Russell told me that JW's widow would walk her small dog every morning. I remember wondering whether, had JW still been alive, would I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to meet him in person!?! I knew he was wonderful because of his reputation with all his old movies that my mom used to watch, my mom adored him, and with JW being a resident of Newport Beach, OC even named their airport after him. Having watched this episode, and now being about the age he was during it, I realize how handsome John Wayne was!

Lucille Ball was the greatest comedian ever and was seen as such in her lifetime. Came up #1 in different poles - received all kinds of awards in her lifetime. Marc Daniels, her first director on ILL, said that she was the greatest actor he ever directed, and he had directed people like Sally Field, Paul Newman, Laurence Olivier and others. Also when Orson Welles appeared on ILL and was watching her from the wings, he was asked why he was so absorbed - he said I am watching the greatest American actor. Yes, she did receive credit from many many people during her lifetime - a reputation which continues today 2022.

As a child, I watched this show and Here's Lucy when new. They were on TV every Monday evening, after Gunsmoke. I remember this ep well. Both shows had famous people as guest stars, her real kids playing her kids was the only difference between these two sitcoms of hers. This show was hilarious. Lucy created problems for John Wayne on I Love Lucy. In real life, Lucy was good friends with Bob Hope and John Wayne. Wayne was so handsome.

WOW.. You make me scream for how good we actually had it. We were poor but heck if I could tell we had fun doing family stuff. Even television was not so retarded then. Sundays reading the comics and the TV magazine so you could plan what to watch during the week with blurbs of what the episodes would be about and the letter R next to reruns. Carol Burnett meant the week was ended and ABC Sunday Night at the Movies with James Bond movies to spell the beginning of the week. And Gunsmoke and Lucy always said, yep its Monday.

Every woman back in those days idolized John Wayne. He’s my grandma’s favorite movie actor! Every year since 2010, I always gave her something that had John Wayne on it. And she would say, “He could’ve put his boots under my bed anytime!” In 2020, I gave her a John Wayne blanket that has him on it with one of his best quotes; “Don’t say it’s a fine morning or I’ll shoot ya!” She replied, “I FINALLY GOT HIM INTO BED WITH ME!”

Showed how Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger the former for Spartacus and the latter for Exodus insisted that Trumbo's name be on the film as screen writer.
