant amount of their gear in their basement, I am untroubled by this.
I am slowly working my way to pump all the time. I like my DAM but it was free. It's heavy. cost a lot to keep her going.

I’m all for magfed for the realism but I have a 98 with a cyclone and response trigger and I just can’t seem to get away from that.
You can also buy a tpix magwell for any feedneck
initially i was pro pump due to the slimfit. but afer a few pump trials i learned handling tubes is wery finiky. with tipx the balls are allready prepped in advance in the sk tube. reloading is faster.
thing about the tubes they are two cheap pieces of plastic while a mag is multiple pices of plastic, screws, and a spring
Check out MCS's TACAMO BLIZZARD TACTICAL, comes right now with 5 mags cost $199.00.
all of the magfed games i gone to did alow my automag with 15 round magazine due to it being a limited paint setup and take time to reload like playing with a real magfed with only one magazine and reload the magazine every time is empty.
Operation Ivory Coast was such a good game!
I’d like to hear your thoughts 7years later talk then brotha
Darwin, what about a cram and jam? the tubes are the mags, they stay in the cram n jam, and you need to change them out to reload.
+Matthew Mccoy Most of the magfed players I play with in the UK are fine with me using that setup (small magfed community over here). Your tubes become mags. I prefer it, less breaks than magfed, less weight to carry all day.

good point i prefer stock class or modified stock class. Iam old.
What do you think of modern electro-pnuematic speedball markers adapted with a 10 round tube to change the game play to a wider audience?
I wish more people would do that. I've seen it a couple of times. If it was widespread, you'd have a much more interesting and accessible game.
I have seen this too, as well as the use of a 50 round on a modern electro.
I run my eNMEy with the springfeed that comes with I think the Empire Sniper?, I managed to find a shop that stocks it separate. Its my goto marker if I have issues with my other markers. We're lucky here though, we have a monthly club where its magfed/limited paint setups only. 50 round hoppers are rare and one time we had 4 separate Crossman 3357's on the field!
My magfed loadout was only 600 dollars roughly
F*cking starts the video half way in? 2:53 is why you came here.
Hello everyone. I'm just beginning paintball and I've got a few loadouts in my mind. As a beginner, should I get a magfed loadout or should I get a hopper fed gun and wait until I'm more experienced? Or is it okay to get a magfed marker right off the bat?
EL OH EL just go to a paintball shop, rent a gun and play. You'll see how you like the Tippmann 98/semi auto and go from there.
Thanks guys!
@@justalpha9138 does the t15 do really good with regular .68 paint ?
If I were to split hairs with magfed-->I've always wanted to use a Dukie Lever action Phantom with Apoc4lypse Springpheed and say it's a Henry Rifle with a tubular magazine. hehe
That sounds amazing.
Is there actually a difference in range ? Or is it just for looks?
GoodTimeTraveler to each is own
Megfed is the only way to go. And you cant use fs rounds with a hopper feed
Greetings.
Could I play magfed paintball with a JT tactical?
No
Jt is not tactical
+Old glory If you used 10 round tubes in the feedneck, then yeah, technically your playing magfed. Changing a tube every time its empty.
+kudosbudo nah..it isn't worth it
i have more fun playing magfed but i do enjoy speedball
Are 50 rounds hoppers allowed in MagFed?
Depends on the game, different groups, fields, and organizers have different rules.
ok thanks
+BxgoldenB0Y36 My bet is that in most mag fed games the answer is no. 50 rounds is 4-5x more than any mag on the field.
+BxGoldenBOY36 its always accepted where I go, most places will understand people unable to get magfed marker id assume
the only reason to play magfed is to simulate a military playing style.
I play magfed like speed ball. Running an m17 with 6 magazines, plus one loaded, across my belt. I play just like I do when I'm running my Gtek.
I agree magfed is a cool concept but airsoft already did it down and dirty hopper paintball is the way to go
you going to vintage day on 7/27?
YES! I'm there, very much looking forward to it.
DarwinZDF42 awesome, see ya there.
i definitely played with you a long time ago. I'm from nj
dude youre making it out like magfed is soooo expensive. my whole setup including dye i4s cost £235 - that's way cheaper than a decent speedball marker and its a tipx -_- mega reliable marker with easy maintenance as well as 4x7 round, ags and 3x20 round mags -- CHEAP
+kudosbudo yeah man I only run hpa, free refills at my local site + healthier for marker
If your on a budget then the speedball azodin Kaos is a better gun then the magfed tmc and it’s 100$ cheaper
And personally I like to shoot fast
I honestly think that tubes are a form of mag fed not mags as per say but I play mag fed is for limited rounds and a different style not just to say you dont use mag now you suck because they are not mags and my field i play accepts tubes as a form :-)
Magfed
Do you ever get tired of ranting about something that could easily be summed up in like 2 sentences? You prefer playing pump. Congrats...
Mag Fed Ops yeah I look at the comment and skipped it
i aint readin allat
The only reason I play magfed is cuz I wanna train my muscles to hold my real AR correct and make my movements more natural ... otherwise I would probably not like paintball that much
1. Get a job!
2. You dont like collecting guns?!
3. Why you need so much paint? Learn to aim!
Turboactive people like you make this world shittier. Not something to be proud of.
Get roasted
word. magfed kiddos are killing the industry.
I did not say that, nor do I think that. The more people playing paintball the better. Magfed just isn't my scene.
Based on what exactly?
First of all, that is not true, and second of all, I can safely tell you that I just recently bought a T-15 and I am absolutely in love with it
