    I can totally attest to all of this! I started my 6 year old on your RC for Littles a little before summer (even took a couple months off due to a really horrible first trimester), and my daughter is now almost completely independent. Because I started off with a different reading program, I'm still having to reinforce some things (it was sight reading first and then phonics, but now I see the pitfalls), but I only spend about 5-10 min with her and then she goes off to do her writing, math fact cards, and reading all on her own. Very pleased with the progress I'm seeing. The biggest frustration I found was her time management when she started doing things independently, but she's learning personal time management without me having to bug her about it. She's learning, "do I really want to sit here for hours doing something that would only take 20 min?" 😅 I'm super excited to get my second oldest started this summer!

    I like the idea of Saxon math sheets for review once they master the math facts...simply one page daily. Super simple. My kids feel big that they are done with the cards😁.

    PreK please! I’m in the thick thick of it. My son shows interest in learning but there’s 2 younger than him, it seems so overwhelming. He’s 4, but basically he knows how to count to 3, that letters are used for reading, and his colors 😅

    Pre-K - i need that video please! I have a rising first grader and my husband wants me to implement RC method for him, but how do I help my 4.5 year old get prepared to the "littles" stage you speak of? And he's a bit delayed too to boot. (late to talk and has been in speech therapy for a year)

    What reading program do you recommend now ? Alpha phonics or The education the child at home book?

    • @ourhouse
      @ourhouse  2 роки тому

      Alpha Phonics is if you want a solid program all ready for you to just follow every day. The other one is more about using the suggestions to do your own thing relaxed and learn more so through spelling up front.

    Karen, keep up the good work! I am at the end of my homeschool years but I am investing in your materials for my future grandkids so I am sharing RC and your teachings to my children. 2 of my daughters are ready to start their families and are horrified at what is happening in schools, even private schools. They are turning to me for help and encouragement. I, in turn, am introducing your materials because they are simple, thorough, encouraging and founded on sound principles.
    I would love your booklist so I can build a family library for them and pre k videos would be lovely.

    Been using RC since prek and love it. Started with 3 kids in pre-k, 4th, & 9th grade. Adjustments at first for older children but the younger they are they just ease right into independent learning.

    Where did you get the printed RC books from. They look beautiful on the outside. I bought some off Amazon and they were so poorly inside.

      @ourhouse  2 роки тому +1

      New West Press, they are a fellow homeschool family small business and have almost all the RC books. You can even choose your binding for many of them. I just love them, they are so well formatted on the inside. You’re right the Amazon reprint world is a jungle and often disappointing!

    Can you send me your email again ? My kids love the curriculum we use (Masterbooks ) bc it’s so biblical
    I want more simplicity. I want them reading writing and math. That’s it lol. I have a few questions.

    • @ourhouse
      @ourhouse  2 роки тому

      As for your other question on how to teach them the Christian faith with RC, we read the Bible together every day, I read aloud Christian books, they read great books from the RC list, they do copy work from the Bible for those under 10 and we go to church once to twice a week. I think that’s plenty :) I have a membership site where I answer questions live or sent in twice a month with lots of other additional resources.

    Any encouragement for teaching the older years? I've been at homeschooling 'formally' now for 18 years. 4 kids. 2 are graduated and in their 20's. We have 2 left to go. I'm tired. I'm burnout. We've become super relaxed mostly because life just keeps happening and that's just the way things have been for the last 8 years. Deaths, surgeries, etc.
    Today I just feel really down about it all. I feel like I've failed. We can't keep a schedule for nothing

    • @ourhouse

      No such thing as failure only feedback :) You have the feedback you need to know you need to do something else to get a different result. Once you decide what result/vision that is you can reverse engineer it. I have a course called sustainable homeschooling 101 where I talk about mindset for moms. You can access it right now in my membership site for only $15 a month as well as well as my home management course that also goes along with this. www.sustainablehomeschooling.com/schoolhouse

    I really love your videos! I homeschooled my son who is now 34 and started when he was in middle school - just winging it as one day he was in school and the next he was homeschooling. He went on to college no problem and we had so much fun! I was a working single mom at the time. Now I am homeschooling my two grandchildren 3 and 7 and your videos are so helpful! I watch over and over again to keep on track and not deviate to other methods to keep our lives as simple as possible while teach the love of learning. My son works from home and my daughter in law and I both work outside the home so lots of juggling but it’s working! Thanks for all your help!

    Can you explain how I can give my kids a biblical worldview while doing RC?

    • @LampWaters
      @LampWaters 2 роки тому

      We add bible in with devotional, copywork, bible curriculum or studies, books and readers that are biblically based. I created a menu for our group devotional time. The menu we build on by doing one verse or component a time and building on it regularly as they memorize it.. We go over Lords prayer, 10 commandments, short catechism, names of God, a semester long scripture we learn a verse at a time and will fully recite by end of semester. A statement of I am, I ought, I can, I will that's biblically based, the menu is in page protectors and finishes with an outline and example pray and kids can dry erase their pray in a blank prayer outline using ACTS prayer outline. I ask each section of the prayer to the group and they help me fill out my prayer outline with me as a group and then I'll pray it together after they help me write it out. That our menus. That's for our devotional time during that time we do the menu and then take turns reading a devotion, a verse from proverbs and another prayer from one of the kids prayer books. And their is usually discussion somewhere about the devotional or the proverbs. They each do a seperate bible study not as a group. Each kid I'm sure to have their own devotional, prayer book, bible study and menu. I hear the book Training Hearts, Teaching Minds is good too. For devotional I use Daily Bread or Keys for Kids. We have seasons we do this all the time other times where we can fit it in. My oldest gets so busy we have to learn to still do our devotional even if we can't all get together. If any of them can't attend group devotional regularly then I have them add their personal devotion books to their bible study time if they already are not. Half do their personal devo in addition to all this and half don't. We also read a devo during family dinners and discuss it before we eat and that usually includes the Lords supper too. That's on the occasion everyone is home and together so we like to make sure to get that time together and include Thanksgiving and Christ. We make Thanksgiving cards throughout the year just note cards and put them in a box to read on Thanksgiving day. We usually do those Thanksgiving cards on family dinner and game nights but can be great on tough hard days to make a Thanksgiving card. We save them all year and don't write names on any of them. We invite guests to leave a card too. I give the children lots of books by christian writers and especially on biblical womanhood.

    Hello from Brittany, France Karen! I bought your RC course for littles and your Home Franchise course. They have helped me immensely! I'm trying to figure out how to get the Saxon Math books here in Europe. I would love to have a list of the books you have/recommend for littles. I've watched the other video you have on this subject but a bigger list would be amazing! I would also love to have a Pre-K video because I have a 3 year old who would love to join "school" time with her 7 year old sister but I'm at a loss of what to do with her. Thank you so much!
