I agree with you on Bells of Notre Dame and Out There. In God Help the Outcasts the lyrics were a little off for me. Schwartz tends to write lyrics that don't flow as smoothly as Ashman or the other lyricists. And Tony Jay's singing didn't quite hit the mark in Hellfire. Though Hunchback's soundtrack was one of the most haunting and memorable soundtracks in the history of animation.
Turtle Island LAC yeah, I definitely prefer the stage version of Hellfire just a bit more to the movie, but what truly makes each song memorable is that the whole movie flows beautifully in terms of sound and contrast between each of the characters’ songs and musical motifs
I get chills everytime I hear Bells of Notre Dame and Hellfire. I really don't agree that Hunchback's music isn't memorable, I would argue it's one of Disney's most moving scores.
You lost me at “music I don’t find particularly compelling or memorable”. Hunchback is HANDS DOWN the most beautiful and sophisticated scores in the entire catalogue.
So I can't have my own opinion? Note how I don't blatantly say the music _isn't_ compelling or memorable... I say _I_ don't find it to be, personally. You don't have to agree with me - but you seem very dismissive of other's opinions.
@Cold NBother I also think Hunchback should be higher (personally, it would be among my top 3), but it's HIS opinion. He's not questioning those like us who like it, he's allowed to have his preferences.
Of course he's allowed his opinion. And my opinion is that if one describes Hunchback's music as "not compelling or memorable," we are so diametrically opposed on what makes memorable music that the rest of his opinion is not worth hearing.
The only hunchback song I can recall is "God bless the Outcasts." which I only remember because I thought it was pretty bold of Disney to have a character sing a prayer to Jesus.
@@Melissa-wx4lu "The Bells of Notre DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEE"? "Hellfire"?, "Heaven's light"? Even the comedy songs like "Feast of Fools" and "Court of Miracles" slap so fucking hard! Damn think I might watch it tonight...Seriously think Hunchback has the best overall music and score of all Disney movies and will fight you for it! =P
@@lProN00bl None of them ring a bell (no pun) But I've only seen the movie like twice not long after it came out. I had just finished reading the book which might be why I didn't like the movie. I just didn't like it. I think it would have been better without the gargoyles.
@@Melissa-wx4lu The gargoyles ruin it but if an element can actually be removed and not negatively impact the movie or have it make no sense, it's not a dealbreaker for me. I think Lindsey Ellis video on it provided a good argument for some of the changes.
Hunchback at the end of the list with "music... not particularly compelling or memorable"? From the movie that gave us Bells of Notre Dame, Out There, Topsy Turvy, Heaven's Light, Hell's Fire, God Help the Outcasts? Father forgive them for they know not what they do
@@DaveLeeDownUnder I think the best part about you getting roasted in all these comments, and you being so defensive, is that you look up ANY list on villain songs, Disney songs, etc, you're ALWAYS going to find Hellfire in top 3, and Hunchback in the top 5 in terms of music. THAT is how bad your "opinion" is, in that you're the only one with it, while all other sources, and apparently all of your viewers, oppose you. Sucks to suck. And your need to go through the comments and like as many as you can that say "well you're wrong but it's your opinion", shows how desperate you were a year ago to avoid getting roasted so much, that you clung onto comments like that. Pathetic.
CrackingCody I don’t think his opinion is bad by any means. It’s an opinion so by definition, it can’t be good or bad (that part is subjective and we can’t really decide that it is bad as a fact). A better term would probably be unpopular opinion as I don’t think many people do agree with the guy. However, I most certainly agree that he is being way too defensive about this! I’ve looked through some other comment threads of people expressing their passion for Hunchback’s music (stuff like “it’s hands down some of the best music” and stuff along those lines) and he has been responding with “So I’m not allowed to have an opinion?” It just comes off as unprofessional and I don’t like it. I’m glad you pointed his defensiveness out.
I disagree with pretty much your intire list, but everyone has different preferences. Also hunchback might actually be one of my favorite disney movies plus i am absolutely in love with the soundtrack. Still has flaws though, but i respect your list.
This by far is the best era of Disney movies but it’s just so hard to rank: 1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Aladdin 3. The Lion King 4. Tarzan 5. Beauty and the Beast 6. Hercules 7. The Little Mermaid 8. Mulan 9. Pocahontas 10. The Rescuers Down Under
Me personally: 10. Rescuers Down Under 9. Pocahontas 8. Mulan 7. Hercules 6. Tarzan 5. Beauty and the Beast 4. Lion King 3. Little Mermaid 2. Hunchback 1. Aladdin
1. Aladdin • 1000000000000% 2. Beauty And The Beast • 99% 3. Mulan • 98% 4. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame • 93% 5. The Little Mermaid • 90% 6. Hercules • 86% 7. The Lion King • 84% 8. Pocahontas • 79% 9. Tarzan • 72% 10. The Rescuers Down Under • 43%
It's weird that this list completely changed when I get older. Little mermaid & Hercules were my fav when I was a kid. However, I'm absolutely in love with Beauty & The beast and Hunchback now.
