      I do Wonder how well they would fare against a big ceratopsian (for example something like Triceratops or King Kong's Ferrucutus) considering the frontal horns and that they can turn pretty quickly
      Although I can visualize a Shield Drake fending off a Ba'Khar or even a Kurajaku

    I wonder what a kurajaku would look like if one were to wander out to a remote reef atoll (or blown out there due to storms) while young and before its unique algae could attach, and managed to survive and thrive on the shallow reef... isolated and trapped, unable to swim the great depths back to the mainland... dragon of the reef? Lol but it would be cool to see it decorated by the native reef life in place of the typical green algae (purple and red algae, smaller sponges, corals, and anemones maybe?)

      I think the kurajaku takes some ideas we have about spinosaurus and dials them up to 11 and it’s awesome. So it’s not a knock off as much as it is a doubling down.
      Lions are still ambush hunters so uktan are like if you took some lion social and habitat characteristics and added the endurance hunting of early humans

    This might be one of your best videos yet. It was super in depth. There is so much stuff about each of the robust megaraptorans of Kaimere that I enjoy. I like how uktan and zentaur are paralleling lions and tigers in parts of their designs and behaviors. I like that oritaku is neotenic due to the limited resources on Pakardia. And kurajaku is just legendary. I can guarantee you that if one day the world of Kaimere becomes super popular (and I wish to you that it will) and there movies or tv series being made about it, the kurajaku will still be in top 5 most iconic animals you've created. It's great that you've made it so that I can't pick a favorite among these four, but atleast I can say that they are among my favorite Kaimerian creatures overall.
    The Megaraptoran series of videos was super fun and as always I'm looking forward to whatever topics you are going to cover in the future. The topics for the next month are exciting especially the upcoming glimpse from a continent outside of the known world.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed! There's been so much excitement around this video I was nervous it wouldn't live up to the hype but so far the reception has been great. I really hope kaimere takes off! In the novel I'm working on there's a scene with a kurajaku that I think will showcase their size, power, and capacity for destruction quite well. I'm doing artwork for the last two videos of the year and have some super exciting stuff in the works! Thanks for the comment. Put a smile on my face. Have a fantastic day!

      @@TalesofKaimere Really great video and fucking good weel worldbuilding ! Kaimere is maybe by many ways a fantastic/fantasy world, it's still that of his components stand on 100% scientifics elements and explanations (which is are on this type of work and world by the ways). Kaimere is very intereting, fun and credible and even educational. If I could, I would recommend it to anyone I meet! And I'm so a big fan that I recently subscribed permanently to your channel and follow the news videos !
      If I can emit a subjection and idea that you could officially integrate into Kaimere, it is because there is at least some case of hybridization that works!
      Because in fact, in our world, the majority of hybrids that appear (because in addition there are really a lot more than you might think) are natural and viable.
      Yes, yes, that's true, and most of the time there is a process of species specialization called "specialization by hybridization". It is very frequent and common, much more than we think (notably in canines, ducks and even in our own human line with Neanderthals and Denisovians!) And there are plenty of known examples (the Plizzly, the Coywolf, the racklhan, Narluga), as with the Olive Baboon (Papio anubis) with the Yellow Baboon (Papio cynocephalus) in Africa. And even when the species are of different genus. In fact, it all depends on the number of chromosomes of the two parent species and if they are still close enough to each other.
      If it is believed that the majority of hybrids are generally not viable, it is because most known are artificial hybrids created by man under conditions maintained by him and most are made with species that are all just close enough between them to design a hybrid but without going further afterwards. In any case, this process allows a species to obtain the genes of another species via hybrids and to acquire the benefits which can then be used (better adaptation to food, climatic resources, etc.). There are even several populations in the world of stable hybrids such as the green frog (Pelophylax kl. Esculentus), the Cisalpine sparrow (Passer italiae) or the Dauphinclymene (Stenella clymene) which is a species in its own right that appeared following the hybridization. Other species apart living today have also appeared by hybridization, notably insects (mainly Lepidoptera) and birds (such as the Daphne Mayor finch).
      It is really a part of the biology that is fascinating and that is really to be included in the universe of Kaimere in view of the abundance of animals descended from creatures of different clades and orders, from different places and times, mixed together. all together.
      Here a link to the wikipedia page article which show this natural and interessting processus : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_speciation.

