  • How to change the oil and filter on a Honda CB1000R.
I hope by watching this short vid, those of you who have never attempted an oil and filter change will have a go, its really quite easy and will save £££. Including oil and new filter, this cost me £29.99..
The principle is the same on all bikes and the process on Honda Blades, Fireblades Hornets should be very similar,
I hope you enjoy, its a bit tongue in cheek. Sporty1200 :O)

first time i have ever seen someone try to put oil in a new filter and than install it. All you need to do is put the filter on, add oil, run the bike for a minute or two and your oil will now be in your filter to add the correct amount. No harm done.

Thanks for good video.i finally replaced my oil for first time ever two weeks ago.Didn't drop any oil though.I feel so satisfied now, i want to change brake pads as well.Is it the same procedure with ABS brakes? I think there are different brake pads, aren't they?

Can anybody verify thet the amount of oil is ~ 2.8l?
I am a bit worried since al the oil catalogues suggest 3.6 - 3.9 liters of oil.
I poured 3 bottles in it straight before checking the "oil seeing eye" and i think I'll have to let some out.

My oil light still flashes after I have replaced the oil and oil filter.

That's annoying. I've never seen the oil light actually come on with my CB other than when turning on the ignition as i always keep it topped up. Sounds like you've done all thats needed Alex. I'd suggest ringing a Honda dealer service dept. Could be a dodgy sensor. Hope you find a solution.