1. The little mermaid- This was my favorite movie growing up and it became the reason for my obsession with mermaid aesthetic. 2. Aladdin- Robin Williams always made me laugh with this movie and I hold this movie in my heart after his passing 3. Beauty and the Beast- The songs and the characters were just so iconic and I still sing the soundtrack to this day 4. The lion king- I still remember watching this and being blown away with everything I saw. Plus it's my husband's favorite movie 5. Hercules- Hades is my favorite villain and he only gets more hilarious as I get older 6. Hunchback of Notre dame- This movie only got darker for me as I got older now fully aware of Christianity's history and the discrimination of the Gypsy people plus Frollo will always be terrifying because of the fact that people like this actually exist 7. Mulan- Mulan was an epic film to me as a kid and it kinda helped me find my identity as a woman 8. Tarzan- I thought this movie was fun as a kid. That scene with him swinging through the trees will always be my favorite part 9. Pocahontas- While I loved this movie as a kid it doesn't really grab me as much as an adult. Maybe it's just the history surrounding it. 10. Rescuers down under- Honestly I agree with you on it. It did have memorable animation but the story didn't grab me as much and kinda makes it dull compared to the other films of the Disney renaissance
My Ranking 1. Hunchback 2. Aladdin 3. Lion King 4. The Little Mermaid 5. Beauty and The Beast 6. Hercules 7. Pocahontas 8. Mulan 9. Tarzan 10. Rescuers Down Under
Hunchback deserves more recognition for being more gothic than Disney is used to. I know that's kind of the reason people hated it at the time, but you gotta appreciate how they took such an adult piece of classic literature and made it into something the whole family can appreciate. Sure there's the distraction of the gargoyles (being sort of the Genie/Mushu figureheads), and they really did go out of their way to sugarcoat a Shakesperian tragedy, but it's Disney, that's kind of their thing. Overall, I think it's definitely the best "dark" animated film ever made. And that's saying a lot given that I've seen Toy Story 3. I would've placed Pocahontas much farther down on the list, not for it's misdepiction of Native cultures, but because of it's weak storytelling. It takes the true, emotionally-jaring story of a chief's daughter who died of an Old-World disease, and turns it into a bland, boring Romeo and Juliet knockoff. They could've done so much more with that film.
Apparently in most of the videos released by Disney when it comes to tributes, the parks, video montages and other stuff, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Rescuers Down Under mainly the former are among the Renaissance films that are barely used in any media. Their are a few exceptions where they've been utilized but not as often compared to the other Renaissance films, they've just became the black sheep of the Renaissance films. As for Pocahontas, I agree it's definitely one of the weakest Renaissance films and aside from the songs and the animal sidekicks their wasn't anything that I liked on this movie, the protagonist was meh, and the story and especially the film's villain were very weak. What's funny is that Jeffrey Katzenberg (before he left Disney) had more confidence with Pocahontas being more successful than The Lion King although the Irony is the latter film did much better not only financially but critically.
@@smokeyanimate3564 I mean, besides in this comment section...its kind of not ? I rlly find that not many people think of it when they think Disney movies, and at one point I didnt either. Rescuers and Hunchback are often pushed aside, I find. Only reason people are talking so much about it in the comments section is because they disagree w the ytbers opinion! It's the kind of movie you learn to appreciate when you get older, I've found (not saying you're young, just have found several people who think the same) But while I was just sharing my point of view, yours is also valid ^^!!
My ranking 10) The Rescuers Down Under 9) The Hunchback of Notre Dame 8) Pocahontas 7) Hércules 6) Mulan 5) Beauty and the Beast 4) The Little Mermaid 3) Aladdin 2) The Lion King 1) Tarzan
This is the only renaissance ranking I've seen that hasn't ranked Pocahontas at #10 or #9. Glad to see you at least appreciate the beauty and heart of it :)
Aside from the historical aspect, I think that the movie is trying way too hard to be dramatic and there's a real lack of humor. I can't take it seriously as a Disney film or a drama film because it's not self aware. That being said, the colors look great, some of the songs are pretty good, and I'd rather watch it than Tarzan or Rescuers...but better than Hunchback and Mulan? HELL NO.
A J I’m gonna disagree. The “historical” aspect is a joke, and they designed Pocahontas after East Asian Women...because apparently Powhatan Women “weren’t pretty enough” (...what???). And several first nation cultures have (rightfully) complained about the visual portrayal (red skin, instead of brown. Brown with reddish undertones still looks different...but they went with artwork with racist undertones for their references). But the FILM is visually stunning. And while I like the music...I’m wondering how much was actually a true blend of Powhatan Music Traditions with Western Traditions vs...”sounds native-ish” appropriation. And while it’s not a Comedic Film, the humor is very much there, and Wiggins still has The Best meta joke (and Ratcliffe has one of the best villain songs of all time.)
Pocahontas is among my favorites and I would but it even higher! I think “objective” takes where articles are written for general sites then to be more uniform in ranking and personal lists have more variation.
Tough but I would have to say: 1. Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Beauty and the Beast 3. The Lion King 4. The little Mermaid 5. Tarzan 6. Mulan 7. Pocahontas 8. Hercules 9. Rescuers Down Under 10. Aladdin