    Such majestic, yet imposing monarchs, it’d be terrifying to meet any of them face to face! Considering the large diversity of giants in just the Known world alone, there must be an incredible huge array of unique insects found on Kaimere, along with much in the way of Arachnids, Gastropods, and annelids. (It’d be great to see some of the small invertebrates on Kaimere, given how unique they already are on earth.)

    The existence of aggressive pack hunting T-Rex equivalent theropod dino predators (who have similar senses and somewhat more intelligent), plus myriad other omnivore and carnivore superpredators nearly as big (some flying), must've put a serious dent in the Kaimere humans trying to form truly formidable Scythian/Turkish/Mongol style nomadic empires on the known world's great grassy plains and semi-arid hinterland....

    Amazing video, it really shows your passion for this clade of animals. (Which kinda shows in the menagerie short story)
    I just want two other things:
    1-When I heard 'Spinosaurs went extinct on the known world', the first thing that came to mind was 'PLEASE GIVE ME DERIVED SPINOSAURS SOMEWHERE'
    2-When you said a ' glimpse on one of the continents beyond the known world' my heart cried out PLEASE PLEASE LET IT BE THE PERMIAN ISLAND. But I guess its probably the eastern continent due to the work you have been doing on the novel. (And if it isn't that, its the polar continent)
    Well, thats all.
    Once again, thank you for your work. I really look forward to each video, creature profile on instagram and of course the novel.

Especially since the poles are not frozen but id imagine the day/night cycle would still be effected from the position on the globe. One of the subjects I find extremely fascinating in paleontology here on earth is the tiny glimpses we've gotten of the animals that use to call Antarctica home before it froze.

    You really made the Megaraptor a dominant predator of Kaimere, I'm impressed you know for Alternate Evolution I book I'm doing, it is the inspiration for chapter 8's predator the Omegaraptor. I was reading your book and watching these videos and just an idea, like in history with wildlife, what if they had to deal with an invasive species and try to adapt with the competition like Mongoose in Hawaii, or even a certain dog puts a certain animal of that environment to extinction causing a balance destruction.

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 роки тому +2

      Depends on the clade: theropods are mostly ‘warm blooded’ with a stable temperature. Abelisaurids might be mesothermic as are horned dinosaurs and titanosaurs, basically meaning they have a degree of temp regulation but it’s not as stable or sophisticated as full endotherms. Parksosaurs are warm blooded.

Some only have names for the megs that live in their lands. Others break them down cladistically, saying robust monarchs, water drakes, and lesser drakes and things like that.

    What is the success rate of hunting of the robust monarchs? Usually top order carnivores do not have very high success rates while hunting, and this is specially notorious when they Hunt dangerous prey, like the 1 On 5 hunts of lions being successful, so I'm interested in knowing how much do this megaraptorian top order carnivores manage to catch their prey, specially the Zentaur as it is the one Who hunts more dangerous species that their counsins (and I mean that in number of species)

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 роки тому +4

      Depends on how you define a failed hunt. In the first decade or two of their lives, zentaur succeed only around 15-20% of the time. A ton of trial and error, sometimes fatal. This early learning stage as adolescents is when zentaur have the highest mortality rate. By the time they are adults, establish a territory, and become familiar with the strengths and vulnerability of the prey in their habitat, their success skyrockets. I say it depends because the greatest key to their success is in assessment and prediction. When they find potential prey, especially game that could be dangerous, they will only attack if confident of success, and if they aren’t confident they will usually abandon the attempt and try either later or another prey item. If they attack, their success is around 90-95%, but considering they abandon a majority of potential attempts before really committing, this is a misleading statistic. The story is similar for all of them but the zentaur has the highest success to committed attempt rate of probably any Kaimeran predator

      Agreed that he’s not someone to cite in a paper but I don’t think that’s what he’s going for. I wouldn’t say he’s someone to base your understanding of dinosaurs on. More an interesting lens through which you can interpret dinosaurs and other prehistoric organisms, although I think some of his ideas really do stick the landing. I like his work because of his open wonder. Feels like an appropriate amazement at discussing such amazing creatures. I see his takes more as an interesting perspective and gets me in a speculative and creative headspace, nothing to take as gospel and I don’t feel he presents himself as such, but I can see why folks looking for grounded interpretations of paleo subjects are turned off by how much he throws out there. As for his smugness again maybe it’s just the angle I’m taking but it doesn’t bother me. When I read Nash I know I’m in for some bold takes with the understanding that a lot of what he’s doing is brainstorming. He’s not for everybody but I felt his work deserved a shoutout for those interested in Kaimere
