    Creator of the iceberg here! Sorry about the weird name, I didn't have a proper one at the time so I just made a shitty one without realizing you can't change it. Also to clear things up:
    -The Driller and Gunner combo isn't bunkering, it's just that Driller can deal close quarters damage to small enemies, and Gunner can deal longer range damage to larger enemies.
    -The minimule thing is just something I put on there since we never see them used in game. Plus I asked about it during the QnA and got no proper response.
    -The in-universe DRG logo is only seen on the official website, which is different from the game's logo, which NEVER appears in-game.
    -The mineral all being the same template is about how all the ore icons use 2-3 different icon templates, but just edited for each ore.

    16:28 about the mini-mules, I think they are used by DRG, just not by the dwarves we play as. The 4 dwarf classes are supposed to be trained specialists, who get sent only for the most dangerous missions that the normal employees can't handle.

    My head canon for the mini mules is that they’re a cheaper and simpler model of mule sent in with less experienced dwarves, where instead of having an inbuilt ore grinder and beacons, it’s basically meant to be a walking bucket. This would explain why any dwarf is able to repair them and how they’re repaired by fitting the legs in and smacking it with a hammer. It would also explained why they’re found in both salvage missions and deep dives, since management probably assigned the formerly living dwarves on that mission with the cheap buckets due to either the high likelihood of death, or due to the dwarves not getting any kind of heavy weaponry to defend themselves with.

    • @theguywiththeoldds3896
      @theguywiththeoldds3896 Рік тому +4

      I like to think the mini mules were the previous iteration, and the equipment is over a year old. It explains why the legs get misplaced so far and why the paint on the drop pod is so damaged.

    • @Crossil
      @Crossil Рік тому

      It could be that mini-mules are a specialist unit designed for containment of specific items that require either specific conditions or containment. Because of this, you can't deposit into them. So perhaps they're used for some specific mission type that simply isn't available to us. Perhaps it's for teams that require certain expertise?
      This might seem conterintuitive since it makes it impossible to deposit other minerals that are worth harvesting, but the drop pod of the defeated team is still there whereas drop pods get summoned back in every mission type we can play. This could be done to allows the team to drop off normal minerals on the sides of the drop pod, similar to site refinement and point extraction having specialized drop off points.

    • @pennding3415
      @pennding3415 Рік тому +2

      I saw someone who head cannoned that the mini mules where just personal mollies for each dwarf on the mission to increase efficiency, no time wasted making trips to deposit, but those missions kept failing because the miners would spread out so much, since they didn't need to all stick near the one mule. so everyone died the smaller mules got ripped apart on their way to pick up since they auto route the drop pod, and the drop pod ran out of energy waiting on the broken mules.

      There's a voice line along the lines of "Die like your mother did!". This implies an event prior to the game where, presumably in order to tame the planet, DRG assassinated a Glyphid Queen. What we see in the game are just remnants of the swarm, flailing about and attempting to re-establish control.
      If this is true, Karl could have been some dwarf who sacrificed himself to kill said Queen on some assassination mission, paving the way for the future exploitation of Hoxxes.

    8:30 By the way about the deeper voice of Mission Control. Perhaps there was some realism in this decision. I once watched a program where people called from a submarine to a space station. The tonality of their voices changed greatly on the side of the listeners. I remember they had squeaky voices and low pitches, just like Mission Control did in early versions of the game. I could be wrong, I don't remember the details. It seems the voices of the people from the station were low, for those who heard them in the submarine and vice versa, in space, only the voices were already high-pitched. Perhaps earlier, Mission Control listened to the squeaky voices of the Dwarves)
    Now the corporation has become larger and improved communication, so the voices are no longer distorted, at least in the depths where Dwarves work now. Who knows, maybe in the future we will be sent even deeper and there this effect and other distortions will enhance the atmosphere of staying in the unknown depths of the planet.
    Just imagine how, at the beginning of the mission, the Mission Control will begin to be terribly distorted and eventually lose contact with us. Swarm warnings will be delayed or will not reach Dwarves at all. The pod that delivered us will not be able to fly back, since the fuel supply is not designed for such depths in both directions. Therefore, we will have to collect fuel for the DropPod rescue, as well as for Doretta before leaving. All our requests for support pods and communication stations will work every other time and with a long delay, as well as arrive for a long time due to the great depth. There is a possibility that Pod will stop above its destination due to running out of fuel or a worn out drill. We will need to build a communications station to establish contact with Mission Control, and when that happens, his voice will be low, reminding us that we are in deep depth...
    I just wanted to share an interesting thought, but in the end I got carried away and came up with a concept for Hazard 6))) You piqued my imagination again) Thank you)