I find it really difficult to rank The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. They are all so, so good, reaching the pinnacle of Disney animation. All the Renaissance films are enjoyable, but those four make up a clear top tier, in my opinion.
I agree. Those four are my top four favorites of the Renaissance. Here’s how I would rank them: 1. “The Little Mermaid” 2. “Aladdin” 3. “Beauty and the Beast” 4. “The Lion King”

We have very similar opinions. _The Lion King_ is my favorite, while _Aladdin_ and _The Little Mermaid_ come up as the next two I like most. It's hard to pick for me between _Hercules,_ _Mulan,_ and _Tarzan._ _Hercules_ is the most fun for me to watch, _Mulan_ has the best story, while _Tarzan_ is the most cohesive film. I also think _Beauty and the Beast_ is a tad overrated, but it is about as good as _Hercules,_ _Mulan,_ and _Tarzan._ _The Hunchback of Notre Dame_ is good but the least enjoyable other than _Pocahontas,_ which I actively dislike.
Your take on Mulan is just... *chefs kiss.* I have such trouble explaining why it’s not one of my favorites. Now I’m just going to send people the link to this video.

My Favourite Disney Animated Movies Are. Mulan. Tarzan. Aladdin. Hercules. The Rescuers Down Under. The Little Mermaid. Beauty And The Beast. Pocahontas. The Hunchback Of Notre Dame And Finally Disney's The Lion King. Thanks Dave Lee Down Under Mate. X
Good list, Dave! Here’s my personal ranking: 10. Hercules 9. Pocahontas 8. Mulan 7. Tarzan 6. The Rescuers Down Under 5. The Lion King 4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 3. Aladdin 2. The Little Mermaid 1. Beauty and the Beast
Interesting list! Here's how mine goes: 1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This movie is part of my personal "Big Four" of Disney animation (the others being Alice in Wonderland, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Cinderella). Why four? It really isn't because I think 4's a good number or anything. I just noticed that these 4 in particular mean more to me than the rest of the WDAS canon. Does Hunchback have problems? Oh, yes. It's tonally bipolar, clumsily trying to make the story work within the Disney formula Mermaid spearheaded. But you know what? When it's good, it's spectacular. This film has arguably the best cinematography of the canon (if not, at least sharing a top 3 slot with Sleeping Beauty and Rescuers Down Under, more on the latter later). I know Dave doesn't think much of the songs, but I find them rich and compelling. They're definitely more Broadway in how tightly they're woven into the plot than the more hummable tunes from other films that you can pluck out of their stories and still have them make sense in isolation. But I find them very sophisticated, and I think this is Alan Menken's strongest score. The word "epic" gets thrown around a lot nowadays, but Hunchback is the textbook definition of the word. 2. Beauty and the Beast - Objectively, this is the best film in the renaissance. A perfect blend of romance, comedy, drama, and music that shows Disney firing on all cylinders. There's not much I can say about this film that others haven't already said. The songs advance the story and are all memorable, the characters are charming, and there's an air of sophistication about the whole thing. People like to nitpick at certain plot mechanics, but I feel it's the most air-tight story Disney's done and was their best screenplay until Zootopia came along. The only nitpick I can personally find is with the animation of the extras (and even Belle in certain shots), but that's because the film was on a time crunch after wasting so much time on a previous discarded take on the story. Otherwise, this film encapsulates what Disney's all about. 3. Aladdin - Yes, Robin Williams' Genie is amazing and is possibly the greatest Disney sidekick ever (though Jaq and Gus are my personal favorites). But Aladdin has more to offer than just his hilarious antics. The film has a zaniness all its own with a spirited pace and bright tone (the surviving Nine Old Men actually thought the movie was sensory overload and was too bonkers). Aladdin and Jasmine are likable leads that have distinctive personalities and aren't just ciphers being overshadowed by the supporting cast. And what a supporting cast. Besides Genie, Jonathan Freeman's Jafar is deliciously campy and over the top, and while people's mileage may vary on Gilbert Gottfried's Iago, I thought his sarcasm was a nice offset to the more perky humor the rest of the film has. Exciting action and with maybe the most fun songs to sing along to, Aladdin's WDAS's version of a summer popcorn blockbuster. 4. The Little Mermaid - The movie the rest of the renaissance patterned its story structure from (save for Rescuers Down Under since that production overlapped with this one). What I find strange is The Little Mermaid is super popular and has a ton of fans, but most people I know don't even place it in their top 10 Disney films list (I do). Yes, Disney would find ways to come up with more fleshed out romance (Beauty and the Beast), more intense action (Aladdin), more complex themes (Hunchback), but Mermaid has a bubbly (pun unintended) feel to it that makes it easy to rewatch and enjoy on a whim. Hunchback may be favorite Menken score, and Aladdin has the most karaoke-friendly songs, but Mermaid's songs are probably the Menken ones I listen to the most. There's a cheerfulness to them and to the characters that just makes this such a joy to watch. 5. Pocahontas - All right, unpopular opinion time. When Pocahontas and The Lion King's productions overlapped and split the WDAS team up, Pocahontas was treated as the "A" picture while Lion King was the "B." I gotta say I kinda agree with that. Sure, Pocahontas is preachy and unsubtle with its message, and the sidekicks are at odds with the more mature story (though, in my opinion, not as glaringly as in Hunchback and Mulan). But this has possibly the most adult romance in the Disney canon, and it's filled with so many astonishing sequences of true beauty and scope. Majestic would be the word I would use to describe both this film's art direction and its music. The Romeo and Juliet story has been done many times, but I have to admit this is my favorite spin on it. 6. Tarzan - I feel this movie is sorely underrated. Take the upbeat tone of Mermaid, the action of Aladdin, and the family drama of Lion King, and you've got Tarzan. Yes, it's the Disney formula all over again, but it's done so well. The deep canvas process makes for some stunning camera movement that really heightens the action. I understand a lot of people finding Rosie O'Donnell's Terk annoying, but I thought she fit well and didn't overstay her welcome. Phil Collins' songs are powerful, giving the movie a distinctive vibe from the rest of the renaissance. There's a red-blooded, spirited drive to it that always keeps it engrossing, and there's a ton of heart to the story and the characters' relationships to each other. 7. The Lion King - So hear me out. I actually love The Lion King. The scope of this is like a David Lean film at times, and the Hametlesque drama is riveting. What keeps it from being higher on my list is I feel like young Simba is rather obnoxious to witness. I know that's kind of the point, but even when Ariel made stupid choices she had to learn from, she wasn't this insufferable. Also, the pop culture humor in this movie is odd. It worked in Aladdin because you get the sense that the Genie has experienced both the past and future and pulls from everything. But these are animals in Africa, and suddenly they're quoting In the Heat of the Night and singing "It's a Small World." It feels like it's aiming harder to please a wider audience, and that's fine. At least it's stunningly directed and with killer songs and score. 8. Hercules - If The Lion King felt like it trying to be a little too commercial, Hercules charges forward gleefully towards that moniker. Imagine if Richard Donner's Superman were directed by the Genie, and Hercules is what you get. And that's not a bad thing. Herc himself may not have much of a personality, but he's still likable, and the rest of the cast features some top notch talent all making sure their characters are memorable. James Woods' Hades and Susan Egan's Meg are particular standouts. I absolutely love Menken's work on this movie, and while I hold his partnership with Stephen Schwartz near and dear, I agree with Dave that David Zippel is the lyricist who comes closest to the work of Howard Ashman. Yeah, the movie needs to slow down and breathe more at times, but the pop culture references make sense here since they're acting as a parallel to modern society, and it's funny, to boot. 9. Mulan - I really enjoy Mulan, but like Hunchback, it feels like its wings are kind of clipped in order to conform to a G-rated Disney musical. What's more, it's only half-heartedly attempting to be a musical. The songs are all good ("Reflection" is actually in my top 5 Disney song list), but they feel like an after thought rather than something intrinsically woven into the narrative. The humor in this movie is actually hilarious at times, but it feels at odds with the dramatic stakes. The standout scene is "Mulan's decision," which lets the material simmer and breathe and is ripe with atmosphere. I hope the live-action remake taps into this tone. 10. The Rescuers Down Under - This may be my least favorite of the era, but it's still a solid movie. John Candy's a hoot, and Cody's a decent human lead who comes across as a real kid rather than a plot device. Bernard and Bianca are charming as always, but while this movie has better pacing than the original, it lacks that movie's heart. What make it special is its cinematography which is absolutely breathtaking with some of the most ambitious shots the studio's ever attempted. I just wish it were used on a stronger story, but then that's what Hunchback's for.

