    if you want some more distinct stone bricks, i highly reccomend painting the individual bricks in different colours, like brown, yellow, blue and others, before you drybrush and such, if you do it right they get a small gradient in them which makes them look like they took stones from different regions

    I think the term you were looking for was an "overbrush." Great tutorial! ;)

    You can always use tooth picks to anchor the foam pieces while you are waiting for the PVA glue to set.

    Wyloch over at Wyloch's Armory just finished his interior to the Tomb of Horrors. You guys should get together and smush your builds together!

    Hey, if after you have dented the foam you can spray prime it or use modge podge (other varnishes are available) to give it a bit of a coating which will make PVA glue stick. Or you can use Gorilla glue (just dont overboard with it since it will foam up)

    Henson studios and puppet makers use Barge liqiud cement when they glue foam for puppets. Might be worth a try. Sets pretty quick and very durable

    This is beautifully done! Superb work!
    If only the actual Gygax module of Tomb of Horrors had so straight-forward an entrance as this! ;)

    Since the PVA glue dries in air, it will take a while to dry between two slabs of foam like this, but you can use hot glue, or various DIY adhesives like No More Nails, etc. Hot Glue is probably the most versatile, but make sure your gluegun doesn't get too hot otherwise you can still melt the foam!
    I've used a combination of the above on some of my terrain builds - downside of a lot of the no more nails type adhesives is that they dry hard, and can become brittle as there's no flex in them, but there can be in the foam.

    Cool build again. It's ur creation but I think a light black wash across all the stone would really make it pop.

    Wow this project was awesome! I really like the way the foam parts and 3d printed bits mesh together to make a believable set piece. Any player would be lucky to play on a map this well made, great work Jon. I don't know where you hid the time to do all this in between the manta streams but I'm so glad you found the opportunity.

    Fantastic! :D
    Quick tip for greenstuff: If you mix it, then let it wait a bit before working with it (depends on your local conditions so test it, but around here it's around 15-20 minutes or so), it will be still just as easy to work with, but will no longer be sticky, to the point that you won't need to wet your tools

    Love the video. You and some other channels I use for inspiration on some things. I use low temp hot glue when putting bigger pieces together

    Gorrilla glue: construction adhesive. Best bond for foam wood and other small bits and peices. It's also rather tacky so that you can work while it drys.

    Use pva glue but use toothpick to hold pieces in place while they dry.

  • @XyerDark
    @XyerDark 2 роки тому

    Since foam is fairly easy to pierce you could just stab in some toothpics in it while you wait for the glue to set, I've also seen people cover the parts in pva and dotting (very gently) the foam with hot glue so that they get a quick bond while the pva does the rest, being careful of course that the heat doesn't melt it. I'd try it with some offcuts first if I were you, also since your channel is famous for the sprue reuse, watch out for acetone since foam is the same type of plastic and it will almost completely dissolve in contact with it.

    Love ALL of your videos with the upbeat and positive vibes. Also your painting is awesome, don't doubt yourself bud :) Excellent work on the piece and the video ! PS- I love when you make mistakes and add it in there. Makes people like me feel like we are not alone when things don't always go to plan/don't come out perfect the first try. Learn, Laugh, and then push on is what the hobby needs...and you sir do it very well...thank you :)

    Sir, Greetings from Cuba, i have a question. Here in my country our community live thanks to donations so we don't have sprues to create something big than a set of scenery, so i was thinking if is possible to melt other plastics? Is easy for us find some plastic on dumpsters or something that get sprues. And we really need this info because here we don't have scenery and i want to create something for W40K and other games.

    • @MiniatureHobbyist
      @MiniatureHobbyist  2 роки тому +2

      Hiya, Im not sure what else melts in acetone as Ive never tried anything other than sprues, it would be a case of trying and seeing what works =)