    I knew Karl, but me time with him was too short!
    Back when I woke from my cryogenic sleep, it was Karl who taught me how to shoot, how to work the equipment and how to survive down on Hoxxes. Karl taught me to rock & stone!
    See, he saw it as a privilege to able to guide and teach the new recruits.
    All the things ye may have heard, such as Karls ability to out-drink *anyone*, and his impeccable fashion sense, are *all true!*
    I was there on that fateful day. The day we lost Karl.
    Have ye ever noticed how there's a big chunk of Hoxxes IV just floating there in space?
    *'twas by Karl's mighty pickaxe he split Hoxxes IV in twain!* Some say Skull Crusher Ale is to blame, but we can never truly know...
    Karl was part of the security detail escorting the survey team at the time. Keep in mind, this was in the early days! This was before we got that newfangled restitution-machinery in the med bay and such!
    It seemed like a regular routine mission, with a few stray bugs here and there.
    But then all of a sudden, they were swarmed! It was almost like the beasts had been waiting to ambush the poor blokes! Karl bravely stood his ground, mowing down the horrors, big and small. But then... She arrived!
    The Glyphid Matriarch herself attacked the group, but Karl was able to keep her at bay just long enough for the rest of the team to make good their escape. By the roar of his gun, by the roar of his cry: "I'll hold her off brothers, but this is good-bye!"
    The last we saw of Karl was him swinging his pickaxe at the jaws of the Matriarch with all of his might!
    That's when the very ground shook and we were forced to take off! *Karl gave his life so that we could escape with ours!*
    We all mourned Karl that day, and haven't stopped since! He truly was the greatest of us.
    We never recovered Karl's body. Some true believers say he's still alive down there, somehow.
    But who amongst us can survive against such terrible odds?
    *Surely, Karl must've found a way to cheat death! He's done it before, many times!*
    We never recovered the body of the Matriarch either... Some say she's retreated to the depths. Waiting, watching, plotting her revenge...
    Who knows, they might both be locked in eternal combat deep beneath the crust!
    They say a dwarf dies twice. Once when his heart stops beating, and again when he's forgotten. As long as we remember him and tell his story, he will live on forever in our hearts and minds! And we will remember, always!
    Karl was the best of us. Karl is what we all strive to become. When any one of us prevail against the steepest of odds, *we are Karl!* So if ye truly wish to seek Karl, ye must first look within yerself!
    So get down there, stand yer ground, make the earth quake! They took Karl from us, and for that we shall *end their line!* Show them no quarter! Rip them to shreds! Tear them to pieces!
    *Make them rue the day they ever stood between us and what's rightfully ours!*
    Rock & Stone Forever!

    I think you misinterpreted "DRG is an environmental PSA". We're playing as employees of a mining company, which is extracting the natural resources of a foreign planet, with zero regard for said planet's wildlife and ecology. Think of all the environmental destruction we do every time we go on a mission! Sure, the environment is dangerous and the wildlife is mostly hostile and deadly, but they're native to Hoxxes--while we dwarves are not. The same thing happens in our own non-dwarf world, be it oil companies being established in foreign countries or mass deforestation severely damaging the local ecosystem.

      My initial interpretation was something like that, but to be fair I interpreted it more as a PSA as to why you shouldn't visit this planet's dangerous environment rather than a PSA as to how you shouldn't treat planets.

    3:02 - if you have a driller who can EPC mine at all competently, or use satchel charges, oil shale becomes quite fast. The chunks on the ground are absorbed by the laser can MUCH faster than if it has to dissolve it off the wall.
    Also - each mini mule adds 40-6- gold and 40-60 nitra when you fix it. This is the payload the previous team had deposited.

    My headcanon:
    Karl led a team on a mission to the main Glyphid hive. After a hard fought battle against the Glyphid Queen that was going very poorly due to the Queen's sheer size and power, Karl ordered his team to return to the drop pod as he made one last suicidal charge with armed C4 charges in each hand, completely wiping out both himself and the Queen.
    Karl's sacrifice is the reason why we haven't yet seen Glyphids bigger than Dreadnoughts, why the line "Die like your mother did" exists, why the company goes so heavy on the "Leave no dwarf behind" mantra, and why we have Elimination missions to ensure a new Queen can't be created.

    I personally think that Karl died fighting some gliphid queen that lays the eggs for dreadnoughts with his pic axe relating to the “die like your mother did” voice line and I think it was done with his pic axe because of the reference in the special beer that gives pic axe damage. I think that’s why he was so respected by fellow dwarves also It could be possible that the chuck of hoxxes that fell off was caused by him blowing up the cave that the queen was in which is why his fellow dwarves left him behind and the signs in the memorial hall say leave no dwarf behind

The one with alot of sticky note for engineer, the one with military grade ammo crates or containers for gunner, fuel tanks for driller, then lastly scouts with alot of soda and Chinese food boxes. Makes sense since he'll be doing alot of going back and fort depositing resources to molly. (it's for the best practices of scout to not call molly but just use his mobility to go to her[majority of the time])

    Mining out oil shale is actually useful if your driller is not using TCF or C4 on them. The shale chunks fill up the meter much faster than trying to use the lasers directly on the generated oil shale deposits. Ideally, you'd want to mine out the terrain connected to the oil shale to break it all off faster since hitting the oil shale directly takes more pickaxe swings in comparison to said terrain.