Everyone I speak to LOVES Mulan. I hear references to Mulan more than any of these movies. Growing up I was all about the Little Mermaid but realized that actually the movie I kept going back to was Mulan and to see it ranked under Pocahontas and Hercules makes me sad.
Love this video and your arguments Dave (even when I don't agree)! For me: 10) Rescuers Down Under: Fun movie, but the scenes with Bernard and Bianca and Cody feel almost like two different plots. The animation and the intro are great, and there's some other good moments scattered throughout, but overall I think it's just average. 9) Pocahontas : Some things, like the music, the score and the themes, are admirable; but the sum of its parts results into a "just good" film for me. With a more polished script or directing, it could have been another masterpiece. 8) Mulan: I think pretty much the same about it that you Dave. It has all the right ingredients and a badass female lead, but something is missing to make it a favourite for me. 7) Hercules: Technically Mulan is a stronger movie, but I enjoy Hercules a bit more due to the satirical, jarring storytelling choices they make, even with its flaws. 6) Aladdin: Great comedy, consistent pace, wonderful soundtrack, and I love the protagonist's arc, as well as the moral of the story. However, I'm not a fan of its animation style...obviously its good and it fits the film's tone, but I prefer the more realistic style Disney uses in films such as "Beauty and the Beast" or "The Lion King". 5) Beauty and the Beast: Great music, amazing animation, well-rounded characters, and perfectly balanced pacing and tone, never too dark, never too whimsical. It's not higher on my list by no faults of its own, but simply because I'm not particularly drawn to romance films. Nevertheless, if I want to watch one, I expect one as sweet and moving as this one. 4) Tarzan: Beauty and the Beast is a stronger film, but I connect more with Tarzan for some reason (maybe because I'm a nature, adventure lover). I am really drawn to Tarzan's dilemma of figuring out to which species he belongs to, plus I love Phil Collins soundtrack and the lush animation and backgrounds. 3) The Lion King: I remember being obsessed with this film as a kid (to the point that my dad drew a beautiful mosaic of Mufasa and Simba on my wall), and nowadays I am still swept by this story. Everything about The Lion King is majestic (fittingly). Some of its humour can be a bit childish for me now, but it's still grand in every sense. 2) The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Here I disagree. I know it has a tone-problem, but "Hunchback's" good things are epic enough to compensate for its flaws. I admire the themes, the musical choice, the setting, the characters, the climax, etc. Even as a child I remember loving it (maybe I was a weird kid?). 1) The Little Mermaid: My opinion may be a bit biased because of nostalgia, or because I'm a marine biology nerd...but even without that, The Little Mermaid is just damn charming! Super catchy songs, beautiful animation, lovable characters, a great (if impulsive) female lead character, a story that always hooks me (no pun intended) and a message that I've always appreciated deeply: to have the courage to be yourself and chase your dreams.
Hunchback and Batb are by far the best of the bunch. Hunchback’s music is INCREDIBLE and beautiful. Hunchback is terribly underrated, and if Disney actually puts in effort for the live action adaptation, it could seriously be Oscar nom worthy. Pocahontas for me is the worst despite the beautiful songs because of how it severely romanticizes Pocahontas’ tragic history and it deliberately casts the white characters as “spunky explorers” instead of “racist assholes committing genocide.”
couldn't agree with you more over Hunchback, a true underrated Disney masterpiece, I anticipate the live action however with excitement but also uncertainty
Isaiah Stoy Absolutely. Hunchback has incredibly beautiful art and music and a dark, mature, and epic storyline that appeals to humanity and fighting against injustice and oppression. I love lion king too but it’s not quite as grand as batb or hond for me, those movies are works of art whose themes speak to me on a personal level

