Thank you so much for the shoutout!! Y'all were an absolutely incredible group of people to spend that weekend with, and it sure as hell won't be the last ♥🍓
I think a good format would be a full 16-player battle stage. Best 2 out of 3 (thinking Mario Kart style weighted points based on placement). Anyone knocked out at the 2nd round, goes to a loser bracket - something like that. Would be great! At least if the idea is to stick to Battle Stage only without adjustments
I like that idea - Kinda similar to FNCS Battle Royale where winning matches gives points, elims give points etc. In Battle stage you could earn points for placements, for getting above a certain % notes hit, stuff like that.
the point about the juice wrld chart getting censored kicked up my thought that if, by some miracle, we do get a proper RB game to compliment festival, one of the big things it should do to stand out is take an M rating on the chin with fully uncensored charts. imagine finally getting sir psycho sexy in all its glory.
In all seriousness, for all its shortcomings this event seemed like a step in the right direction. Hopefully this is a sign of bigger, better things to come. And congrats again to Moose who now has a page on Liquidpedia, thereby finally making him a pro fortnite gamer™️
The "winning money for the entire band" thing kinda makes me hope one day that they'll do a band tournament, if they ever end up making a squads version of battle stage. I feel like there would be a lot more strategy when it comes to overdrives, when to use them as solo or as a band, etc, but especially with new powers apparently being leaked too. It'd be a lot more fun knowing any band could come out on top at any time, whether it's because they've been saving their overdrives for 1 person's solo and bumping up band score that way, or even stuff like vocals completely tanking their own scores and activating their overdrives during long breaks, but doing it for the band score instead. It would definitely help with variety too, so you wouldn't just only drums or lead being run all the time. It'd be more interesting for the participants and even the crowd watching too, which Epic seems to be trying to go for (with this last tournament at least). The Rock Band games should be about the entire band, not just one person.
Sucks the event was trimmed down to about 3 mins of a 12 minute intermission. I had a feeling it would be small, but yeah 2 songs isn't great for a tournament. It doesn't feel like a tournament given the prerecorded-ness of it and the way it was edited (felt more like an ad than anything), but it is cool to see they see more than mildly interested in doing some kind of tournament with Festival with the largest cash-prize for plastic rhythm games. I'm interested to see if another happens at the next big FNCS tournament what changes they make based on feedback and if next time they try to make it longer or a "bigger deal" than this one. Advertising for this event was rough too - one tweet with not set time frame? I found out through Jason's tweet a few hours before the halftime happened. Not even a set time for halftime up on their website from when I went looking. Still, best 3ish mins of the event for me, so cool to see an official event again for plastic instruments.
The switch actually locks the controller you're using on switch. Don't know if this is also a thing on other consoles but they do need to add that to PC
Genuinely hope they work on everything you guys want from festival. Its a fantastic idea and im excited to see it thrive in time! Was cool to meet some of you at fncs. I REALLY hope they do more festival events itll be so fun to watch
Might be a hot take, but I think my biggest problem with the event is that it (and the Metallica event as well) was Pro Lead only. I suspect that _selling Riffmasters_ was one of the primary motivations for having the event at all. But if you look at it as a showcase for FNFest as a whole, focusing on Pro only feels really weird. It's a legacy mode with a $130 buy-in in an otherwise free game. It gives the impression that if you want to be good and considered a competitive player you need to be playing Pro. Imagine saying mdcurtis doesn't deserve a shot at a competition just because they don't play plastic guitar.
Not to say there shouldn't be a competitive scene for Pro Lead! I think it's awesome that plastic guitar is back! But I think it would be a stretch to say that it is the primary way to play FNFest, or even to say it's the most competitive. But that's the messaging they're giving right now, that Pro Lead is where the Real Competition is.
incredibly disrespectful for the rest of the guys keep talking over Alec. im trying to hear him too fellas
Alec looks so photogenic in this episode

THANKYOU for the part where you had all the people on screen! Made it WAY easier to follow everyone! :D
All the riffmaster needed was a star power button like the warriors of rock guitar to make life easy
