To me this song is about someone in the grips of their addictions (demons). When we are no longer free, our rainbow is trapped in the dark by the prison our demons have created for us. I loved the song when it first came out in 1983, now it has a whole new meaning to me. Dio was a musical genius and a frequent traveler of the nether realms!