My ranking: 10.The Rescuers Down under 9. Beauty and the Beast 8.The Hunchback of Norte Dame 7. Pocahontas 6. Hercules 5. Tarzan 4. Aladdin 3. Mulan 2. The little Mermaid 1. Lion King
Hell yeah! This was a nicely put together list. "The Lion King" is my favorite movie from this era of Disney animation, as well as my favorite movie period.
it's the best one dude. From the intro with Simba being displayed to the kingdom and the sun, to the villain who was a true force to be reckoned with, to Simba's come tuppence and his decision to go back home after embracing his father's spirit! man so much to love about that film.
My ranking: 10. Pocahontas: Colours of the Wind and the animation were beautiful, the movie itself just came off as boring and predictable and the romance wasn't engaging and Ratcliff was stupid. 9. Hercules: just a weak movie storywise and a blatant attempt at creating the popculture referencing nature of Aladdin. Hades was awesome, though, and a couple of the songs rock. 8. Tarzan: yeah, I'm torn on this, because the animation is breathtaking and the songs are good. I think that Clayton is kind of generic, but his attack on Tarzan's family and the following fight with him made him tolerable. 7. Rescuers D.O.: Only because it's a sequel, but an awesome criminally underrated one with an enjoyably menacing villain and one of if not my favorite character animation (the eagle) and grand animation in general. 6. The Little Mermaid: it's immensely enjoyable, but I never got fully into it. Ursula's climactic defeat is still epic and Pat Carroll does an awesome job as her enjoyably evil voice. The songs are catchy as hell, but not among my favs from this period. 5. Mulan: my biggest nostalgia trip, but I must be honest and say other movies made a bigger impact on me. A couple of the songs may be weak, but "I'll Make a Man out of You" and "Reflection" are sooo gooood! The huns' stampede is one of my favorite scenes in any Disney movie. 4. Aladdin: I love this movie and is has the most infectious songs and the most colourful animation in the Disney renaissance, but Robin Williams IS what makes this so good and without him in it I would have ranked it lower on my list. 3. Beauty & the Beast: I never get tired of watching it, because of the beautiful love story between very human characters. Gaston is a well written manipulative villain who already is in power in his village and uses it to manipulate the townsfolk into attacking Beast. And the ballroom scene and the climax on top of the castle are so touching. Some of the songs, I must admit, I find overrated, but the title track, "Belle" and "Gaston" are among the most iconic songs in the Disney catalog. 2. The Lion King: sometimes I think it's overrated and it's not a personal fav, but when I watch it I realize why it is so beloved. Everything works in one way or another, the songs have a purpose in the story, the animation is grand especially in the backgrounds. The Circle of Life is THE most iconic opening of any movie, maybe, and is setting up the gigantic scale and scope of what to come. The relationship between Mufasa and Simba makes the death scene truly devastating in the intense stampede scene. The romance was kind of forced and a little disturbing when you think about it, but so many scenes in TLK are just too powerful and iconic to ignore. 1. Hunchback: yeah, it has some jarring tonal problems, but when it controls its tone it delivers many powerful punches. Menken's best music score, period, the animation is gigantic and FROLLO is a standout among the Disney villains by how real he is and his embodiment of everything "forbidden" in Disney. And IMO, The Bells of Notre Dame rivals Circle of Life as the best opening number simply because how it progresses the story. Hellfire, the best villain song in a movie, not just Disney, but movie in general. Maybe not very "Disney" and not a perfect movie, but I really loved how Disney stepped out of their comfort zone and made a movie addressing some very mature subject matters.
I wouldn't say Radcliffee was stupid per say. What makes you say that? I love his 'mine, mine, mine' scene. I think he embodies greedy well and dramatically. Hercules i enjoyed. I think it had a good mentor in Phill. I will need to rewatch it before giving my final judgement. I love Hunchback! and i will defo back you on putting it no 1 though i think lion king has a defo argument for that spot as well. But yes! the hunchback was incredibly moving. That scene when Quasi is made a fool off is heartbreaking and his ability to overcome FROLLO at the end is an arch that was well delivered. Furthermore, the guy who loves going 'I'm free i'm free' only to be trapped again cracks me up every time.
1. Aladdin/ Lion King 2. Aladdin/ Lion King (literally impossible for me to choose) 3. The Little Mermaid 4. Hunchback 5. Beauty and the Beast 6. Tarzan 7. Hercules 8. Mulan 9. Pocahontas 10. Rescuers Down Under
Ranking Mulan that low would cause a riot in my school grade. “I’ll make a man out of you” was such a popular song. Everyone new every lyric to that song
1. Beauty and the Beast 2. Aladdin 3. Hunchback of Notre Dame 4. Little Mermaid 5. Lion King 6. Mulan 7. Tarzan 8. Hercules (Music wise, this is one of the best, but the story was rushed and under developed) 9. Pocahontas 10. Rescuers Down Under
Here's my take. Thanks for the video!! 1. The Lion King 2. Beauty & the Beast 3. The Little Mermaid 4. Aladdin 5. Tarzan 6. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 7. Mulan 8. Hercules 9. Pocahontas 10. Rescuers Down Under (never seen it)
I feel like the Rescuers Down Under was the perfect bridge from the Dark Age to the Renaissance. You can still see the cracks that formed in the Dark Age, but they attempt to fill those gaps with the style the Renaissance would run with.
Nice list. My favourite Disney Era. Honestly for me with the exception of The Rescuers Down Under ( still love it but actually prefer the first Rescuers and I kind think of this as belonging more to the previous era) they're all 5 star movies! My list: 10. The Rescuers Down Under 9. Hercules 8. Pocahontas 7. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 6. Mulan 5. The Little Mermaid 4. Beauty and the Beast 3. Aladdin 2. Tarzan 1. THE LION KING (literally one of my fave movies of all time!! I love it so much)
I’d honestly love to see your ranking of the Golden Age, Wartime Era, the Dark Age, and the Post-Renaissance Era. Your editing style makes your rankings fun to watch!
I'd go like this every time: 10- Pocahontas 9- Rescuers Down Under 8- Tarzan 7- Hercules 6- Mulan 5- Aladdin 4- Little Mermaid 3- Hunchback 2- Beauty and the Beast 1- Lion King
1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Mulan 3. The Little Mermaid 4. Pocahontas 5. Hercules 6. Aladdin 7. Tarzan 8. The Lion King 9. Beauty and the Beast 10. Rescuers Down Under I'm more concerned with the music and holding interest/watchability (avoiding that 3rd act lull)
I’d love for you to do a ranking of the dark era too. Some of my favorites are from then. Black Cauldron (we NEED a Blu-ray!), Rescuers, The Great Mouse Detective, and Robin Hood
