    Damn I don't arm wrestle but even with my limited knowledge I can tell... "that's good shit right there!"
    The explanation and demonstration is top notch Travis. You also come across really good on the cam. Very authoritative and matter of fact. The way you talk and carry yourself demands respect of the viewer and then you follow through with some gold ass knowledge lol

    This is exactly how i hit my side pressure machine and its how i set up my high hook. I try to get my set up to look the same for all my moves but im absolutely strategizing on my opponent’s in my weight class ill watch them warm up since i pull cold ill watch their left hand matches even though i only pull righty its absolutely no guarantee but its some kind of data i can gather and Ill also watch them pull righty and since i train and experiment in all styles im not afraid to try and counter them from all the info i gathered. The only set up i have that’s different are my two variations of a low hand top roll.

    Very good instruction. Great detailed breakdown.

  • @mortenrl1946
    @mortenrl1946 5 років тому +15

    This is good stuff. Toprolling is a tried and true way to beat "overall stronger" opponents. Most people don't train wrists and fingers enough! Very satisfying move! The bit on elbow positioning was especially helpful.
    My question is a bit of an odd one. You often hear the kings move connected to "willingness to break your arm" - But does it ever happen? I've not been able to find a single case. Nearly all breaks are humeral fractures from hooking with open shoulder.
    Ps. 8:42 *Setup* was good, but it's hard to see proper rotation and back pressure without resistance. Just something to think about for future lessons!

    • @arielmorales565
      @arielmorales565 5 років тому +1

      Morten R L Yes, you could break an arm at the elbow joint, but it’s highly unlikely to happen because the “kings mover” will usually let himself be pinned before reaching the necessary downforce pressure to break it. It all comes down to leverage and the only way to break the elbow joint is if there’s enough down force pressure at the hand and your body is anchored down by something not allowing you to rise up as the downforce pressure at the end of your arm increases OR if the downforce pressure at the hand is strong and fast enough, in which case your elbow joint will snap before you rise up to relieve the pressure and be pinned. An easy demonstration of this, is a tree branch placed on the ground with a rock under it right in the middle, the rock represents the table (arm wrestling) and where the tree branch and the rock meet represent the (elbow joint). If you step on the side of the branch that’s facing up which represents the (hand) the other side which represents the (arm wrestler) will rise up and you’ll pin the (hand) side on the ground, BUT if you place enough weight on the (arm wrestler) side of the branch you’ll create an anchor (which is in essence the point of being under the table) LoL... So, then as you step on the (hand) side of the branch it’ll hold its position at FIRST (there the effectiveness of the move) until enough downforce pressure is applied and then it’ll snap where the rock and the tree branch meet at the hypothetical elbow joint. This is considering the fact that you’ve anchored the branch permanently where as in an arm wrestling match the anchor is only as permanent as to how long Michael Todd chooses to be under the table... but as you’ve noticed he’ll rise up eliminating the anchor and be pinned saving his elbow joint from ever breaking.

    • @Alex-1750
      @Alex-1750 5 років тому +1

      @Morten R L
      Basically no...because you just drop your weight and let the mechanics of the straps do the rest..your arm is not in bad position neither absorbs lateral forces ..Todd many times jokes with his wife while performing it..Some “flop wrist “ cases are far more dangerous.
      But , keep in mind there are some minimum requirements for one to perform a successful KM ..

    And that is why he doesn't like training with those fat handles. He talked about this during his demonstration at Moldova: it only further trains guys to always have their hand in front of themselves, and open. Strong as they might get, it's why Travis beat Dave so easily, and then a couple of Eastern Euros (the former before tearing a pec, the latter before calling out Denis lefty). He will ALWAYS have an advantage because of how he can pull in this setup.