    I know i'm a year late, but I have a theory about DRG. Perhaps it's already confirmed/disproven some where, but oh well:
    -Hoxxes was a life-filled world intentionally destroyed by DRG for it's mining operations.
    My theory comes from three main sources: The Recruitment Poster, the Glyphids, and the Biomes.
    The Recruitment poster in question can be seen in the memorial hall, featuring the text "Hoxxes is within our grasp!". Above the text is a picture of a fist grasping a Red-and-black world.
    What I find most interesting about the poster is the coloration and design of the world. One could argue that it represents black crust floating above a red mantle, or vice versa, but I would argue that the Red represents water- Earth itself once had red water during a period where Iron flooded it's oceans. This argument is supported by the fact that the graphic of the planet in the poster is completely spherical, with no signs of floating debris or whatnot.
    The Glyphids meanwhile come from the theory that heavily-armored insects, such as cockroaches, would be the most probable creature to survive an apocalyptic event on Earth. The Glyphids, "coincidentally", are heavily-armored insects. and they make up the majority of the wildlife.
    The last point I wish to bring up is the Biomes- A lot of the life filled biomes seem more fitting on the surface, such as some of the Azure Weald flora which feature leaves that seem out-of-place in a cave deep within the mantle, even one filled with bioluminescent life. This makes me think that plants on Hoxxes once spread shallowly into the cave systems, only to be forced to rapidly evolve due to some sudden- and recent, event that caused the world's destruction, recently enough that they still sport elements of a past surface life.
    Lastly, going back to the poster, I find it highly interesting how DRG feels the need to set up military-style recruitment posters, presumably in cities full of a mining-inclined species, just to get enough miners into the depths of Hoxxes. With all this in mind, I lay out the following theory:
    Hoxxes was once a young, lush world filled with all sorts of strange creatures, that also happened to be mineral-rich. DRG began mining operations on the surface. whenever the Mantle had more resources, the wildlife was far too strong, or perhaps both, DRG decided to simply blow off the world's crust, exposing the rich underground mineral veins at depths only the most hardy of the world's wildlife could survive in. To get the explosives and equipment needed to blast off the surface layer of the entire world, DRG would have needed to pay billions if not trillions of credits. As part of a sort of sunken-cost-fallacy, they now desperately hire as many miners as they possibly can to go into Hoxxes' mantle, mine valuable ores, then get out, to hopefully get their money's worth after destroying the planet.

    Mining oil shale with EPC TCF is a pretty viable tactics as it saves some time and efficiency by wasting not much of your total ammo
    Dreadnought spawns is still a thing: I got one like three days ago
    Fun fact: in the earliest build there was no low gravity button, so you could only get into top hangar hole by... launching teammates with V
    What a fun thing that was
    Once as an answer to question "Why MC control doesn't wear beard" they said "Who said he is a dwarf?"
    No, mini mules are currently used on salvage, so the real purpose inclines there was a reason to use them back then. As someone who understands molly is more than just a team depository I can say there won't be a pre-salvage mission, so most likely that was older DRG equipment. Aside from this mini mule could be just the same as modern molly
    Known about Karl for sure: he was drinking beer a lot, skull crusher has something in particular about his... uhh... "death"
    Known about Karl not for sure: it was in salt pits and cut string claims he was left behind
    P.S. I'm still looking forward to our cooperation, Historian, lol

  • @paladingeorge6098
    @paladingeorge6098 3 роки тому +1

    Its weird that you cannot deposit in mini mules. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. It seems to make sense to me that mini mules are related to an objective that we haven't seen yet. I mean, why would you need mini mules instead of just one big Molly? Another theory I have is that since the drop pod in salvage missions looks so beat up its likely that the mini mules are from a much earlier time in DRG's history. After all, drop pods are always called back when the dwarves are deployed, and even if they left them it wouldn't make sense for the fuel to just go bad after a short amount of time...not to mention that it wouldn't make sense for DRG to just leave the drop pod when they remote control over them anyways.

    *"Glyphid Dreadnought Attack:* Though not technically a Swarm, this event is conducted in the same way. Mission Control will announce the incoming threat of a Glyphid Dreadnought. These Dreadnoughts behave exactly the same way as the ones found in Elimination missions. This type of Swarm Is much rarer than others, but has a slightly increased chance of appearing on high Hazard Level missions."