My list goes like this; 10) Pocahontas- good music doesn't save this one imo. The Disney equivalent of Thumbelina for unlikeable characters. 9) Rescuers Down Under- charming for what it is but hasn't made any sort of impression on me. 8) Hercules- I just didn't make a connection with this one either. Danny Devito is amazing and I love Hades but they aren't enough to keep this one afloat for me since I didn't actually like the main characters. 7) Tarzan- it's beautiful but needed to be less tonally dissonant. Terk was a mistake. 6) Mulan- again the tonal dissonance ruins this one for me. It could have done with the more serious tone throughout as the more serious war scenes were fantastic. 5) Hunchback- this has the most beautiful music besides Beauty and the Beast but the tonal whiplash this film gives me prevents this from being a masterpiece in my opinion. Should have been number 1 and the fact it isn't is really disappointing. 4) Aladdin- we are getting into childhood favourites now. I would always watch either this or The Little Mermaid. On more recent viewings it doesn't quite hold up imo. The characters are all extremely likeable and the songs are very catchy, but I do feel like Robin Williams props up the whole film. 3) The Little Mermaid. Very close to a perfect film; the songs are perfect, the animation is stunning, the tone is consistent. Ursula is my second favourite Renaissance villain and it is just such a polished film. The only thing I could critique is the slightly flat romance. 2) The Lion King. Stunning animation, gorgeous story, AMAZING score. Nearly faultess (perhaps some of the pop cultural references could have been toned down but they aren't enough to date it unlike with Aladdin and particularly Hercules). However I could only give it the top spot to one film. 1) Beauty and the Beast. My favourite Disney romance (no, I don't believe Stockholm syndrome is correct. I don't have time to go into that but watch Lindsay Ellis talk about the issue), and most airtight story. The animation is gorgeous and it feels like the most universal Disney film. It is just absolute perfection in my opinion and should have won best picture that year. This is *the* Disney film imo and one of my favourite films of all time. Also the memes that come from this one are just sublime
My ranking: 10. Tarzan 9. Rescuers down Under 8. Pocahontas 7. Hercules 6. Mulan 5. Hunchback 4. The Little Mermaid 3. Aladdin 2. The Lion King 1. Beauty and the Beast You say that The Lion King is your "lightening in a bottle" film, and I respect that, but Beauty and the Beast is MY masterpiece. I grew up with that film, and I will always regard it as the BEST animated film ever made.
This is my favorite era, hands down. Of course, nostalgia plays a huge role in that lol here’s my personal ranking 10. Pocahontas 9. Rescuers Down Under 8. Hercules 7. Tarzan 6. Mulan 5. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 4. The Little Mermaid 3. Aladdin 2. Beauty and the Beast 1. The Lion King
Here’s mine 1. The Lion King 2. Tarzan 3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 4. Mulan 5. The Little Mermaid 6. Beauty and the Beast 7. Pocahontas 8. Aladdin 9. Hercules 10. Rescuers Down Under
Best to worst. (They are all good movies in their own way) 1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Legendary soundtrack, best disney villain ever, good messages in it. All time fav disney film. 2. The lion king 3. beauty and the beast 4. hercules 5.aladdin 6.tarzan 7.mulan 8.pocahontas 9.the little mermaid 10. the rescuers down under. Don't come for me.
Kirrily Joy ikr! It could either be REALLY good or REALLY bad. I think it mostly depends on how dark they want to make it and how much of the book they are going to incorporate. Fingers crossed!
From bottom to top I'd say 10. Rescuers downunda 9. Pocahontas 8. Mulan 7. Hercules 6. Tarzan 5. Hunchback 4. Mermaid 3. Lion king 2. Beauty and the beast 1. Aladdin
For me, it would be: 10. Rescuers Down Under 9. Tarzan 8. Hercules 7. Mulan 6. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame 5. Pocahontas 4. The Lion King 3. Aladdin 2. The Little Mermaid 1. Beauty and the Beast
10. Tarzan (forgettable) 9. Hercules (tonal mismatch) 8. Pocahontas (good, but why?) 7. The Rescuers Down Under (amazing sequel) 6. Mulan (I'll make a man out of you) 5. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Frollo, all of it) 4. Beauty and the Beast (second best classic story development) 3. The Little Mermaid (best classic story development) 2. Aladdin (Genie) 1. The Lion King (scope, circle of life, Mufasa in the sky)
I’m sad that Hunchback is at number 9, since it’s one of my favorite Disney movies, but I respect your opinion, good video otherwise 👌 Here's my list: 10. The Rescuers Down Under 9. Pocahontas 8. Hercules 7. The Little Mermaid 6. Tarzan 5. Aladdin 4. Beauty and the Beast 3. Mulan 2. Lion King 1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame I have a soft spot when it comes to Hunchback and I can see why some people don't like it as much as I do, but its just my opinion
It's just my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with it. I respect everyones opinion and we all have different ones and that is a great thing. How boring life would be if we all thought the same. I'd like to see your list in order of favourite to least favourite. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
I think hunchback should have been the best but they failed in their execution of it by having the gargoyles be so gaggy. They really take you out of the movie. And the scene where they are about hang Phebes in the romani hideout is just so upbeat for no reason. It takes away the tension even though you already know they are going to get out this just confirms it. And A Guy Like You is just so horrendous. Best Score if you entirely remove guy like you.
My rankings 10. Pocahantas 6/10 9. Mulan 7/10 8. Tarzan 8/10 7. The Lion King 9/10 6. The Rescuers Down Under 9/10 5. The Little Mermaid 9/10 4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 9/10 3. Hercules 9/10 2. Beauty and the Beast 9/10 #1. Aladdin 10/10
I'm surprised you put Hunchback so low on the list. It's really really good! The only thing that keeps it from being higher on my list is their desperate attempt to inject so much "comedy relief" instead of just letting it be dark and dramatic. I hate the gargoyles. Anyway, my list: 10. Mulan 9. Pocahontas 8. Rescuers Down Under 7. Tarzan 6. Hercules 5. The Little Mermaid 4. Aladdin 3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. Beauty and the Beast 1. The Lion King
I know opinions. But Mulan is not a 10, it has really good songs, good emotional parts, good characters, and a story about a women proving that they can do the same as men that isn’t shoving it down our throats (beauty and the beast remake) but you think what you think I just disagree
The thing about Disney, is if the movie is too dark, it simply will not get made. The gargoyles are the only reason it even saw the light of day, honestly
MY Rankings! 8. Pocahontas 7. Mulan 6. Tarzan 5. Beauty & The Beast 4. The Lion King 3. Aladdin 2. The Rescuers Down Under 1. The Little Mermaid Haven't Seen -The Hunchback Of Notre Dame -Hercules

