Hanabie are from the Harajuku district of Tokyo and started out in school with lead singer Yukina, bassist Hetsu and guitarist and main songwriter Matsuri, playing as a Maximum the Hormone (One of Japan's greatest live acts) cover band. They play a type of metal named after their district called "harajukucore". They have had a few drummers leave due to studies and other reasons but now have Chika as their drummer. They signed with Sony Japan and have really become the next big thing with a lot of touring and a successful last album. Try their first song Envy to get a feel of where they began and maybe Maximum the Hormone's "Koi No Sperma". The rabbit hole is big. just careful of MTH blocking but that song generally gets through.
Band-Maid and Hanabie are my favorite Japanese bands. They bring totally different vibes, so I see them as complementary as opposed to competing. I love them for different reasons. I watched them live in Germany, on their first international tour. They were absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see them live again.
They are playing European festivals (including Download I think) in a few months.. and a few solo gigs like Bologna, Hamburg, the Scandinavian capitals. Cheers
I re-discovered Hanabie a couple of weeks ago after only really listening to their song Envy several years ago. They've dominated my playlist ever since. They are so amazing. I'd like to recommend the next two songs you listen to from them to be "Pardon Me, I have to Go Now" then "Tousou - Run Away". You should watch them in order because they have a little bit of a continued story to them. Then if you want some absolutely hilarious and super fun song, check out "Be the GAL, Early Summer Ver."
I start laughing when Bell said she felt she can't go crazy for this one since she already saw it, and then goes crazy. The secret is we all go crazy every time. I could go to a Hanabie show every week, they a just high energy live. If you haven't reacted to Maximum the Hormone, you should. They are in many ways responsible the wonderful madness in Japanese rock.
They are awesone, they are known for their genre flips, time changes, cool transitions and heavy riffs (often behind "cute" vocals). They started out in high school doing covers of a band named Maximum the Hormone, who is also known for the same crazy and amazing song structures. Dive deeper they are fire as is the Japanese metal/rock scene as a whole. Nemophila, Band-Maid & Lovebites are other all-female bands who are incredibly talented.
Great re-reaction!! Could still feel your love and appreciation for these ladies, and the song. Welcome to the somewhat hectic world of Harajukucore and Hanabie!! As you experienced, these ladies are complete fire. Enjoy the trip... it's wild! Thank you for the reaction 💎🔥💙 #Harajukucore
Ahhhhhhh .... I had loved to see you the first time when Yukina got off! It is so fun to see people just drop their yaws. But anyhow, sorry that you lost five first reactions. Much work and frustration. But anyhow, they are totally fantastic Hanabie.
Hanabie = Harajukucore = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Hanabie have 2 1/2 albums out, as well as a couple of singles and covers - they totally own the covers, one of which is Imagine Dragons’ “Believer”. Their albums are those rare “no skip” CDs that you just leave on repeat - everything on them is interesting or just a complete banger. Hanabie bring the energy and passion live. What they do on stage would require a band of about 20 without a backing track, so they use one, which will annoy the purists, but in person it makes no difference, each member gives it their all and that added up to my favorite live show last year. I’ll be at the front of the queue to see them in May. Band-Maid are different, and so are LOVEBITES and Nemophila, but there is a place for all of them - we are spoiled by the quality and diversity the genre give us. Now. Aldious. They are the OGs. They had the first success of this particular genre and they have some brilliant music out there. They are different again too!
The Japanese scene is mind blowing, great reaction guys. So many amazing groups to listen to. You should give the group a”Broken by the Scream” a listen. Some other groups would be “Passcode “, Wagaki band, and Gacharic spin.
Welcome to Harajuku-core! ❄🌸 Hanabie refer to their particular style as Harajukucore, named after the Harajuku district that inspires their look and music. Harajuku is famous for its fashion, shops, music, and art scene. Harajukucore is an energetic mix of metal, electronic, rock, punk, rap, pop, etc. They will even incorporate traditional Japanese instruments into their songs, as well. The members are Matsuri - guitar, vocals, compositions. Yukina - growls/clean vocals. Hettsu - bass, backing vocals. In this video is former drummer Sae. She was replaced by Chika about on year ago. Here's a few song recommendations for you - 'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Reiwa Dating Apps Generation', 'Tousou' (run away). Thanks for checking out this amazing band
Yukina, with her nearly 150cm, is just brutally cute and Hanabie quite rightly Japan's hottest export in the last 1-2 years. As Belle says, some Hanabie songs might be among the best from Japan, and I can understand that, because they are just highly talented and pure fun. 🔥🤘🏻 _____________________ ♬ _"America invented rock. England improved it. And now, Japan has perfected it."_ ♬ ※ Band-Maid ※ Gacharic Spin ※ Lovebites ※ Nemophila ※ East of Eden ※ Hanabie ※ Asterism ※ Trident ※ etc.
Aw yeah! I told you so! Listening to Hanabie and others more than once is never a bad thing. You've done my personal big 3 of Japanese rock and metal now. Plenty more worthy yet to discover too. Hope you had a nice break.
Glad you found Hanabie too. You should check out the lyrics of their songs. I think you'll be impressed at what they are really saying despite how mental their songs get.
I think WE LOVE SWEETS (WARE AMATOU is the Japanese title) will continue to thrill you after 100 listens, as it does me. Try BE THE GAL, EARLY SUMMER VER., next. It’s one of HANABIE’s most fun songs. BAND-MAID’s latest live video, ENDLESS STORY, will make you cry for sure.
We appreciate your honesty, so don't beat yourselves up about it! They remind me of a Japanese 'Kittie' in sound with the vocals and musical prowess. You should check out 'Brackish' or 'Charlotte' by Kittie as they were their first 2 singles from back in the late 90s and are in a similar vein.
I like that you mentioned Slipknot, their newest song "OTAKU Love Densetsu" really has some Slipknot sounding parts. Hanabie are such an awesome band you are in for a real treat, they only produce bangers. cant wait for the next reaction! Hanabie. and Band-maid being very different genre's I would say its a fair opinion.
OTAKU lovely densetsu is a new single Hanabie did recently and it will blow your mind. Take everything Hanabie did in this song, turn it up to 11 and you have otaku lovely densetsu.

Great reaction! Still very entertaining watching y'all rock out to this 2nd playthrough. Hope you do more Harajuku-Core. Check out "Reiwa Dating Apps Generation", "Pardon Me I Have to Go Now", "Tousou" and "Be the Gal" early summer Ver
We love Hanabie! Sweeeeeeeeeet! If you now try Asterism, you'll have tried all the best bands from Japan! ( Asterism - CHURCH - live in studio - ua-cam.com/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/v-deo.htmlsi=pt1Jw2fw6U8LLxEb ). Oh, I suppose there's still Ningen Isu too...and Atarashii Gakko...and the Wagakki Band...and...OK, you still have a few more to discover!
I too have favorites songs that cover different "vibes". This particular song from Hanabie I haven't heard until now. I like it. I have to hear more. So, get out your pocketbook, I'm going to suggest another band that has similar vibes to this. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, from the land down under (Australia). Start with "Dragon", it's 9 minutes long.
"It's like Slipknot..." Except, you know, Hanabie is actually GOOD. Oh, and, Bad Religion is NOT "pop punk". Not even close. They are So Cal punk OGs from WAY back!
What a shame , you lost the first reaction. Glad you liked them. Hanabie are a trip. Be the Gal is so much fun and dancy. More please.

Finn continues to show his knowledge of bands, but Belle is just a natural joy - what a star! Love the reactions, even second time around!
