  • This video talks through our new crf 250 set up for our upcoming adventure on both the CRF 250 Rally and the CRF250L. We learned a lot from our last trip and have kept some bits bits changed others. In this video we talk about our new luggage choices, and new screen for the CRF250L and the addition of some GPS with the Garmin Zumo XT.

    Thank you for all the content. I`ll be touring the Balkans, Turkey and Georgia on my crf 250 rally following the TET this spring/summer and you guys have been a great help in setting up my bike. Wish you a great trip! Maybe we'll see each other on the road.

    Loving the setup and how you guys are changing out stuff that doesn't work for better kit. Just makes me want to get out there. But it is clear what I need the most is a riding buddy.... :(

    Also look at packing cubes if you like compartments. They can help organize stuff but will add one more zipper to open. Personally I prefer small textile bags of different colours inside a bigger bag. Each small bag have gear for single task so it is easier to find stuff.

      This is a great point, I actually have some of the snugpak pakboxes that I use for exactly this, they’re super use l useful, and then like you I use smaller waterproof bags alongside them where needed, thanks dude 👍

    Just a reminder: Put your bikes on a scale and reflect on you channel name.
    You bolting stuff on your bikes, just like all the others and you might be already loaded up your ready-to-ride bikes above the 200/220kg mark. If you need inspiration, have a look at the long distance hikers and their mindset to cut weight.

    • @lightweightadv
      @lightweightadv  Рік тому +1

      It's a fair point, but it's also worth noting that bulk doesn't equal weight. Nearly all of our kit (tent, bag etc etc) is lightweight mountain equipment (we'll show all this in another vid) and weighs next to nothing. Plus, we carry our filming gear.
      For adventure, luggage of some sort gets added, regardless of bike starting weight.

      I was going to ask the same kinda thing, the luggage looks like it’s going to be heavy and bulky, what steps have you taken to ensure safety? As I understand it the bike has a total weight capacity of 160kgs? Have you redone the suspension to accommodate the extra weight?

    • @lightweightadv
      @lightweightadv  Рік тому

      Hey Ian, it’s funny you should mention that, that has actually been one of todays jobs for me haha, I’ve been adjusting the YSS suspension to compensate for additional gear in the rear, so to speak 🙄

    Interesting stuff! For me you can’t beat Mosco Moto luggage for practicality with an Adventure Spec rear rack on the back. Do you make changes to the rear shock absorbers for the increase in weight? There’s some good tutorials on UA-cam for Garmin BaseCamp. I prefer Garmin for off-road on the CRF but normally use Tom-Tom on my Morini with the MyDrive Connect feature as it’s way simpler than Garmin and allows for considerable re-routing if necessary via my computer. EZ Moto Tim is an excellent UA-cam channel for Garmin BaseCamp.

    • @lightweightadv
      @lightweightadv  Рік тому +1

      Hey Steve yeah there are some great luggage options out there and I suppose it’s largely about finding what works for you eh. I am able to load up the compression on the 250l as I have the YSS rear shock so I will be hardening it up a little to compensate 👍