Hmm for my list gotta be 10 Pocahontas (ugh) 9 Tarzan 8 Hercules 7 The Little Mermaid 6 Rescuers Down Under 5 Mulan 4 Lion King Honorary spot for Great Mouse Detective 3 Beauty and the beast 2 Aladdin 1 Hunchback
Never noticed how the Disney Renaissance goes through the entire 1990’s decade. If you wanna be technical, though, this period actually started as early as Great Mouse Detective (which helped establish the foundation and was the light shining at the end of the tunnel that was the Dark Age of Disney) with Oliver & Company being the first domino in the sequence.

Hunchback at 9?! 9?!?!?!
Pocahontas ABOVE Mulan?
I... have a different opinion from yours. And I respect that
I like Pocahontas more than Mulan too
Yep. Hunchback is so friggin good! It needs more love.
And Pocahontas is garbage.
@@s-nih I don't hate Pocahontas, I like it, but I think it's the worst from the renaissance era

Dave: “Hunchback’s soundtrack isn’t very memerable”
Me: “‘Bells of Norte Dame’, ‘Out There’, ‘God Help the Outcasts’, ‘Hellfire’???”
Yeah, I’m aware it’s his opinion but how can anyone say Hellfire is not memorable??
We'll have a higher ranking for hunchback. We'll get it even if we have to burn down all of Paris for it.
@@DaveLeeDownUnder nah you're not allowed coz I said so
@Cold NBother I also think Hunchback should be higher (personally, it would be among my top 3), but it's HIS opinion. He's not questioning those like us who like it, he's allowed to have his preferences.
@@mynamesjono Such a compelling argument. Lol.
Of course he's allowed his opinion. And my opinion is that if one describes Hunchback's music as "not compelling or memorable," we are so diametrically opposed on what makes memorable music that the rest of his opinion is not worth hearing.
Hunchback "With music I don't find compelling or memorable"
Now that's a bold take
*Frolo screaming “HELLFIRE”*
"With music that I particularly don't find compelling or memorable."
Some fans be like: So you have chosen death.
Hunchback at the end of the list with "music... not particularly compelling or memorable"? From the movie that gave us Bells of Notre Dame, Out There, Topsy Turvy, Heaven's Light, Hell's Fire, God Help the Outcasts? Father forgive them for they know not what they do
None of those songs (except maybe Bells of Notre Dame and Out There) are memorable or iconic to me personally.
Pathetic.
CrackingCody
I don’t think his opinion is bad by any means.
@@CrackingCody It's not "bad", more "unpopular". I love his vids, though I will concede, he can get a bit too defensive sometimes.
It's good music but not songs that I enjoy singing along to. And not very catchy. More opera than pop.
I disagree with pretty much your intire list, but everyone has different preferences. Also hunchback might actually be one of my favorite disney movies plus i am absolutely in love with the soundtrack. Still has flaws though, but i respect your list.
Indeed. Hunchback is a masterpiece.
This by far is the best era of Disney movies but it’s just so hard to rank:
1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
2. Aladdin
3. The Lion King

5. Beauty and the Beast
4. Lion King
3. Little Mermaid
2. Hunchback
1. Aladdin

It's weird that this list completely changed when I get older. Little mermaid & Hercules were my fav when I was a kid. However, I'm absolutely in love with Beauty & The beast and Hunchback now.
Hercules is still my favorite as I get older lmao
Hades is just hilarious and Meg is probably Disney's most well written character in their catalog
1. The little mermaid- This was my favorite movie growing up and it became the reason for my obsession with mermaid aesthetic.
2. Aladdin- Robin Williams always made me laugh with this movie and I hold this movie in my heart after his passing
3. Beauty and the Beast- The songs and the characters were just so iconic and I still sing the soundtrack to this day
4. The lion king- I still remember watching this and being blown away with everything I saw. Plus it's my husband's favorite movie
5. Hercules- Hades is my favorite villain and he only gets more hilarious as I get older
6. Hunchback of Notre dame- This movie only got darker for me as I got older now fully aware of Christianity's history and the discrimination of the Gypsy people plus Frollo will always be terrifying because of the fact that people like this actually exist
7. Mulan- Mulan was an epic film to me as a kid and it kinda helped me find my identity as a woman
8. Tarzan- I thought this movie was fun as a kid. That scene with him swinging through the trees will always be my favorite part
My Ranking
1. Hunchback
2. Aladdin
3. Lion King
4. The Little Mermaid
5. Beauty and The Beast
6. Hercules
7. Pocahontas
8. Mulan
9. Tarzan
It’s already overrated enough. It’s very good with awesome music but yall need to calm down
@@smokeyanimate3564 I mean, besides in this comment section...its kind of not ? I rlly find that not many people think of it when they think Disney movies, and at one point I didnt either. Agreed. Poca is my fav. It's not the best, but it's unique and beautiful in its own right.
Pocahontas has the best song out of the entire Rennaissance (Colors of the Wind), IMO.
HELL NO.
A J
I’m gonna disagree.

Almost same. I think it should have ranked second, but I find lion king even better
Naaah, is really popular.
Daouda Diop, it’s decent enough. Missed opportunity to me though

There’s no better way to describe this era than a renaissance, each and every one of these movies I love unconditionally!
I find it really difficult to rank The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. They are all so, so good, reaching the pinnacle of Disney animation. All the Renaissance films are enjoyable, but those four make up a clear top tier, in my opinion.

Hunchback is actually my favorite, but hey, opinions!

5. The Lion King
4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Finally someone doesn't like Hercules
Interesting list! Here's how mine goes:
Great list! Thanks for the extra effort.
I’m gonna be honest.
Hunchback is my favourite movie of all time.
The gargoyles and slapstick humor ruin _Hunchback_ for me. They do not fit the darkness of the story.
Hunchback was a masterpiece and I absolutely love it. It’s definitely my favorite from this era.
me too! i love that film! Judge Frolo was frickin menacing man. What an antagonist!

For me the lion king is better than beauty and the beast but other than that I completely agree with your list
This is the ICONIC Disney Movie List. I see the merchandise from these films more at the Disney parks today than I do the newer ones
For me:
10) Rescuers Down Under: Fun movie, but the scenes with Bernard and Bianca and Cody feel almost like two different plots.
Pocahontas for me is the worst despite the beautiful songs because of how it severely romanticizes Pocahontas’ tragic history and it deliberately casts the white characters as “spunky explorers” instead of “racist assholes committing genocide.”
...Except they weren't racist assholes committing genocide.
I love the movie and it’s one of my all time favorites but I do see your side.
couldn't agree with you more over Hunchback, a true underrated Disney masterpiece, I anticipate the live action however with excitement but also uncertainty
You really think hunchback is better than The Lion King?! I mean to each his own, you are right about Pocahontas though.

I haven't seen all of these so my ranking looks like this:
1) Lion King
2) Hunchback
3) Mulan
4)Little Mermaid
5) Pocahontas
6) Tarzan
Hell yeah! This was a nicely put together list. "The Lion King" is my favorite movie from this era of Disney animation, as well as my favorite movie period.
Thank you! Yes - it’s a brilliant film!!
it's the best one dude. From the intro with Simba being displayed to the kingdom and the sun, to the villain who was a true force to be reckoned with, to Simba's come tuppence and his decision to go back home after embracing his father's spirit! man so much to love about that film.
My ranking:
Great list!! Thanks for all the extra effort - I love it!
Am I the only one that didn't read all this
1. Aladdin/ Lion King
2. Aladdin/ Lion King (literally impossible for me to choose)
3. The Little Mermaid
4. Hunchback
5. Beauty and the Beast
6. Tarzan
7. Hercules
8. Mulan
9. Pocahontas
10. Rescuers Down Under
Ranking Mulan that low would cause a riot in my school grade. “I’ll make a man out of you” was such a popular song. Everyone new every lyric to that song

