Markers 05b: Micro Phantom with Side-Saddle 12 Gram Changer

I recently changed the configuration on my micro Phantom pretty significantly with the addition of a side-saddle ICD lever changer setup from Apocalypse Paintball Designs. These were made in a VERY limited run a few years ago, so if you see one available, snag it. You won't regret it. This is my new favorite CCI Phantom 12 gram configuration.

Darwin FPS 98.2 - click clack BLOOP

The highlights from Click Clack Bloop, a VERY retro stock class game held on 9/28/19 at Linglestown Paintball in Harrisburg, PA. For the first bunch of games, markers were limited to PGPs, Nelsons, Spatmasters, and single shots. The rules loosened slightly in the afternoon to include most stock class markers. Lots of fun, lots of silliness, lots of Hawaiian shirts. Want to play a game like this...

Darwin FPS 96.3 - Top Gun Alamo 2019 Final Defense

In this final part from the 2019 Alamo Big Game at Top Gun Paintball, we're defending the Alamo itself. We start off outside, but are limited in how far we can push. After getting forced back from the front, we hold the outside to the right for a bit, before finally being pushed back in the walls. We held the walls for some time, but a final big push broke through to end the game. The total tim...

A short game from Friday 8/16 at Long Live Paintball, but not one of mine. I sat out a round for a water break and rest, because wow it got hot. So I lent my mask and camera to a newer player, one of the first group that showed up earlier in the day. They mostly hadn't played before, but that brought it all day long. The guy in the red shirt that I pointed out in 97.1 was also in this group. I ...

It's summer, so some local fields are open on Fridays. Ended up with a solid crowd at Long Live Paintball on 8/16/19. Early games are elimination, later ones are respawn - reach the opposing end of the field to win. It was hot and most of the players were newer, so I wasn't playing super aggressive. Mostly hanging out in the midfield and playing defensively or controlling a zone. Had a really g...

Love tippmanns. I might get a 98 and try to make it a pump. My idea is to mod the feed neck to use 10 round tubes (running along the marker at maybe a 10*-15* rise), and utilize the quick detach nature of the feedneck to be able to hand feed first strikes. I might even rig up a stock, and run some piping to it from the tombstone to a little quick swap co2 adapter for some 12g co2 action.

Great video! I just dug my PGP out of storage after 20 years...bought it when I was 16 in 1995 for $20 and a weed hookup (ah, 90s outlaw ball) and I've had it ever since. The owner had inherited from his older brother, who had in turn bought it used from a field that was upgrading to constant-air rentals so who knows how old it is. It came with the rubber PMI grips, I added a quick-change and modified two-stage bolt, so it sounds like I'm about halfway there.

I love your reason, very logic. Honestly it's very reasonable. To play with first-strike u need 800-1500 usd maybe. It's very expensive. But i hope you, will playing magfed someday !. I think every people thingking about it, i mean money, investment, future or something else. I hope someday, 1000 or 4000 usd will be easy for everyone.

Hello. I just picked up an ICD lever changer and already have my pistol pretty much built. However, I bought a bunch of crossman 12 grams and the lever changer does not have enough throw to pierce the cartridge. The pin does not look too beat up but would you know where to get a replacement pin for these? I am guessing cartridges are different dimensions which is hooefully the issue. I have also been playing with the idea of modifying the ICD to accept a CCI piercer assembly. Any ideas or thoughts?

The huge flaw in this is that your only argument really boils down to "people are unlikely not to use their equipment to the max" which is simply not true in my experience. Almost everyone I know plays 10bps semi in rec ball, they aren't playing uncapped ramping even if they can many of these guns can shoot well over 20bps. Thing is I can take my shoebox, and set it to 5 bps if I want, or I can set it to NXL ramping. There is no reason I should have to own a ton of equipment so that I can vary my equipment based on the group composition it would be thousands to own a good stock gun, a good open class pump gun, a good mechanical gun and a good electro when I can just set my ROF on an electro to whatever is appropriate before the game. After all at least at my local field they split experienced players in order to even the teams out. Refs should proactively balance teams and like most fields my local field doesn't allow bunkering unless it is only experienced players on the field. I get what you are going for, and I don't think people should overshoot, or bonus ball or be a jerk in general, but I just won't do those things, and unless you are ramping it is really easy to control your fire rate. It isn't like I can adjust the settings on my Shoebox in the middle of the game, I just set it to whatever is appropriate (which tends to come out to 5.5 BPS or 10.5 BPS semi). If I really want to rain paint I grab my Shocker Turbo (8 bps ramp with a single trigger) but, there is a time and a place for everything.

Even though this is way old, I'm gonna counterpoint this....with a very old example. :-) Many many...manymanymanymanymany years ago, I used to play Laser Tag, with commercial equipment(this was the mid 2000's so bear with if I lack specifics) But the place that rented the gear had pretty reliable stuff: it was a vest/gun combo, with two sensors or the front and back, one on the gun, and two on the shoulders. Durable, versatile, and a nice easy break in point for anyone doing that kind of thing. In Philly, another place used the same kind of equipment, but was full on competition/tourney mode. The players there maximized their effectiveness through body position. They didn't bother with cover or control...they'd just sprint and duel everyone. They'd crane the gun upside down in a two handed grip, while twisting their torso to fine tune the shot angle. This would largely leave nothing but the gun as a target, since the raised arms blocked the shoulder sensors, and the twist set the front and back sensors out of alignment for anyone to register a hit on. Not illegal, but not something you want to do to a bunch of mallrats hanging out on a weekend. Well, this merry little group of about 5-7 players would show up every once in a while, and stomp all over everyone in sight. I wonder sometimes if THIS was the origin of that lovely phrase, "git gud" since they said nothing they were doing was illegal, and people should just play better if they don't want to get shot. Again, they didn't do anything illegal, but because of their antics, the regular people would just stop playing for the night until they left. That left the equivalent of the walk-on crowd, who'd get stomped into the dirt, leave the venue and never come back. Well, the venue was laser-tag and arcade...in a mall....when malls were still popular, and had more than just clothing shops in them. Eventually the owners had to close the place: they were caught in a vicious cycle: they couldn't turn down the money of these elites, cause they needed the business....but they also couldn't encourage people to play WITH them, so when they showed up, most just called it a night and went to do something else. Now, that's just a skill-based example of things. When you add in a tech-edge, especially one that's kind of on the honor system, those walk ons who get stomped are gonna do the exact same thing, even IF the field marshalls parcel out the good and the bad players evenly. Getting stomped is no fun, regardless of whether it's happening to you or someone else. I've been out of Paintball for a while now, but I'm starting to get the itch to go back in. If I do though, it's gonna be a Magfed TMC or a Cronus or something like that. I got out of paintball cause I didn't really like the 1,000 round hoppers and 400 round loaders running on a tank of Nitrogen(hey, I'm old :-) ) that basically let someone carry 4,000 balls out every game, and just dump paint like it was a fire hose. Speedball's a different style of game, and in that venue, that kind of thing is fine. But Rec should be about having fun together. I do think that Darwin does make one mistake, in that he should be advising players who have experience, to work WITH newer players, and help them have a good time. It doesn't have to be every time you go Rec, but taking 1-3 players under your wing, giving them the confidence to trade paint and be willing to take the hit in good fun, will do a lot more for you and the field you're at, than trying to tweak settings on your gear, to bring DOWN your level of play so you're just SLIGHTLY better than most of your competition.