2. Aladdin
3. Hunchback of Notre Dame
4. Little Mermaid

8. Hercules (Music wise, this is one of the best, but the story was rushed and under developed)
9. Pocahontas
10. Rescuers Down Under
Hunchback is my favorite.
Here's my take. Thanks for the video!!
1. The Lion King
2. Beauty & the Beast
3. The Little Mermaid
4. Aladdin
5. Tarzan
6. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
7. Mulan
8. Hercules
9. Pocahontas
My list:
10. The Rescuers Down Under
9. Hercules
8. Pocahontas
7. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
6. Mulan
5. The Little Mermaid
4. Beauty and the Beast
3. Aladdin
2. Tarzan
1. THE LION KING (literally one of my fave movies of all time!! I love it so much)
Hellfire is extremely memorable because (other than being mature) actually explores the villain’s inner struggle.
I’d honestly love to see your ranking of the Golden Age, Wartime Era, the Dark Age, and the Post-Renaissance Era. Your editing style makes your rankings fun to watch!
Thank you!! I have done rankings for both Golden Age and the Revival Era already, and will get to the other eras eventually :)
I'd go like this every time:
10- Pocahontas
9- Rescuers Down Under
8- Tarzan
7- Hercules
6- Mulan
5- Aladdin
4- Little Mermaid
3- Hunchback
2- Beauty and the Beast
1- Lion King
No mulan deserves way more respect than that. I'm genuinely hurt/shocked, but its ur opinion and I understand that.
1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
2. Mulan
3. The Little Mermaid
4. Pocahontas
5. Hercules
6. Aladdin
7. Tarzan
8. The Lion King
9. Beauty and the Beast
10. Rescuers Down Under
I'm more concerned with the music and holding interest/watchability (avoiding that 3rd act lull)
I’d love for you to do a ranking of the dark era too. Some of my favorites are from then. Black Cauldron (we NEED a Blu-ray!), Rescuers, The Great Mouse Detective, and Robin Hood
Will definitely get to a Dark Age ranking soon!
My list goes like this;
10) Pocahontas- good music doesn't save this one imo.
My ranking:
10. Tarzan
9. Rescuers down Under
8. Pocahontas
7. Hercules
6. Mulan
5. Hunchback
4. The Little Mermaid
3. Aladdin
2. The Lion King
1. Beauty and the Beast
You say that The Lion King is your "lightening in a bottle" film, and I respect that, but Beauty and the Beast is MY masterpiece. I grew up with that film, and I will always regard it as the BEST animated film ever made.
This is my favorite era, hands down. Of course, nostalgia plays a huge role in that lol here’s my personal ranking
10. Pocahontas
9. Rescuers Down Under
8. Hercules
7. Tarzan
6. Mulan
5. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
4. The Little Mermaid
3. Aladdin
2. Beauty and the Beast
1. The Lion King
I think the lion king is my favorite one of the Renaissance because unlike the others, there are no humans and it’s original
Rescuers Down Under is criminally underrated. I think it should have been higher on your list.
Maybe it should have been higher on your list but shouldn't have on mine, as this reflects my own personal opinion.
Hunchback at no 8!? WHAT!? One of my absolute faves Hunback. Judge Frolo was frickin menacing man. What an antagonist!

YES FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS HUNCHBACK IS THE BEST
@@CrowJams mhm. One of Disney’s best films. I am relieved to of found someone else who actually adores this Disney flick.
Kirrily Joy me as well! It seriously blew me away when I first watched it and deserves a lot more love
@@CrowJams it does! I am looking forward to the live action remake. Hopefully they don’t stuff it up.
Kirrily Joy ikr! It could either be REALLY good or REALLY bad. I think it mostly depends on how dark they want to make it and how much of the book they are going to incorporate. Fingers crossed!
From bottom to top I'd say
10. Rescuers downunda
9. Pocahontas
8. Mulan
7. Hercules
6. Tarzan
5. Hunchback
4. Mermaid
3. Lion king
2. Beauty and the beast
1. Aladdin
For me, it would be:
10. Rescuers Down Under
9. Tarzan
8. Hercules
7. Mulan
6. The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
5. Pocahontas
4. The Lion King
3. Aladdin
2. The Little Mermaid
1. Beauty and the Beast
10. Tarzan (forgettable)
9. Hercules (tonal mismatch)
8. Pocahontas (good, but why?)
7. The Rescuers Down Under (amazing sequel)
6. Mulan (I'll make a man out of you)
5. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Frollo, all of it)
4. Beauty and the Beast (second best classic story development)
3. The Little Mermaid (best classic story development)
2. Aladdin (Genie)
1. The Lion King (scope, circle of life, Mufasa in the sky)
I’m sad that Hunchback is at number 9, since it’s one of my favorite Disney movies, but I respect your opinion, good video otherwise 👌
Here's my list:
10. The Rescuers Down Under
9. Pocahontas
8. Hercules
7. The Little Mermaid
6. Tarzan
5. Aladdin
4. Beauty and the Beast
3. Mulan
2. Lion King
1. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I have a soft spot when it comes to Hunchback and I can see why some people don't like it as much as I do, but its just my opinion
My rankings
10. Pocahantas 6/10
9. Mulan 7/10
8. Tarzan 8/10
7. The Lion King 9/10
6. The Rescuers Down Under 9/10
5. The Little Mermaid 9/10
4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 9/10
3. Hercules 9/10
2. Beauty and the Beast 9/10
#1. Aladdin 10/10
I'm surprised you put Hunchback so low on the list. It's really really good! The only thing that keeps it from being higher on my list is their desperate attempt to inject so much "comedy relief" instead of just letting it be dark and dramatic. I hate the gargoyles. Anyway, my list:
10. Mulan
9. Pocahontas
8. Rescuers Down Under
7. Tarzan
6. Hercules
5. The Little Mermaid
4. Aladdin
3. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
2. Beauty and the Beast
1. The Lion King
8. Pocahontas

The Great Mouse Detective is SO underrated! Basil and Ratigan are so enjoyable and the clocktower scenes is awesome!
I actually found the Hunchback soundtrack to be Disney's best.
